I really did think that was a brilliant night of football. Putting the result to one side for a minute, those are the nights that will keep me coming back.

There’s a LOT wrong with football these days and it’s dying a death for me in a lot of ways. Tonight, however, as much as I can’t stand Leeds, that was just what football should be like.

Credit to both teams, both sets of supporters (although I thought Leeds were very quiet until they scored, surprisingly), the officials who I thought did well.

Football in its current form won’t be around for much longer I don’t think, so I’m enjoying it while it lasts.

Leeds very good btw. Always thought we would win the league but after tonight I thought they were so dangerous and may even be able to compete in the division above.

It’s interesting how many people on the forum have repeatedly said they want us to play more exciting football, and want a better atmosphere. I thought both were on display tonight.
There have been a lot of complaints over recent months about us ‘getting results and loads of points but it’s crap’.
Today was the opposite - some really good play, great atmosphere, but no points because, in truth, they are better than us.
There’s been some sneering at the idea of scraping past a team with a 1-0 win, having barely any shots, and playing slow-slow-slow build up that often lead to just losing possession. A boring, scraped 1-0 win and 3 points seems to be a bit more appealing after getting beaten though.

We played well for 30 minutes or so.

Atmosphere was fine despite not being a full ground.

What do you expect when the “best squad in the league” come to town and we “go toe to toe” with them?! We should all be honoured to watch such a great team of Wilder is to be believed.

I do wonder if he went in to their dressing room and tossed the whole Leeds team off at full time.

I didn’t leave too deflated tbh, stayed to clap the players as I appreciated the effort they clearly showed. Leeds quality shone in the end. Subs definitely killed us but maybe his hand was forced due to fitness and fatigue. It will be same every game next season if we do get promoted, I just don’t believe wilder can attract the calibre of player we’d need to compete in the prem so would be a season of trying hard but just not having the quality to be successful.

I think the wages on offer would certainly attract the right calibre of player. Whether Wilder would be capable of managing them is a different question. Remember, he doesn’t think a team full of internationals would work at our club. That says it all, really.

It was great until wilder fucked us over second half. He is right about Leeds being best side in division. Just a shame he didn’t go for it all game

Last night felt like a lot of games I've watched in the Premier League involving us. Compete for two thirds of it then start to look tired and leggy, and the whole thing comes undone because the opposition have better engines and a bit more quality.

I want us to go up because it's the best thing for the club, but last night was a little reminder of the sorts of games that await us even if we do strengthen dramatically (which we'd absolutely have to). It becomes draining and hard to watch as a fan.

I reckon the new owners have a few more quid than Princey did, but nowhere near the amount we'd need to spend to have a chance of staying up. I reckon Leeds will because most of their squad looks Premier League quality already and they're backed by NFL money and fucking Red Bull (as if anyone needed another reason to hate the wankers).

I enjoy the ride of the Championship but when the end of the journey is in sight I start to get a little fearful of what lies ahead. Failure is wank. Promotion is sweet for a day, then you remember what it actually means going forward...

I don’t blame Wilder, who would have thought bringing Hamer on would make us worse! Leeds have the strongest squad in the championship and it showed in the end. As simple as that really. We play like that for the last games we should get 2nd spot

Well, feels like it going down to that Burnley away doesn't it, presuming the form keeps going for both sides. Leeds' to lose now, can't see them slipping up although would be great to see the meltdown if they did...

He has done a terrific job - he is under pressure to get us up , he is building a good squad . We are in a strong position for the remainder of the season with more good players to choose from . We started off at -2 , we have 12 games left , a reasonably healthy skilful squad who are now +2 on Burnley . Ours to lose and I don’t think we will - imo

Stop with the positivity on here please....

You need to join the crowd and get the pitch forks out demanding that we sack CW for losing to Leeds. This despite him going for it with his team selection as many in here (me included) wanted us to do pre match. Bottom line is their subs made the difference, and ours either through lack of fitness or quality, were inferior. That and being unable to defend set pieces again which matter in big games.

Anyway, back to your point (which i agree with btw). Bitterly disappointing last night as I hate losing to Leeds, but it's just one game in the cold light of day. They slip up, we win and it's as you were again. I also think we are starting to see our players getting back to fitness and we have a very tasty squad for the Championship. Beat QPR on Saturday and we are back up and running again and I feel positive. There wasn't too much in between the 'best team ever to play in the Championship with Super Leeds', and our own boys. We just gassed out. That tells me we are a very good team for this level. But some on here can't wait to criticise or get worked up. Some just need to appreciate the very good job that SUFC are doing atm, which includes Chris Wilder.

Leeds will struggle in the Prem, as they did first half an hour against us last night.

And with that bomb scare of a keeper, they will leak goals every week.

Steep in 90s Basset retro I’m afraid

I don’t think most are demanding Wilder sacking imminently, also I think most appreciate the job he’s doing/done. I do think a lot see that maybe he’s not the manger to establish a stable prem team/club. I’m in this camp but would be happy to be proved wrong I just think his qualities lie in lower leagues than the prem.

Nothing better than watching your manager throw the game away.

Highly recommend, it's definitely got me wanting to see more for sure..

Said no sane fucking person ever.

What makes you say that mate? Not a dig, genuinely curious because I don't have a clue. My best guess is they have a decent bit of change to pump in and the bigger issue will be FFP restrictions.

I think get BBD, Holding and Hamza signed on perms - they know the club, won't require time to bed in and have PL experience which will be vital. We need a striker in the mould of Kieffer Moore (but not Kieffer Moore!), had my eye on Delap long before Ipswich got him and I was confident he'd be a success. If they go down would be great to sign him but I can see a Villa going for him.

Need a decent winger. I've been on the fence with JRS but made my mind up last night he's not good enough (has the ability but no consistency) and I don't think he'd have the right mentality for a dogfight.

A good CB, or two if possible. Tanganga is PL quality IMO and then maybe Dunne or Darling. Would give us an armoury of 4 CBs, Anel and Tanganga being 1st choice.

Obviously the squad needs a lot more work than just that but these are key areas for me.

I can't say that I agree with you re CW and him not being able to establish SUFC in the PL, as I think he could do that. However I respect your opinion and anyone else's if they add their view when it's been thought out. That's fair enough as we all have our own opinions.

What gets my goat a bit on here, is the number of silly posts put on here which are either said in the heat of post match disappointment or just down right irrational. Lot of the time it's just people wanting to rant about CW cos they don't like him or they don't like how he left last time. For those people, ffs let it go. The club has as did the last owner and they were the ones paying any previous settlement. Move on. Concentrate on the here and now, and whilst CW isn't without fault and can be too stubborn, he's still a damned good football manager who I think we are lucky to have. We lost to the champions elect last night. Narrowly. You would think that we had been dry bummed 6-0 at home with the way some on here go off. They're the type that if they won a million quid they would still complain that it wasn't £2m (and probably blame Wilder as he might have won a tenner himself).

Loads of positives for me - Souza and Campbell were outstanding. Choudhury was really good when he came on. BBD a real handful all night, Peck doing Peck things, Cooper showing he is by far this divisions best keeper. Not a huge difference between the two sides until the end. I know others see it differently.

I wouldn't describe our play last night as exciting. I thought it was heavily on the functional side still. We were playing for the 1-0 but just like the prem days if you sit deep and allow the opposition to start to dictate the tempo you'll get punished. There was some nice interplay at times but we faded in the 2nd half. That was a play it safe display but without the result.

The biggest difference in the two sides that I could see was their width play. Solomon & James were a level above & I thought their left back was very good too.

Fine margins but that’s what you come up against week in week out if you’re promoted.

It was a great game for the neutral & if we play like that every week until May then we’ll go up.

It surprised me how many people walked out as soon as Leeds made it 3-1 (I've never had so much room around me during a game), given that we had a go at Leeds, a better performance than we put in against Portsmouth and Hull.

It was the top 2 clash and only our 2nd loss in our last 6 games, with the other 4 games being wins.
