The Blades travelled to London on Monday night for a fourth round FA Youth Cup clash with Millwall at The New Den, the winners set to host Everton in the next round.

Having beaten Bolton Wanderers on penalties in the previous round, the Blades had to settle for the same route again after mounting an impressive comeback in the capital.

Cheers for this Foxy and DazBlade88. I would have been there but I had a five a side final to play (and lose).

Kudos to Jake Eastwood - that's another two penalty saves and there looked to be a number which he was very close to. We look to be blessed with promising goalkeepers at the moment, that's for sure!

What an absolutely tension building video that is. Great footage Foxy and many, many thanks for capturing the sense of what was happening on the night. And Eastwood looked like another in the long line of decent keepers we've produced. Well done mate UTB! :)

That is a top notch quality report Foxy, bang accurate.

Coming back from 2-0 down, and the very fact that we had to score 4 successive penalties to save the game showed great character and resolve. Well done to Trav and the boys.
With Louie Reed getting the winner, it turned out to be a perfect day. Sorry :tumbleweed:

I was sat behind Duncan Ferguson and Kevin Sheedy, I have to add that big Duncan is the kind of guy you'd probably like to go for a few pints with, while Sheedy isn't :D

Very enjoyable night apart from the trip back from 'deep sarrrrfff' in the fog. :(

Possibly still best not to knock over big Dunc's pint at 11.05pm.

Wonder if United can get to another Youth Cup final and be relegated in the same season double!

We didn't look blessed when he fumbled it into the net for the opening goal! Fair play to him for picking himself up after that. My Millwall mate wondered why they didn't pepper him with shots from range after that and really put him under pressure. Fair point I thought.

I'm glad I watched that film knowing the result.

I saw the original at Wembley and that finished with the ball going into orbit and another angry trudge to the railway station.

Excellent script and images this time. Thanks lads.

If there's an extra place on the bench for a youngster on Sunday who would it be, based on last night's performance? Would it be too soon for Diego?

Cheers! :)

Didn't know you were definitely going down, should have given us a shout, could have had a pint and a chat in the Exec :)

He was fairly quiet (by his own standards) last night, but I'm surprised he wasn't on the bench last weekend, so I'd suggest he's the most likely. Me and DazBlade88 we're talking on the way down and said that his knock against Coventry was probably a good think psychologically, he certainly didn't look scared to play his usual game.

Calvert-Lewin was also a little quiet going forward but ran himself into the ground and was knackered. With him having the experience against Villa, wouldn't bet against him being with the squad again.

Was a pity Khan was ill last night, still, if nothing else it means that he might be a surprise for any Everton staff watching :)

Cheers Foxy, maybe next time at the Lane, I hear it could well be Tuesday 11th Feb

Again spot on about Calvert-Lewin, Khan and also Diego, but laddo's appearance seemed to lift the entire team and the fact he played in the hole behind Jake Eyre suddenly gave the their two centre halves a real problem, do we keep shape or do we go to mark him, A number of times they didn't seem to know which to do. The fact we played it on the floor the second half and Diego is always willing to run at defenders, in itself, will cause problems for the opposition. It also seemed to give young Eyre a bit more freedom, and he had a stormer second half.

A great report and with the quality video as a bonus, brilliant!
Thank you

It was definitely a massive lift for them to have someone of his quality come on.

I said at the start that Khan was a huge loss in that hole, and Diego playing in there in the second half gave us that link between the midfield and attack that just wasn't there in the first half. We were able to keep the ball, get bodies up to support the attack and hurt them without trying to force the issue. The contrast in performances from first half to second was scary. I said it in the shoutbox before we set off yesterday - if we can get Calvert-Lewin, Khan and Diego as a 3 behind Eyre it will cause any defence problems in this competition. That's taking nothing away from Coustrain either, who I thought was excellent last night and was unlucky to be taken off. We're pretty blessed with our selection of midfielders and the two strikers!

Jake Eyre has really developed his game this year. He hasn't been as prolific as he was early doors, but his all round play is getting better and better and he deserved his goal last night. I was gutted for him when his shot whizzed past the post late on. Also, I don't know if you've noticed this too but they've definitely had him on the weights recently. He gets bigger every time I see him and it's making him quicker too.

I think you'll make a great parent. :)

Let's put this whole 'following the first team' lark in the bin and just start going to all these games.

Excellent, Foxy, thank you! How many Blades fans were there? Sounded like a decent following.

I would guess 20-25. There were 15 of us all sat in the same 3/4 rows (mainly parents/family of the players, really weird that they ended up next to us, even moDtheGod sat behind us without realising at first) and probably a handful of others dotted around.

Bet you quickly realised that moDtheGod was behind you though...the miserable nob'eard.

You think I'm miserable because the only times you see me, I'm in the company of Ollessendro.

We didn't stay behind them too long anyway. We were allowed to take drinks out in the first half, but not in the second (why?) so we watched the second half onwards indoors, through the ridiculous blue tinted glass that made it near impossible to see.

Cheers Daz - sounded like there were a few there.

Rather like Saturday 13th Jan when we went down to Highbury and the match was on telly. It wasn't meant to be but due to snow causing the original telly match off and Highbury having under-soil heating, it was.

There were few Blades there except for a coach load of us (either Arbourthorne or Hackenthorpe SC - can't remember) and we were on the lower tier of one of the side stands.

We spotted a TV mic hanging down to catch the crowd noises so naturally that's where we stood.

We watched the match again in a pub and it sounded like there were thousands of us ther!

We drew 1-1 - they pasted us 4-2 at ours earlier in the season.

1967-68! The match at Highbury was on MOTD and when MOTD produced a video of Blades matches between 1965 and 1991, this match was featured for about 3 mins in the video including footage of snow covering the North Bank so the spectators had to watch from 3 sides of the ground

Thanks SB - I forgot to put the years - would have helped! :)

You could have made a decision not to drink and get a clearer view - in more ways than one :)
Don't forget, it wasn't the first team you were watching, which demands a certain level of alcohol just to get through it :o

I'd like to see dimaio on the bench very good player can't understand why he doesn't get many mentions bright future I think.

Foxy, did you once say you would be able to stream a match live? Are you looking to do it at some stage and if so would the next youth cup round be an option?

Technically, yes I could.

Legally, I think I'd be stopped very quickly :)

We'll be covering on Twitter and wherever possible will do the vids/pics that usually come with that.

Agreed. He's a brilliant little player.

He doesn't get the same attention as some of the others because he's not an attacking minded player but I've said a few times on here that he's one of the best prospects going under the radar. His performance at Bolton was one of the best I've seen from our lads at that level, and at Millwall the other night I don't know where he found his energy from. He was still chasing and breaking everything up in the last minute of extra time.
