No contest!

Eddie's best fight was against the Norwich striker Phil Boyer in a 2-2 League cup-tie at the Lane, after (or maybe before?) both were sent off.

The fight started in the middle of the pitch and ended near the old players tunnel, with Eddie on the attack, fists flying throughout. Great stuff.

Eddie Colquhoun, Eddie Colquhoun, Eddie.....

I had a grandstand view of that with a rare night on the terrace near the tunnel. Great scrap that seemed to go on for an age before anyone intervened! I know (through family connections) that big Eddie indeed finished Boyer off in the tunnel where no one could intervene!

You must be related to Eddie's Number One fan, Shred?

Lampard broke his leg at Bramall Lane in 1968 in a tackle with another tough United character, Willie Carlin, all 5ft4ins of him. Carlin was one of the smallest footballers I ever saw although I read that Bobby Collins, who died on Monday, was even shorter at 5ft3ins.

I remember that fight between Colquhoun and Boyer. It seemed to go on for ever. Another good one I recall involved our future favourite, Bob Hatton, when he was at Birmingham. In my mind's eye, Eddie was involved in that one too but it could have been Micky Speight now I come to think about it. Anyone?

looks like the match was at Upton Park. We wore those shirts in 1973-74 and 1974-75, I would think it was in 10th November 1973 (drew 2-2, Woody getting both goal-- the second a volley from a corner taken by TC) due to the fading light. I was at the 1974-75 fixture (we won 2-1 on a bright and a very windy day- Woody scoring a fantastic equaliser against the wind before Dearden got the winner) which was on Sept 7th

Missed the Birmingham home game on Feb 1973 in which we lost because i was in bed with flu!. I remember reading reports that Bob Hatton was sent off for fighting but cannot remember who with (we still had 11 men for the rest of the game)

Still doesn't beat:

Best feyt ever. Apparently carried on in the tunnel as well. It's the, "Ref! They're still feytin'" byb Paul Reaney that makes it funny.

pommpey

Bremner was a tough little fucker. But McKay would have battered him.

Anyone have any of Billy Tighshirt killing anyone?

No wonder it was the Damned United!! Ding ding, Round 3 anyone.

Later did it ever get revealed what it was all about?

Norman "bites yer legs" Hunter? Fucking hell, I remember thinking at the time that he slapped like a small girl, glad to see that despite the passing of time he really was a bit of a lightweight when it came to scrapping.

Micky Speight had a good punch up at Brentford Night match when all Blades fans got locked up for the night even the kids from the EDs Bus was guests of Scotland Yard.

Now here's a mismatch if ever there was one:

Great photo.

I've seen a version of that picture with more of the background shown. The Spurs player whose shirt can be seen to Mackay's left is Terry Venables. You can also see the referee running over to Bremner and Mackay. I think it was taken on the 1st day of the 1966-7 season.

I was one of those ,(not the EDS) ,3 times been locked up overnight for Utd ,that was the first ,because a guy had a heart attack wasn't it ? Also coming home from Millwall ,a coachfull of us stopped in Wellingborough and all got locked up for the night because someone got stabbed.
Port Vale was the other ,a mad mad day from start to finish ,which included us all getting taken off the Port Vale end and taken over to our end in full view of the cameras and my Mum watching on Sunday afternoon oops. Steve Neville who was sub got a bit clever but soon piped down when he was told to ,our bus was impounded outside while it was kicking off big time and we all got locked up in Leek nick until Sunday morning.

I remember Eddie being summoned for a booking at Mansfield in the F.A.Cup - unfortunately, the striker was still lying on the ground after the foul and was in a direct line to the referee.

So Eddie took the direct route and walked all the way up his body to get there.

Respect

I remember Yarmouth too after the Norwich game. I was not even in the area where there was any trouble the cops just came looking for people with Northern dialects. Heard later a group of Blades were in a disco and one ask the DJ to play "eveybody was Kung Fu Fighting" need not say more just at later games Blades would sing Yarmouth (forgot name) is upside down.

It's from this...

That is from our 2-1 win at White Hart Lane on Sept 15th 1973 (Woody and Bone the scorers). Alf Ramsey was watching the match and the Green Un in the following week was saying that Alf was full of praise about Woody's goal when talking to someone in the directors room during half time saying that it was a "clever goal" that fooled Pat Jennings. Do anyone here recall the goal?

I recognise Chivers is the Spurs player in WB's picture between Ted and Eddie..he got their equaliser..Wasn't Woody's goal off the post after one of his powerhouse shot's,and Jim Bone with the winner.

I liked Jim Bone a lot. He had a prolific, but all too brief, partnership with Billy Dearden.

I wasnt at the game so if you were there then that must have been the description of Woody's goal

His first goal for us was a great angled drive at Goodison Patk in February 1973. We lost 2-1, TC got sent off after fouling John Connolly and Joe Harper got Everton's winner. Bone's next goal was a neat chip over Bob Wilson at Highbury, we lost 3-2.

I think I recognise another Spurs player. He's in the picture but only just. Anyone?

I remember him getting two at The Lane, both at The Kop end I think. Pretty sure Billy D got the other. 3-1 win over somebody or other. Correct me on the detail if I'm wrong - I usually am!
