The last meeting got cancelled at the last minute so the points from the last thread will be taken forwards. These included:

* Feedback on ticket deals from season ticket holders - mixed. Will query value of season ticket v. on the day prices and try and get some figures for you.

* Stewards getting in the bloody way, particularly in game v. Walsall.

* Reaction to Annie's Bar. Any feedback/ideas?

Other points raised in this forum since:

* PA system in Westfield Corner. Safety issue?

* Ticket office hold message including more info about buying online

* More notice of categories of games - are these fixed at the start of the season? Should games even be categorised.

* Standards of stewarding - over-zealous in away end, too lax on smokers in home ends, not protecting staff.

Anything else?

What about making ST's the same price as renewals for new ST holders, scrapping all the £10 games as a consequence, and abandoning categorisation of different matches? Just have one price for the 3 different stands throughout the season, perhaps with the exception of sticking say £3 on a match ticket if the pigs are in this division next season to maximise revenue.

Also, how profitable is it to keep opening the Bramall Lane corner every week? Granted, the view is one of the best in the ground, but there usually isn't more than 4-500 people sat up there. Would it be worth closing it unless there is significant demand? The stewarding costs, whilst not astronomical, must be worth looking at saving over a 23 home game season?

They could put the one on the Bramall Lane end up on John Street instead, as the one up there is not only broken but naff.

The 'bricks in the wall' on John Street that were paid for by the fans are an unsightly mess and a disgrace. If I had one of them I would ask for the money back. Are the club going to spend the small amount of cash required to make them look worth while (as they appear to be on the South Stand side ?)

They are poor in a few places and it has been raised previously (not since the current SLO has been in that role though)... will give it another mention.

As a season ticket holder, I'm against that but I understand where you are coming from.

The club needs to be flexible in it's marketing and TBF, I want a loyalty discount for renewal against new season ticket holders.

However, I do wonder if the club ought to extend the discount to lapsed season ticket holders.

If they had one before, and want a season ticket again, let them have it at the discounted price albeit it in a different seat if their original one has gone.

What's the point in having a season ticket if it's the same price as not having one? It's not like the ground is rammed and you'd not get a seat, is it? Everyone who isn't a season ticket holder wants the same discount as those who have one. Well, tough titty. Discount = loyal customer bonus. Loyal customer = one who regularly buys. It's like demanding that Sainsbury's give you Nectar points despite you shopping at Tesco.

I would like to know just how much cheaper it is to renew a season ticket compared to buying on a match by match basis, and why having watched shitty third division football for too long we aren't getting offered a bigger discount. Never mind the price not going up if we get promoted, why hasn't it gone down?

I'm also a ST Holder but completely understand your
POV. There will be many who think the same. I just think that if we were to do this and people returned to the fold, it is worth doing. I think the lapsed ST idea is excellent.

Let's give those who gave up their season ticket a massive discount to buy one next season. Let's give them a 25% or even 50% discount to bring them back, and if that doesn't work, we'll slash even more off the price!

Ah, but what about those who have renewed every season? Fuck 'em, they're going to do it anyway, so let's pass on the discount to those who haven't renewed. And what about individual matches? Again, I know a lot of people will be against this. More an idea to shore up our supporter base than anything else. I feel it expanded massivley between 02-08 and we need to do what we can to keep a lot of people on board.

Most support has dwindled because we've been shit. I am aware that some people have stopped going for financial reasons, but I reckon that as a percentage of those who don't go it's quite small. Most stopped going because we've been crap, and you could argue that as they haven't shown any "support" for a team that possibly needed it more than when they were "good" then they don't deserve any discounts that long term loyalty gives.

You could argue that they are still supporters, and nobody is stopping them supporting Sheffield United, they're just stopping them buying tickets to watch United at the same discounted price as those who continue to renew season tickets.

The rewards for regular season ticket buyers' support have been rather sparse to say the least, and you propose to take away the only incentive for renewing a season ticket. After all, why bother renewing for the discount when everyone is getting it? It'll be like the sales at DFS, never ending, the same price for all, and all at a "discount". When everything is discounted then there are no true discounts.

I haven't got as many Loyalty Points as Foxy because I don't go to anywhere near as many away matches as he does. Is there any reason why then I should be in the same place in the queue as him when it comes to getting tickets for away matches I do fancy? No, there isn't. And neither should those who don't renew a season ticket get the same prices as those who do.

If our supporter base is in need of "shoring up" then there are two ways to do that. Win games, and make admission cheaper for everyone. Cut the price of every ticket next season by, say, 25%, and more people will come. But the most important thing is to win, and win well.

You make good points. I know I will be in the minority when it comes to this. What is your opinion on the £10 games? Do you think we should scrap them and abandon catergorisation of matches?

It seems to a fair number of season ticket holders that there are too many cheap games. I would counter this by saying that there aren't enough - a cut of all prices of at least 10% for every ticket might go some way towards boosting the crowd numbers. I also think that getting rid of the match categorisation would help - have all the matches priced the same. It's not as if we've got any that are likely to sell out.

Yeah, I've always taken issue with cat A/B etc. Wolves in theory shoukd bring the most and even they shouldn't be catergorised.
 
All games should be priced the same. There is no category A in this league. Certainly not Mk Dons. I took a friend to that. And was embarrassed at the price to be honest.

I'm a season ticket holder and if I wasn't I would weigh up going ad hoc and certainly wouldn't go on a regular basis. Our prices are too high for floating supporters. Especially after a diet of disappointment. I also think it's a bit too complicated to get a ticket if you just decided to go on the spur of the moment. Especially as half the ground is empty.

Cash turn styles and unreserved seating for the BLUT would be good. It's great up there and if the club encouraged people to go on it who aren't students who don't support us then it could lead to an improvement to the morgue like atmosphere.

I think there should be a couple of £10 games too. But make them on a Saturday and not only against the shittest team in the league. A lot tend to be against someone pap on a November Tuesday. With the best will in the world you won't get much of a gate boost there.

....and actually advertise it. Same with season ticket holder bring a friend deals. The people who aren't attending need to know. How hard is it to ask Paul Walker to mention it in the morning and on football heaven? Get James shield to mention it in the star.
 
One thing that occurred to me during the game. Quite a lot of Bradford fans got thrown out for celebrating their goals... some for being pushed through the gap in the barrier by their exuberant mates.

Now a lot of you will say "fuck 'em"... which is fair enough... but could a lot of the heavy-handed, mob-style stewarding be done away with by putting some gates on the gaps? Revolutionary concept, I know, but it'd stop the accidental encroachment meaning that anyone who was over the dividing line deserved it.

As a travelling fan, I wouldn't expect to be dragged out by five massive blokes for accidentally being shoved through a gap in the barrier that doesn't even need to be there!

I've saved a few forum members with a well placed block or drag back into the crowd when they couldn't stop in time :)

The stewards are absolute bellends ,no other sport would accept that their behaviour. Legal bullies who cause more trouble than they stop.
