It must be the reason we have left it so late .The playing field has evened out somewhat with the out of contract players now at the fore front.Clubs pricing us out have now to look at what can happen if the said player has continued to refuse to resign ! What we offer as a fair price or nothing at all! A dilemma for the club to think about! Are we now in the driving seat.Dunne or Darling or even one other! That is the question.

Didn't mention Darling

Dunne has excelled at RB. He's, according to the people who watch him every week struggled at CB.
If Dunne comes in and starts at RB next season, fine. Expecting a player who's been moved out of CB and gotten much better to be the calming influence the team and especially Anel needs is a huge ask

It's possible to identify players in other leagues/countries. The pool we are choosing from is so small that clubs know they can ask for huge premiums

It is possible to identify players in other countries or leagues, but as Wilder has said - the time taken to bed in would be more detrimental than helpful.

Also, would you prefer cheaper from a different league or more experienced in the league we're currently in?

I'd prefer a lead CB that our other CB can look to, helping him get back to his best. Not a lad moved to right back where he's excelled

Agree….but isn’t that Alfie Gilchriest? Spent all his career excelling as a centre back…he’s out of position when played as right back.

The problem is that he’s not the obvious Souttar replacement centre back that we need.
When we had Souttar defending crosses, corners and set pieces, almost felt like cheating
Because the opposition were never going to score.

Gilchrist is a decent option, but like you say he’s not a Souttar level CB.

Whoscored.com rate Dunne's performances at CB exactly the same as Souttar's.
 
I would love to know how all the bridges will be crossed (bids negotiated and accepted,agents players bollox,contracts negotiated,players bollox felt by nurse), to sign anyone in the time that is left,today is a match day (cross today off) Sunday (is a day of rest having a nap) and Monday (does anyone like Mondays).

Fucked it,going wi what we have.

I think the whole "experience in the league" thing is overstated. Esteve and Egan-Riley had 19 minutes experience in the Championship combined before this season and they're the best defensive partnership the league has ever seen. Get the best possible player for the position, regardless of league.

And in that time taken to get a CB in there, we lose - drop away from promotion and have to sell assets such as Hamer, Souza, Blaster ect

You all complain when we don't succeed, but then when the success isn't achieved in a way you're happy with you complain - you truly can't win 😂

Because none of that can have been agreed (in principle) already & merely requires signing once (if) fee agreed.
May be worth having a squint around you on your way home from Chapel, afore your nap, to witness what sometimes occurs on Sundays. God forbid but (some) football clubs arrange to play games of football in front of 60,000 folk on the Sabbath.
Not sure if medics , lawyers or accountants bother getting out bed until Monday mind😉

It' like our whole season will be wrecked because wilder is living the last three days of the transfer window based on advice from Elton John, The Commadores and the Boomtown Rats. This is why he'll never be managing at the top table.😢😡
 
Be worth keeping an eye on QPR's squad to face Milwall I suppose, so we might get an indication at where we are with this deal.

He plays today it's either going down to the wire or we're getting Harry Darling instead.

He doesn't play today and its probably very close to being done.

Wouldn't be the first time this January we'd made significant progress in a deal while the local media have missed it, look at Harry Clarke.

I suspect that firstly those that need to be involved in negotiating deals will be working both today and Sunday (worked weekends my entire working life so it does happen). Secondly deals get sorted all the time at short notice at this point in transfer windows. It’s hardly unusual.
