My Dad's favourite team, never shuts up about them. Just hope one day we can do something reminiscent of that so I can crow on about it to my kids!

Are you sure it is Dearden? Looks like Addison to me? I think the photo was taken a few days after the 3-0 win against Watford and maybe Dearden wasnt there cos he was having a cartilage op. Dunno why Reece wasnt there. Maybe they asked Ford and Addison (his last game for us was at Luton in Dec 70) to make it 11? I think it was a photo shoot for the Star and the pullout (you can see each one holding one each) was printed during the week after the Watford game. From TC clockwise - Dearden, Badger, Woodward, Hemsley, Hockey, Colquhoun, Ford, Flynn, Hope, Salmons.
Yes, Derek Hales broke Flynn's leg in the 3-2 defeat in October 1976. I was told that Eddie Colquhoun went over to Hales after the match and threatened to break his leg in the return fixture. Hales moved to Derby by the time Charlton came to the Lane in April 1977John Flynn looking fit and well. Have always had a bee in my bonnet about what happened to him at the Valley.

We have done something reminiscent of it since, twice.
Gained promotion to the top division like the 1971 promotion team. Yes, twice.

Could well be Addison Silent? Having had another look, I can see a case for both, with maybe favourite being Addo? Your assertion about Dearden's op could be the key.Are you sure it is Dearden? Still laughing at Sitwell's joke about Woody's smile!

I am keen on my Rotherham theory unless someone can say it really is the Lane bath. Ford played CF that game in place of Dearden. I am pretty sure Reece also played, but Addison may have been sub.
