Who said that?!?!

There, got your attention. What a day! I couldn't get to the game, but I'll be glued to the TV tonight.

This season, with justification I might add, many on here have said that a fair percentage of this squad haven't been fit to wear the shirt. From all accounts that opinion was turned on it's head today.

And what a manager we have in Nigel? I hope the board back Cloughie when he wants to sign future signings. He's been a breath of fresh air, we've finally got a manager that is fit to manage this club and understands the supporter's concerns.

The next 12-18 months are going to be some of the most important moments in this club's history. We've all seen too many false dawns, so not getting carried away, but day's like today have to be celebrated. Nigel, you are a fucking star. Well done Blades, and that travelling support was unbelievable, fanfuckingtastic!!!

I said under a couple of other previous managers when they've come in at the start of the season - don't let them sign anyone, see what they can do with the shit they've inherited.

Mr Clough has shown what he can do with the same players that Weir, Wilson and even Adams had and he's starting to get these players playing together and with discipline.

Doyle, Murphy and Flynn have all had stick so well done to Clough for getting them to finally play well.

Now do it week in week out in League 1

my wifes mate is a Derby ST holder. he always said that without the baggage of being his dads son ie at Derby or Forest he would make a great manager

This team should have been challenging the top 6 at the very least without any further additions. Hopefully this will give them the confidence to kick on.

I can't believe how lucky we were, because for once we were in the right place at the right time to take Clough.

I would rather have won next week in the League and must be the least excited person on this forum, however I agree we have got a star in Clough. I belive we will stay up comfortably and really kick on next season.

Absolutely right itsinyerblood. It's difficult for Blades to fully commit to a manager give a history of disappointment. BUT this guy is the real deal, a class act and numerous other clichés too many to mention.

As I say on another thread, the only (very slight) disappointment today is that I would have liked the fans to show a little vocal appreciation to NC. He certainly deserved it.

So come on, let's go to Notts in big numbers as Nigel Clough's Red and White Army!

Don't worry Pinchy, Nigel's mature enough to know what we think about him. As I said in my original post, what matters now is that the board give him the support he needs. If they sell him short our relationship with NC might be short lived, but that's too pessimistic to consider, so onwards and upwards and it's down to the Prince to put his money where his mouth is. In Nigel we trust UTB

I'm sure he will mate. Is it right the Prince made a surprise appearance today? I know the admirable Jim Phipps was there. Jim has already become a fervent Blade, I bet the Prince was blown away today (not literally I trust).

The plan as I understand it is for proportionate and continuing investment rather than a 'splash the cash' approach. That has to be the right way and I bet NC agrees. Indeed, as Director of Football now, in all but name, he'll be one of those making the plans.

Once again, a huge well done to players, fans and management alike.

I haven't been to many away games in recent years but I'm already making plans for Nigel at Meadow Lane! I want a piece if what 6000 had and deserved today. Let's make it happen again!

Cloughy is now officially one of our own. A Blades legend in the making!

Too true Gray. Did you go mate? That's a great photo. Put aside all the nonsense that surrounds football these days, the absurd money, the immature boys who think they're men, and it's moments like this that we all support the Blades for!

Absolutely superb pal, hope you're buzzing tonight UTB!

Yes old friend a fantastic day, I thought we'd seen the last of them.

I reckon the picture sums up everything about Cloughy! He wasn't stood still for a second, he lived breathed and kicked every ball every second of the game. Far more animated than I ever expected but I'm more sure than ever now that we are in safe hands at last. I hope the powers that be liked what they saw today and will back him because he's a 'proper' manager, well brought up by his genius Dad, well grounded and I reckon we fell lucky for once when he became available.

Nah mate, we might be poor old SUFC, but sometimes things have a way of changing. The thing is, if we lose our next game we'll all be scratching our bonces wondering where today's team went? But like you, Clough is the one - sounds a bit like 'The Matrix' that - and yes, we were the luckiest buggers alive to have secured his services. I recall how, on Blades Mad, Clough wasn't fancied and was way behind a few other choices. I know it's easy to be wise with hindsight, but he ticks so many boxes for me that all we have to hope is that he buys well too. Great to hear from you, and while I'm on the topic, I took your advice, tried to sign back on to BM and it wouldn't recognise me, so much for technical competency!

Take care Gray, UTB

You will enjoy the highlights. Flynn's winner was a sight to behold.....my initial reaction was "Is that Ryan Flynn or Arjen Robben cutting inside?" :)

Mr Clough has shown what he can do with the same players that Weir had

We'd had shipped 10 today under Weir.

I feel smug and proud tonight, first time for a long time and looking forward to seeing some people in the morning on the dog walk.

Great photo GrayBlade , but let's have a celebratory quiz:

Who is:
1. Hugging Dom Calvert-Lewin?
2. The bald guy just behind the embrace?
3. Chap with large watch in foreground?
4.Player being simultaneously hugged and ignored by Nigel (rather in the manner of the last dance with a bird you don't really fancy)?
5. Player about to share a romantic kiss with Neill Collins?
6. Larger player subject of affectionate glance (and attempt to hold his hand?) from Febian Brandy?

Just a bit of fun, of course. It's not that I don't know any of the answers.......honest.......

Can't help but feel the real battle is the transfer window. Not trying to sound like a grumpy old git, but if prince chubby chops doesnt cough up some dough, then how long will Clough be here anyway? Only a matter of time somebody else fancies him now. It could be the start of a revival, but it could all turn to crap really quickly if he doesn't get at least some leeway to build a promotion team. Then the merry go round starts again. Someone at the club has to have the cajones to back Clough properly. And no i don't mean throwing silly money around, but if it's true we're only looking at loan signings that's not good enough.
