Some in here leaked our interest in BBD and it was then reported in the media, never a good idea

It could’ve also been Southampton or BBD’s agent that leaked the interest.

It’s also pretty obvious that he’s likely to be available when he’s hardly kicked a ball this season.

I don’t think anything posted on here has alerted the media or rival clubs.

Can't see how Soton can justify doubling their money on a player that's hardly played for them.

It's hardly much good calling them ridiculous for wanting a x2 profit on BBD when we appear to be in the middle of paying 13m for...... Tom Cannon

If we spend 25 million plys on Cannon and Díaz we will be a laughing stock
combined value no more than 13/14 at best
We aren't paying more than £7m for BBD, I can tell you that now.

Cannon I can see us getting sucked in to a bidding war, but I'm not really surprised at his price tag. People seem to forget what we paid for McB and Brew who were of similar pedigree.

Sounds like Southampton are really taking the piss if the rumours are true.

£14m for a misfiring striker that they only paid £7m for?! Get fucked!

Not taking the picss. Know we have new owners and a top target of ours.. they can set the price and milk it as much as they like.

Welcome to the realism that comes with fishing in domestic market only.

Agree but this is one step too far. Don’t think we will agree to pay that amount and he will stay at Southampton.

Time for Wilder and the team to step up and do what they said, move on to list 2 quick. Late night meetings at Shirecliffe last night suggests to me that’s what’s happening so at least another 1/2 games before new players are recruited let alone match ready.

This could scupper our season.

Asking for double the amount you paid for a forward with 0 goals since is absolutely taking the piss mate, however you dress it up.

Who the hell is paying £14m for BBD? Just move on if they’re even wanting £7m.

You don’t pay more money for a second hand car that’s older & needs new tyres.

I like BBD & think he’d improve our squad and give the fans a lift as he engages with the crowd, but that kind of cash is ridiculous

To state the obvious, and unfortunately, clubs know we need to strengthen and they'll all be looking to fleece us. January never a great time to get value for money, and with the recent takeover they'll think we're minted and want a piece of it. Gonna be frustrating this, apart from any loans we can get.

Spot on mate.

If true it's foolish, as such values push BBD in a much higher market. Better value can be found with Whittaker or Mubuma ..

Kind of. But acquiring any player is because you need them. If we get promoted the situation will be the same. No one knows the new owners budget, and judging by the takeover duration they won't just throw money blindly.

Times like this you wish our European scouting network was better than it is. When you shop domestic it’s either expensive to get players from the top two leagues or you’re taking a punt on a L1/L2 player who might not improve you straight away.

Doesn't matter how good/poor our EU scouting network is whatsoever as Wilder will not sign forrins.....he has said as much himself.

Earlier in the season we were all on here bragging like cocky little so-and-so's about how we'd got so much for Trusty, Osula, Jebbison and now we 're having the same done to us we are all offended and upset.

It’s not really comparable though.

Trusty was poor for us and we were looking to get our money back.
BBD has been a disaster for the Saints and logic suggest they’d also be happy to get their money back.

So paying 7 million should be the max.
If they think we’re desperate they might be cheeky and push up the price slightly to 8 million
But the realistic option is inserting a promotion bonus. Suspect a 14 mil valuation is made up bull shit.

Regards Osula and Jebbison, altho both did little for us, however we all agree they both had huge potential for the future. It’s often difficult to put a value on “future potential”. Rich clubs regular waste money willing to pay large sums gambling on players that might end good and might end up being duds.
For a club like Newcastle paying 10 mil for young potential is a small gamble, it’s pocket change for them.

I don’t think personally the fee changes anything, I think it’s still about do they want him there or not for rest of season

If they are willing to sell or loan then the answer is still probably the same

They don’t need to do anything until the last few days or unless they get his replacement in so I think BBD still gets here on loan but it won’t be till end of window

All BBD has to say is it’s us or he is staying

He's literally already said that..

Yep but I meant more as in he just needs to carry on saying it if by any chance someone does agree to loan with option to buy

He just needs to say nah it’s United or I’m staying

Aye
Although
Plymouth have already declined bid(s) from Burnley who have now (allegedly) moved on to Cannon @ >£12m which suggests Whittaker is (even) more expensive
If your other ‘target’ is Mubama @ Citeh they have ‘form’ for extracting top dollar for (inexperienced) ‘fringe’ players , so again North of £12/15m ?

He probably looks at the recommendations he’s had so far in Traore, Slimane, Grbic, Retsos, Zivcokic, Verrips, Coulibaly, Larrouci & thinks I’ll make my own decisions thank you.

Hopefully the new owners will improve this side of us.
