Fully agree. The start of this thread is people saying "If he's available for £7m, we should get him"

£7m was a snip based on his performances for us last season
Without a doubt. We paid £20m+ for each of McBurnie and Brewster, who at best had had two good seasons in the the second tier, between them.

I didn't think we did for either. Both deals had a minimum fee with lots of add-ons, which Brewster certainly hasn't hit

Think McBurnie was £17 million anyway

What were the add ons? Not seen them detailed anywhere.

One-and-a-half of those strong Championship seasons were McBurnie's. 9 in 17 for Barnsley followed by 23 in 45 for Swansea. Given Wilder's insistence on signing British players he was the best option at the time.

The less said about the Brewster deal (10 in 20 for Swansea in empty stadia, including several which were somewhat fortunate - check the 'worldie' he scored against Reading as an example) in that context the better.

I thought they got a bargain, however his performances since the purchase haven't been good. If soton said £10m payable only upon promotion I'd think that fair enough. £15m seems a bit much.

We got Campbell for £0. If he hadn’t been injured and carried on scoring at the same rate we would have been fighting PL and foreign clubs off.

How many millions would we put on his head? £10-15, £15-20?

There’s an element of that, but I’m sure other clubs would have been offering more if he had a clean injury record.

He’s turned out a great signing so I’m glad for it.
Look how much back and forth there was from their initial valuation. We played hardball and came out on top. They wanted stupid money for a player out of contract in a year and other than us, Burnley and Leeds no other clubs would have the money to compete. Leeds probably dropped the ball by thinking they didn’t need a new keeper and Burnley have Trafford. So realistically we were only really ever the ones in contention to sign him. And we got him for an initial price that favoured us. Pretty sure “injury record” had nothing to do with it. It’s not like he has a recurring injury like Brewster. He did his ACL after a fat pig landed on him. That’s it.

True, but he's missed loads of football for us and he did so for Stoke in the seasons previous.
It's part of the reason his career has stalled.

No other clubs would have the money apart from 20 richer clubs in the league above us. An injury free keeper with the stats of Cooper surely would have PL interest.

Rightly so, if it's true they've tried to insert a £15m obligation to buy clause into the deal.
They only paid £7m and he hasn't done anything to justify an increase on that.

Overpaying for Cannon won't help with this deal, if we haven't already moved on.
Didn't know that, oh well

I'm not sure his performances can even be judged.

He started their first 4 games of the season.

Since then he's been used as a substitute on 6 occasions with a total of 133minutes over those 6 games

It seems they gave up on him before September was out

See someone on pigs site saying he has got cold feet and not coming, don't know how they would know this though
Haven't you learnt yet they know all about us on Porktalk, well all the negative stuff anyway.
United must remove that 'Do you support Sheffield Wednesday' question on our application forms and stop hiring Wednesday fans.

Given the amount of crackpots Southampton have round the club, can’t we threaten to go down there and talk bad to water or fly multiple planes overhead for some chemtrails if they don’t agree?

It’s almost looking like this was actually never as advanced as some made it out to be, I for one am shocked 😮.

And if you ever wholeheartedly believed he was set on just Sheffield United or staying in Southampton then I’m envious of your positivity.

We were only going on what Wilder said at last presser

It is possible that it was verbally agreed as per the media reports, but then Southampton decided to change the deal once Sunderland and Blackburn apparently showed interest.

Southampton Football Club have announced that Henrik Kraft has decided to step down from his role as chairman of the club.

It’s been confirmed that Dragan Šolak, majority shareholder of the Premier League club’s ownership group will be taking on the role.
Surprised by Kraft, with all that wedge🧀.

Coyats on,....s'long🤓

Some in here leaked our interest in BBD and it was then reported in the media, never a good idea
