Zero upside for us in giving them an "option to buy" and having no recall option.
Strange bit of business, especially late in the window with a thin squad.

He'd have had plenty of minutes had he stuck around, but definitely not as a starter.
I just don't think there was a place for him in Wilder's system. He's not a winger and in midfield there's already O'Hare and Hamer. Could've kept him as a squad player, but I don't think that would've done him or the club any favour.

Perhaps not, but still feel we didn't look after ourselves very well on the loan terms.

True. Would've been better to just sell him or at least make it an obligation to buy. But as you said, it was late in the window and there probably weren't many clubs interested in him.

I guess he's happy with his mid table hope to get into play offs push.

Can't say I am particularly bothered how it goes for him now. He clearly wanted out.

I saw some evidence of talent. I also saw a complete failure to find a role where he could contribute.

He’s clearly a bit of an enigma. Happy to let Norwich puzzle him out.
Every time he played I could not work out what he was supposed to be doing, or what position he was supposed to be in. Even that bright cameo against Brentford seemed a bit odd in terms of him being that high up the pitch.

Slimane never seemed up to the pace of the game, so I'd be happy for him to move on permanently.

As for the details of the loan and option to buy, I see no reason to think the club didn't get the best possible deal in the circumstances. Look at the rest of the business we pulled off over the summer.

The matches he did play, (to be fair was not a lot) never noticed him. And when they subbed him I had to look twice, because I didn't realise he was on the pitch... passenger at best 👍

If we haven't found a suitable centre nid by end of Jan window then yes i think very good shout.

Peck and Davies won't be enough to carry us over the line imho.
No chance you see Slimane return. He’s not done enough at Norwich & fell out with Wilder on his way out. Watch the post match Barnsley press conference to see what Wilder thinks of him (subtle digs)

Football League World reporting today that a £ 1.2m deal has been done, with Slimane signing a 3 1/2 year contract with Norwich.
Nice money for us methinks if true !

Good. He was never going to be good enough for us. He wanted to go, CW wanted him gone, and if we have our money back from the fee we paid, then that is a top result. I remember when we signed him, the view from the fans who were the selling club couldn't understand why a PL were in for him as they thought they had better players than him who were more likely to be a better fit for us. Problem was, our recruitment team at the time didn't agree. Poor signing for us.

Almost like he never arrived, and now he’s left leaving a nothing legacy. I’m an existential poet

and then we may see him again on Satday to score the winning goal.
