new striker

If it's Madden we are going to have to give him some time to get to match speed.

I am not sure how many games Stead has played, however I feel he is good enough for where we are are now. He will have to prove that he is up for a promotion push whilst on loan.

I am kind of hoping it's Sammon from Derby as he has had a lot of game time and will hit the ground running.

I am not sure we need more than 1 striker at the moment as I am sure we can pick up someone quickly if someone goes down in the next month or so. I would prefer to buy if someone comes available or not, but don't see the point in loaning 2 or 3 as the team is proving itself good enough to get away from the position it's in.

* Before anyone asks, I am working :(

Don't want either. We are Blades so now we should be looking much higher to get where we want to be.

Someone who looks the part for walsall today and then is a complete bag of shite when we sign em is my guess ;)

Connor Sammon , sorry Blade I know we have a history of getting shite players , he would be in the long line of shite players , gets the odd goal , but he was even crap playing for UCD over here , and only got his game for Ireland due to the hoof football of the previous manager , being in work must be affecting your head brother , would be a fucking shocking signing in my opinion , now back to work , sorry to say I don't go back till tomorrow .:)

Madden us a one season wonder IMO, I hope we don't sign him to be honest. I think he's pulled a lot of wool over a lot of people's eyes after scoring a few last season after getting released by Carlisle. He's reasonable, but really don't see him beig the goal scorer we need.

Similar for stead, I'd only be happy with stead if we signed a goal scorer he could play alongside. However great stead was, he's never been prolific.

If we really have the cash we should put a cheeky bid in for Coventry's forward line. They need the money and we have the money (allegedly)

Am watching SSN and just noticed that Chris Porter has given the lead, My son (who dislikes Porter) is having a shower at the moment so I sang outside the bathroom "There is only one Chris Porter!, there is only one Chris Porter". He opened the door saying "No way!" :)

I'd love us to sign a forward with an eye for goal, but depending on who Clough identified, we'd be looking at £1.2 mil to 3mil (figure quoted for Wells at Bradford). Not sure if this is what the Prince would finance at this stage. Could be wrong, but I'd think £1mil tops and then the serious changes we've been promised in the summer.

The best we could hope for is a young striker on loan from a "top" premier league side.

On a much lighter note, anyone remember the guy from Inter Milan "the next big italian star"
Goran Slavkovski who is currently playing for KSF Makedonija in the Swedish 6th division. We could end up with one of him again.

He was nicknamed earlier in his career as "Ibrahimović II", because of his similar stature and style of play with Ibrahimović, and playing for FBK Balkan and Malmö FF.[2]

Clough says loans only this January. As for the summer, £3m on one player is surely unwarranted for this division. If we ever spend that sort of money on a player I'd expect it'll be when/if we're threatening the top of the Championship.

Patience and realism needed in the meantime.

Kind of what I was intimating JohnDenver. Agree with that, so a bit puzzled how some posters think we'll get a guaranteed scorer (plus wages). If we get lucky and sign someone who can add more threat then I'd be happy, but in this division we'll struggle to attract the sort of quality that only a Championship team could consider. It's the very reason why Fryatt and Wickham went to the owls. Both decent players and the sole reason why Wendy have given themselves a chance.

Is Forte doing anything at the moment?

Hopefully not Stead.

Don't understand why people always crow for old players to return

I'd like Sammon, because if he scored a header there would be plenty of room for seafood related jokes.

Also, he'd add some strength and fight to our attack.

Any fight to this team would be good.

From what I've seen from Conor Sammon he's pants, Stead is ok but wont ever score lots of goals. I think we need to look elsewhere.

I have just been looking at Grant Holt who doesn't get a game now under Rosler at Wigan who prefers youth.

He would be perfect IMO, however his wages are probably very high.

A prize cock and no mistake. But surely good enough for another Championship club I would have thought.
