I was speaking to Eskimo, Eddie Evans, a couple of weeks ago, he lives next door but one to my Uncle.

He's a smashing bloke and very dedicated to his family.

He was at Martin Kartwicks (BDS) funeral a couple of weeks ago too.

Don't you mean CJ s in Broomhall ,or Chattoos on Chesterfield Rd ? Had many a Red Stripe in both of them.

Went to CJs plenty but only ever went twice to Chattoos. Preferred CJs, always a good after party in there on a Satdi night. Good mix and a good vibe. Ended up in there one night with Bez after a night at the city hall. Good memories...

Yeh I remember them both. They were a little older than me and members of the Pond St Gang I think. I think Butlab (that was my interpretation of his name)was named Butler and a Wendesdayite. Saw em both in punch ups in the late 60's. Eskimo had a punchup with some guy who pulled a razor on Park Hill.
They were often on Park hill as I recall. Needless to say the guy who pulled the razor came second. Also saw Butlab have a fight with a guy outside Silver blades. Fight lasted about 10 seconds and finished with Butlab winning easily. I wont go into detail.
They would have been classed as Greasers in them days. I went down the skinhead/suede head route. But never came across them as far as I know after that.

When i was 16/17 ish got smacked by eskimo in bogs of the olde tyme music hall, above ice rink, i was on an engagement do. When my mates mate found out (he was a big hitter , mid 20’s who every one knew, i didnt )went after eskimo and eskimo nearly shat himself

I new Eskimo well, and cat, elvo and butlab, all from around pond street and the gallery. As said, butlab was a pig, used to hang around manor top

willie ward used to come in to the back of the kop at 2.55 with the zigga zagga chant he was a big lad will always remember the shoreham in that era half greasers in leathers and half skinheads with doc martins had their differences but nobody took liberties on the kop in those days apart from wednesday twice in testimonials when none of our lot turned up and some of em still brag about it today but never came remotely close to doing owt like that in league games when all our boys were there
