Why does that bottom line state something about Chelsea recalling Gilchrist BTW?

Not sure if he's just trying to get his word count up or if there's a possibility of it.

Curtis was recalled today 😲
Think Fabrizio Romano posted something recently about a number of PL clubs being interested in Gilchrist on a permanent.

Are you suggesting we’re going to sign both Grimes and Choudhury?

Only reason I can see us signing two defensive midfielders is if we’re selling Vini. 🤦‍♂️

I would be amazed if we sold Souza in this position, but would also be surprised if we signed both of these.

I think Choudhury can cover at RB, so that might play into it though?

Wilder said Seriki and Shackleton should be back for the Norwich match. So with Gilchrist we should have more than enough RB cover.

Unless Gilchrist is being recalled by Chelsea? But surely we’d sign either Grimes or Choudhury and a RB/CB to replace Gilchrist.

Signing both Grimes and Choudhury only seems to make sense if a midfielder is leaving.

Fair enough. I missed the bit about Shacks and Seriki being back for the Norwich game. To be honest though, Chris has been ambiguous about injuries recently. I hope players are back for Norwich, but I have a feeling some of the injuries are worse than he is letting on. We'll see.

I reckon Souza, Davies, Peck, Choudhury, Grimes, Brooks, O’Hare and Hamer is about right 8 players 4 positions.

Maybe going to change to 4321 formation due to the Rak Sakyi injury might not be affordable targets for the wide areas.

It probably doesn't work like this, but in my mind if the deal has been lined up for a few weeks (which it sounds like it has), the paperwork will get sent to the FA today, and hopefully approval will be received before midday tomorrow so he can face Watford. But what do I know?
Danny Hall incoming with “one final snag”.

wonder if thats the 3 brereton choudray and grimes mind still need a centre back surely 🤔

I wonder what we mean when we say we need a left winger. If we sign Diaz it is to score goals, wherever he starts, not for his creative play. We need a second regular goalscorer who can start in the three attacking midfield roles, or 10 and two wingers or wide forwards roles or whatever we want to call them. That balances us having only one striker up top. From what I have seen of Diaz, he is essentially a striker in his skillset and what he offers a team, although he is able to undertake his defensive and tactical duties comfortably from a wide position, since he started playing in those positions. What we also need in an attacking sense is creative width on the right hand side. We have two inverted wingers in JRS and Brooks, which works in theory if we have a full back or midfielder going outside of them as Burrows does on the left, but we don't. So I would say we need a second goalscorer and a player he gives us attacking and width on the right. I think we are fine with Hamer, OHare starting on the left as needed, the only issue is if we can better use them elsewhere. Diaz for me is great, because he can play in any of those attacking roles and give us goals ( he scored most of his goals for us last season as the right sided player in a front two). If Campbell ( who has also spent most of his career starting in wide positions like Diaz) is fit or Moore finds form, he can start out wide left or right and otherwise I think he is the ideal centre forward for our system and we can still have Hamer, OHare and JRS behind. Unless Seriki emerges as a starting option or we sign a new right back, then I would say the next priority after a goalscorer is a 'right winger' who can create chances.
