Can only be a loan - he's on PL wages for 4 years - we can't match that in a permanent contract as a Championship club.
Unless he's got a relegation clause , which I dunno about.

I’d be shocked if he doesn’t have a relegation clause in his contract, it would be complete incompetence on Southampton’s part if they didn’t include one.

I think loan with an option/obligation to buy is most likely but I wouldn’t rule out a permanent transfer either.

If this deal isn't done for watford game I'll be disappointed bearing in mind how we desperately need reinforcements asap and why can't it be done early. Maybe the change if ownership has delayed things as Wilder mentioned the meeting with the owners on the 27th.

We definitely want him in for the Cardiff game as hell end up playing for Southampton in their cup match if he's not arrived by then and he'll be captured thereafter; not that a cup run is of particular interest I know but we could have a decent run in the cup like we did under Hecky.

i doubt wilder will be putting a strong side out in the cup game booker with the position were currently in league will be the priority

I think the cup game will be compromised of mostly kids with a sprinkling of first teamers mate.

Fair point. But I would imagine it will be the same for Cardiff and it's at the lane. If we can get the likes of Shackleton and Seriki back then we could field a decent side still. I know it's low priority and maybe will just want us knocked out for rest weeks!

I’m almost certain agent talk will have been going on with any high priority targets for January regardless of whether the limbo of the takeover was in full flow.

We should be positive about other targets as we know Des Taylor has been working with wilder and the consortium for some time, the meeting on the 27th will have more likely been a “who are pulling the trigger on” exercise with the additional challenges of the injury list now being taken into consideration. One narrative I’m not able to fully believe is that if we are slow in the market again, it’s the takeovers fault, at that point I’d be looking at the efficiency/effectiveness of our requisition team.

Agreed. Get through the first couple of rounds and when the squad is replenished, cup games might help with fitness levels for returning players.

We all love a cup run, but ultimately the cups end up being won by Prem teams.

Spending big, I’m talking £10-15m in fees in the Championship. Spending big in the PL is altogether a different ball game.
For each player we need??
Since we are thin all over, needing 4-5 bringing in, follow that through and they would be spending £40-75m . Won't happen, and shouldn't either.

We does everyone seem to think it’s a done deal?

Because this is the rumour mill. It’s where hard or even any evidence is prohibited and where the number of pages on each thread runs high enough that the protagonists get lost in the noise and are never held to account for spouting such shite in the first place. Welcome.

Weeeeerrrzzz paperwork?

….abd I’ll digitally punch any fecker that sez it’s int fax machine

For this season I don’t think it’s that high to continue the rebuild.
I’d personally like us to have signed BBD and used that loan on a forward, McBurnie if he’s available.
There seems plenty of positive options on a permanent centre half from within the league which would be sensible for the longer term regardless of where we are next season.
Which leaves two loan spots one of which Id like us to use on someone like Morton as long term we have Ollie and Peck so we don’t need a Perm.

Maybe, but the balance has to be right, based on promotion not being certain. If the player is good enough for the prem longer term and affordable if we don't, maybe. I doubt we can build enough depth in a season, without more prem money. Need the loan.players as an insurance, get us up then move them on.

If you think that Moore isn’t going to be playing you probably need to have a rethink.
Why ?
He was shocking against WBA, his ability to hold the ball up is virtually none existent and he somehow managed to pass the ball to a WBA player 4 or 5 times.

He had a very poor game against WBA, but saying his holdup is non-existent is bonkers. Yes it was in that match.
Maybe CW will pick one of our crop of fit and ready forwards who hasn't ever had a bad game instead.

Exactly my point. You continue the rebuild with players in the mould of Cooper and Burrows where we identify players with great growth potential but are ready now for the Championship. A centre half who is a longer term option to play next to Burrows would be perfect as the next defence would really be taking shape then. Edwards would have been perfect but we missed that boat in the summer and had no chance once Southampton came in.
All the loans need to be quality who are going to immediately add something we can’t afford whereas the perms are longer term projects.

Relax all. If he were going to Ipswich I certainly wouldn't know.
My first post of the new year had to be a little mischievous.
Start as you mean to carry on. 😁

he did have a poor game against baggies but it doesnt help when the ball is being pinged at him at full pace

His hold up play is mostly terrible, he either looses the ball to the defender challenging him, or it bounces of him about a yard in front of him usually resulting in the opposition winning the ball back, he just seems incapable of making the ball stick.
Sorry but I was expecting better from him, probably the most disappointing of our summer signings.
I also never said that Wilder should "pick one of our crop of fit and ready forwards", i was commenting on someone who had said that Moore would start even if we did sign a striker.

Don’t see us spunking any big fees out in January, especially numbers in excess of £2-3m on a single player.
BBD will be a loan at best. Maybe the kid at Preston could be picked up for a low initial fee given his contractual situation with a higher balance subject to promotion.
Yeah well...let's be honest you don't exactly have the most optimistic Outlook on life

Have you only ever seen him play once
Don't why I even bother replying to you
You're just a troll

Agreed. When he played for us we often commented on his first touch and control which were excellent. Unless he's had his toes chopped off I can't see how that has changed.
