Brewster

I've wanted him to turn things around for soooo long, but I'm giving up hope now :(

final thing to try is to lock him in a room for 24 hours with a TV showing a continuous reel of Mo Salah finishing by gently and accurately dinking the ball past the keeper.

Brewster ALWAYS hits it as hard as he can, either straight at the keeper or into row z of the kop

I think he has an exceptionally powerful shot which helped him get goals at the youth level, especially playing in a Liverpool youth team that probably carved out a lot of chances for him in the penalty area.

He's then gone to Swansea and got 10 in 20 games. If you watch the highlights reel of those goals, some are very fortunate to have gone in and some were tap ins. I think the goal return flattered him.

Carry on to us and his all round play has been found wanting so badly. Poor runs and positional awareness. Doesn't get many chances and when he does he is always going for 100% power which either misses or goes straight at the keeper.

He seems a proper nice guy but you can't detract form the stats over 4 years.

If you can’t detract from the stats, does that also include time out with injuries and games where he’s come back in building match fitness?

It doesn't say anything about Brewster, it says that we're playing a more balanced team than the other day. Now he gives us an option of the bench.

More balanced? Why?

If Brewster played well he’d be starting again.

If it’s more balanced side today why did we not go for a more balanced side against Burnley? To those saying he wasn’t that bad the other day that’s your vote of confidence from the manager. Hopefully he doesn’t bring the useless twat on as everyone knows he’ll do fuck all

Because the other day we didn't have a right winger and had Brewster looking lost playing out of position as a number 10 trying to play through balls, with O'Hare ambling about equally as lost on the right.

Brooks for Brewster means we should be playing the same as what we've had most of the season, with Brooks on the right doing a bit more tracking back than JRS does.

Wilder has messed about with the system in every game we've lost this season, he obviously prefers Brewster over Brooks but moving other players to accomodate him in a position that doesn't suit him was dumb, but that's on Wilder, not Brewster who was about as good as he can be in that position (not very).

Didn’t have a right winger? We had Brooks?
He started Brewster because he came on against Cardiff and showed a few nice touches. For what it’s worth I thought it was the right call. Turned out to be a disaster because Brewster had an awful game. If he wanted “balance” he should have played Brooks, but clearly he’s not pulling up any trees behind the scenes. I don’t expect that to change today.

TL;DR Brewster has been dropped because he was shite against Burnley.

Brewster was ok Saturday. I didn't get the hate
That's it, you don't get that it's NOT hate.
It's people's genuine disappointment that he has consistently failed to achieve what was expected of him.
Hate has nothing to do with it.

Sadly, he's useless and shows no sign of "turning it around". He'll move on when his contract is up, but if we could find somewhere to take him in January, (even if we still had to pay a portion of his remaining contract) then it would be better for all concerned

I don’t think wilder’s vanity project to turn him into a utility forward is working. Maybe we could try playing him as an actual second striker for a bit or, just bite the bullet, and pay him up. A number 11 or 7 he certainly isn’t… wilder needs to accept this.

Amazing how when we have an injury crisis to the extent where I needed to decline a spot on the bench today that people want to save zero money and let a senior player leave

I find it tragic we are discussing one of our players like this.
You think he’s doing this on purpose? It’s all about confidence and he’s never going to get it back without support.
I totally get your point but you have to remember were not talking about a £500,000 player here. For £20m even before he's had the injuries he's looked like a League One player. He tries to hit every shot in the roof off the net but doesn't have the technique for that on a consistent basis so he skies shots.
