David Weir has joined Brentford as a number two, that's his level.

I think the number two role suit him. A few seasons cutting the oranges in half won't do him any harm. Still expect him to be Premiership manager sometime in the future.

He'll never make a sucessful First Team manager whilst he has got an hole in his arse, assistant manager or coach is a different role entirely though, so we will see.

I also wish him well. I think that he took the wrong job too early for him and us. He will probably do well after he finishes his apprenticeship

Can't see him learning anything valuable, he appeared to be too pig headed. So far Cloughie has demonstrated what a capable thinking manager can do with pretty much the same squad. He's adapting to changing circumstances between and during games. He's changing players and formations depending on the opposition and the situation on the field. He's instilling discipline in players who need it and motivating those that need it. The players all seem to know now what is expected of them and unlike under Weir look like they are enjoying it.

All the best to him, he just took on a job that was too big for someone with his experience. Why slag the bloke off he didn't want things to turn out as they did, he tried his best but sadly the job was too much for him, with experience he may yet make a good manager just depends if he learns from his mistakes. At the time we could not afford to wait for him to learn from those mistakes, move on fella's he is history.

He may well become a decent manager one day if he has learned lessons from his brief time at the Lane

He needs to get some lower league experience first. This should be a good role for him & he will be better for it.

I wish him all the luck in the world, the wanker.

The biggest problem with him was his inability to learn though, it was obvious his tactics were wrong yet he stubbornly stuck to them thinking he knew best when it was obvious he was wrong.

I dont think he'll ever make a good manager

Bert was talking yesterday to somebody who knows him personally. Apparently he overestimated the player's ability prior to taking the job.

Bert could have told him...they're all shit.

How is Cuba Bert ? My stocks of Havana Club Anejo Especial have ran dry but fortunately I have found out Tesco sell it. We are looking at booking again for next October

Bert was there for a 4 weeks, he can report that Cuba is fine. He intends to return there in the New Year for a month or two.

For second time visitors Bert would recommend flying into Holguin and staying at one of the Guardalavaca hotels, either Costa Verde (avoid Blau Costa Verde) or Playa Pesquero. Take days trips out to Santiago and a Saturday night in Holguin (home of the world's finest Mojito, in the 1720 bar). You might even see Bert in there.
