The Club put on a reminder to fans that league rules say that pyro is not allowed at matches... a particularly pertinent point for us after the thousands of pounds of fines and work we had to undertake a few years ago.

This is the response...

I know it's a bit pathetic, but rules is rules. Instead of lobbying those in charge to change the rules, they're willing to risk us getting another big fine. United don't make the rules, but they're the ones who'll suffer.

So yeah... get us another League imposed fine. But look at yourselves when we can't afford another central midfielder.

Do you think it is worth sending this to SUFC? Looks like someone has 'fessed up to distributing them.

And what pisses me off is that I was away at Forest in 92(I think) when we played in white, hodges scored and we sent Clough senior's team down. Someone let off a flare in the away end, like was normal at the time. You could go into somewhere like boat world on London road and buy handheld distress flares in red or white.

I think we had them I the away end at the sty and one or two other places - without problem. But the knobhead at the away end at forest decided that rather than hold his until it burnt out, he'd throw it... Landing on a kid and resulted in a nationwide ban of flares from football grounds.

That was my understanding at the time... Please correct if I am wrong.

And now we have twats wanting flares again after 92 then 2002/03 v Leeds and the pigs and now 2013 at Bradford and Bristol.

They need to grow up. #twats

Memries.

I got lambasted on twitter and got told to get a life for saying I wanted nothing to do with th pricks that insist on letting off flares and smoke bombs at games. 'A bit of fun' was the consensus. Couldn't give a shit about others.

Until you start chucking 'em round, flares aren't dangerous. But if you're that fucking thick that you're willing to cost the club thousands, then frankly, I wouldn't trust you not to go lobbing 'em round "cus itz a laff innit".

And smoke bombs:

a) look shit

and b) smell awful

Agree knobheads chuck em

I actually think they have a place at the San Siro in a Milan derby and provide some ambiance to an already majestic sight. Whereas at Leyton Orient on a cold November afternoon in the East end - that just looks shit.

There was one let off at Brentford this season and to be fair it also looked shit but not as shit as the shite on the pitch at the time in Canary yellow. It didn't stink half as much as the team did on that occasion.

Just for you Linz - i can tek em or leave em - it's a mute point ;)

'Youngsters in acting daft and giving us oldies the up yours' shocker. Not really a major issue of all the shit going on at SUFC currently.

Statement from the Handsworth Blades Supporters Club Committee:

"Having just attended the supporters club exec meeting it has become clear that the finger is being pointed at us for pyro being used at away games ,If you travel under the supporters club banner PLEASE don't bring any pyro ,if you travel independently and get caught please state you made your own way to the game,
This may end in tears as I fully expect a visit from the boys in blue."

It's a shame it comes to this. I think they add to the atmosphere and have some sympathy with anything that pushes back at the rah rah atmosphere that's taken over football. This said, I appreciate there's another side to it.

Personally, I don't mind, other than the fact it's generally a pathetic attempt at Pyro and looks a bit sad :)

If there were areas where like-minded could be, away from those with respiratory problems and who don't want to be involved not inconvenienced, then I'd be all for it.

But there aren't and rules are rules and repeated warnings have been ignored.

Even when one of the daft chuffs was caught with a spent smoke canister on his person some time ago (clearly, the brain of britain), a number don't seem to have learned.

Let's face it. If I was a youngster (16-25) now, I wouldn't touch football with a bargepole. Booze free away ends, ludicrously priced tickets, expensive travel, shit atmosphere with over zealous stewards. Sat with miserable, middle aged whingers more willing to boo than sing (not jus SUFC, it's universal).

If they don't make wholesale changes the game will be dead in 30 years. They're giving 'bird' to kids (who are daft and should no better) for running on the pitch or letting smoke bombs off. Worlds gone mad.

I don't really see the point TBH. Wooo, a load of smoke. Who cares. I don't care either way. I won't lose any sleep over them being banned.

Maybe you're right, but remember that big things are often made of lots of small ones. English football didn't arrive at its' passionless state based on any single big decisions.

I hope the idiots who think United are the ones being "mardy" read that... the headline is completely over the top though.
I'd actually be in support of the FL banning us from an away game or even having to play a home game behind closed doors as punishment.

I'm amazed that people are being imprisoned for bringing smoke bombs into a football ground. Seriously?!

heh.. they have loads of them here in Austria.. it's all part of the crack.. anyway. thank goodness. i thought that 'oxford bags' had made a reapperance

To reiterate I don't condone it, but it seems unduly punitive. Particularly given the sentences dished out for other offences. For all those who set off smoke bombs in school assembly, beware!

Only 24% had their view of the pitch impaired, obviously larger pyro needed.

I'd like to think that there may be someone developing a 'safe' flare/smoke bomb that football can sell for use in the grounds.

It can add to the atmosphere but of course it's got to be safe.
