When we signed him he was our premier league experienced signing. His playing record isn’t horrendous if you look beyond the last two seasons.

Hopefully Wilder can get him on the pitch regularly and back to his best. We saw him get a few players in the past - one that springs to mind is McGoldrick who Ipswich fans always said struggled with injuries.

I like the way he’s being slowly reintroduced to the team too. It would have been easy to have him on the bench in the last couple of games when we’re light on numbers but Wilders resisted temptation.

The timeline for Davies' return has always had this international break as its target. Getting 90 mins for the U21s is the final step; he'll probably play in their next game then be ready to make a long-overdue appearance for the first team.

GLTTL.

Wilder said that he'd play yesterday, which he did, then he's ready again for selection. It certainly makes our bench stronger, though it won't improve us in the final third.

He is at least someone who can come on for Vini, if needed. Could be vital if he stays fit and we don't have money in January.
Having Davies fit and available gives us the clear ability to switch to a midfield 3 too: Blaster/Peck and Davies either side of Souza.

Just to echo what others have said about how important he could be, if he can stay fit.

He’s played over 150 Premier League games and come through a good set up with Everton, so he certainly had the capability and experience to help get us over the line.

Hope it can work out for him as he seems a genuine, caring person.

We're struggling to create enough in the final third, any combo of those three would create absolutely nothing. We're defensively solid enough with just Vini and Arblaster/Peck.

Agreed but it's nice to have 4 players who can slip in that position it's a long season and one more injury we've only got Shackleton as cover
January has to be targeting front 3 players and not cover players, guys who are equal or better
Centre half,ATM jlt is our only cover (impressed with jack covering up to now but injuries to anel and Souttar and we're in trouble)
Attacking midfielder/winger x 2
Centre forward ?? I think Campbell has shown he's cover for Moore but do we need another?

I would say that given Arblaster’s injury his return to fitness is potentially the best thing that will happen to us this season.

I’m not holding my breath with his fitness. He’s had a lot of bad luck, like Brewster and you can’t expect much from him, his soft tissue injuries seem to take forever to get over.

Pretty sure he was injured when we signed him or his fitness was questioned. Certainly his record in the year before we signed him rang some alarm bells.

But it’s a positive that he’s made a full 90 for the u21’s and as Balham says, he’s on track as per Wilders schedule.

So fingers crossed we can see him in the squad, finally.

Nothing against the lad coz he seems enthusiastic & likeable.
But too risky for a 3 year contract unless modest wages , weighted heavily towards availability & appearances plus a relegation clause.
Unfortunately my suspicion is that we are paying Brewster level wages for another crock.
Hopefully having had our fingers plenty burnt , we'll get ever wiser.

Davies was bought for what he should bring to a newly promoted PL side. Until he proves that potential, any talk of a new contract is just that, talk.
He seems likeable and of good character, but until he brings the quality and experience expacted of him, his value is limited. I’m sure that he and his agent will know that.
I hope things work out for him as he seems a decent bloke.

Welcome back sir.
Nice to see him, pity it was only a few minutes. Seemed lively, lots of movement. Team mates seemed happy for him after the match too.
I would've given him the minutes over Shackleton. The game was won and we know Shackleton is fit. Would've liked to have seen Davies get 30mins instead

Would be nice to see more of him, but Wilder is just easing him in, which is annoyingly sensible. He did the same with Campbell and now he's flying. Hope the same will happen with Davies.

Took five minutes to get him on the pitch, he was stood on the touchline waiting to come on for a fair bit before he finally got subbed on.

Looked really comfortable in possession working little triangles.

Great to see

Agree...thought he slotted in well and looked decent, didn't look put of place

but when you consider his past 2 years then it was very encouraging....you can see he can play a bit.

Because of his injuries, he has (perhaps rightly) been dismissed. But this is a lad with 164 Premier league appearances under his belt (some of those in a half decent Everton team). If by some miracle he can put a run of games together he would be another step up in a strong area.

Very good to see him get some game time after all the injuries he’s had. Not putting much expectation on him as we know how that goes with players returning from long injury lay offs.

Hope he’s able to get a few games in though

Not a patch on Barry Bannan who has 64 Premier League appearances, It's been said that his 100 premier league appearances are really more like 250 premier league appearances, and I say this in awe of the man to make 600 premier league appearances in a career in which he has to date made only 522 league appearances takes some doing, does that. So, like I say, Told Tom Davies has a long way to go to match Bazz's 625 premier League appearances

For clarity 😄
