Left winger and a striker I think we can manage everywhere else.
JRS is a LW , as is Brooks.
Why are folk calling for us to sign a LW when we have two already ?
And Wilder always leaves one of them on the bench anyway , so no point.

We need cover for Moore , Souza & Souttar (our strong spine).
But the most we'll get is 2 out of 3.
Which ain't bad ... 🙄

Rak-Sakyi and Brooks are both left footed Right Wingers.
We’ve been playing Hamer Left Wing all season, which Brewster and Campbell making the odd appearance there too.

JRS & Brooks are both wingers whose strongest foot is their left.
If that's not a definition of a left-winger , I don't know what is.
So we don't need any more left-wingers.
If CW wants to play them "inverted" (which I hate to see) that's up to him.
But they are both left-wingers imo.

You don't have to tell me who's been playing LW for us - it's one of the reasons our attacking four hasn't really clicked , put in many crosses or created the number of chances which their skills & effort should.

Call me old-fashioned but forcing Hamer or O'Hare onto their weaker foot doesn't make sense to me.

I would at least swap our wingers over during the game and make the oppo defence have to deal with a continually changing form of attack.

Not sure permanent signings who could at the very least so a job in the premier league ( which has to be part of our remit in players) is that good a market in January especially in the championship. Even with a takeover I am not expecting many unless it's a out of contract in 6 months type signing

Because someone Is left footed doesn't mean they have to play/should play on the left hand side. Robben & Salah spring to mind that are left footed and almost always played/plays on the right wing, Hazard right footed and predominantlyplayed left wing for contrast.

The all idea of hamer out left is so he can drift/cut inside on his stronger right foot and shoot/link play. We are not playing with traditional out and out wingers and that's the same for JRS, it's also to keep defenders guessing as in are they going to cut in or try go on outside.

We haven't once seen Hamer forced onto his weaker foot hugging the touchline, running to the byline and putting a cross in with his weaker foot.

I understand and agree we need a LW in January to let Hamer/O'Hare play central but saying "you hate to see inverted wingers" when some of the best players in the world play like that and we had BBD and McAtee play like that recently is a bit strong.

think most clubs are trying to copy saka at arsenal with a left footed winger on the right but the thing is saka can also go outside and cross with the right foot dont think jrs or brooks are good enough to do this however thats where seriki comes in overlapping i would play him at right back every home game

Peter Taylor of Palace and Spurs was left footed but preferred to play on the right, and so did Chris Waddle. John Robertson of Forest was right footed but preferred to play on the left

yes they were all top players just dont think weve enough pace down the right with jrs and gilchrist but seriki coming back on to the scene is an exciting bonus for us

We could do with at least a couple of additions and ideally they would be up front and left midfield but it's not the end of the world if it doesn't happen. Up front is our weakest spot but since the start of the season Campbell has proved he can find the back of the net and One has become a real option so we are stronger there than we were in August....providing Moore isn't out long term.Weve got JRS and Brooks out wide and Burrows could play left midfield with RND at left back if needed.

All other positions we have reasonable cover in except keeper so we have to hope nothing happens to Cooper.

I guess we have to remember thst all clubs at this level are operating on a knife edge with injuries and that we are no different.

This could be wildly unrealistic, but any possibility we could get Mikey Moore in from Spurs on loan till the summer? Lad is a really hot prospect, and would provide major competition down the left wing. Only issue might be if Ange wants to keep him around their first team, as he's had a bit of game time this season in cups and Europe. But only 10 appearances in all comps, averaging 44mins per appearance, so we could maybe work something out if we were to give assurances about how much playtime he were to get.

Feel free to shoot this one down if I'm being daft - just a thought I had while at work

10 games between now and Jan 1, playing Sunderland twice, WBA twice and Burnley. If we could get 20pts from that lot, means 51pts, should be a good platform for a PL investment!

Which is why on faster attacks (when Burrows hasn't had chance to get forward) hardly any crosses come in which Moore can head home ...
And why our 6'5" CF hasn't scored a single headed goal all season.

In fact , not many crosses come in from open play on the R wing either , as JRS nearly always cuts in + tries to shoot.

I'm not saying that cutting inside is never useful , but it would be nice to sometimes see our winger beat his man on the outside + use his stronger foot to fire in a dangerous cross from the byline , which favours our attackers.
Watch the goal highlights from any league + note how many goals come from this.
Defenders hate such crosses.

So , lose once to Baggies & Mackems and to Burnley , but win the other 7 - see it , say it , sort it.

But we not set up to play that way, Moore is there to do like mcburnie was doing, holding play up and bringing others into play.

I agree having a big powerful striker in the box you should mix it up and try to hit an early cross which we don't, and usually its tbe early ones that gets the goals where defenders aint set up. We over play it at times, sometimes we have the opportunity to do this, but we opt to chop back and recycle and wait for defence to get back in positions and set.

But that's not down to players playing on the other side to their dominant foot, that's down to tactics and how we have been set up.

Overall I think our crossing and set plays are woeful, we have some serious height and strength and we must be one of lowest scoring from set pieces, our corners are so terrible and predictable, someone from our coaching staff needs to watch arsenal's. At least mix it up, instead of trying to put perfect ball to back post to soutter to head back across, it's not working get him on front post to flick on or use as a decoy for moore/anel.
