Giddins

Giddins clearly favours United out of the Sheffield clubs. It may be that he just likes Wilder from when he managed Halifax but although certainly not obvious listening carefully there has been little snippets over the years where he has without doubt shown a preference to us. The fact that he more often than not covers most of our games and almost always does the pre United game pressers with Wilder also reinforces this. On the flip side you’ve then got Staton who is a mirror image for the pigs but clearly has more skin in the game than Giddins because he is actually a full weight pig. Just doesn’t have the minerals to admit it. Can somebody produce that picture of him with a Wednesday shirt on again?

I don't know why it matters to be honest. I'd rather the football reporters and pundits all have grown up fans of a team, even if their bias sneaks in occasionally.

I listened to the Bristol city highlights and the level of difference in local commentators is huge. Radio Sheffield has always been pretty good for that.

Giddins does some stuff with BBC for premier league games too. Occasionally here him interviewing Pep etc!

There you

There you go!
And there it is…. The amount of times he’s denied it as well. Just admit it ffs it would be forgotten about within a few weeks. As long as he does his job in an unbiased and balanced way who would GAF? My grandad always said to me I would rather have a thief than a liar…

Let’s be honest it would not be forgotten would it, it would be a stick to beat him with at every opportunity by some people haha.

Has Staton ever denied it? He was a regular poster on Owlstalk before he got the job at RS.

I often wondered about Giddins but the “go on, skin him” about 30 seconds before our winner against Bristol City made me think that he is indeed a blade.

Still the funniest Twitter block I’ve had getting blocked by staton cos I made reference to the size of his massive chin! He’s like if mr tumless from narnia had a lovechild with Bruce Forsyth
He blocked me a few years ago for asking him why local "journalists" didn't ask Chansiri about the sponsorships from non-trading companies.
Nowadays he seems to have a little cry about Chansiri every time Wendy lose.

I realise Station is a Wednesday fan but that probably explains why he's much more critical of Sheff Wed and Chansiri.
He generally praises United quite often, always said that Wilder is the best manager he's known in this area and all the others have a long way to go.

His negativity and subtle jokes about Wednesday are such a common theme that many on Owlstalk think he's a Blade.

Can understand why Staton receives some criticism and can rub people up the wrong way but I prefer his style.
He edges towards a Simon Cowell/ Simon Jordan type personality and doesn't let callers call up spouting irrational shit.
He'll rightly challenges them quoting facts and some callers don't like it....because they have little to back up their arguement.

Really used to winds me up that after a United or Wednesday defeat....you get idiot callers asking for the manager to be sacked.
I'd be challenging them too, asking them to explain their opinion and who the replacement should be.

Also agree that Halifax fan, Andy Giddings always seems to be pro United....and it's been noticed on Owlstalk too.

It’s big hats not big trousers/big ego.

But, seriously? 😮

Giddings still gets to The Shay to watch Halifax when he can. He also knows Wilder from way back when he was Manager there & I think that is why he seems to get on with Chris pretty well. Btw - Wilder is still well thought of by most Halifax fans from his time there when things were really tough for them.

Yes he has. I recall somebody on a phone in accusing him and he acted all stupid saying he didn’t know what he was talking about. Pictures speak a thousand words 😉

He used to post on Porktalk but as a Rotherham fan
