It was a blatant Mick McManus forearm smash. Ref bottled it and gave a yellow
Yep ref bottling it, really. Given the soft yellows you get nowadays, it seems soft that this was only a yellow.

Clearly leading with the elbow/ forearm the ref gives a foul so it should only be a red unless he saw it as a hard challenge with no arms raised.

Also the handball by the keeper coming out of the area was missed.

Can’t complain though as the alternative is VAR so we take the rough with he smooth

Be sure the clubs in the top European leagues will be on top of this.

£30m-£50m player on this seasons evidence.

UTB
Doubt anyone will be spending that on him in January, in fact I'm not overly concerned about anyone making a move for him then.
January is expensive to buy players, and very few PL clubs take risks on Championship players. This season the ones that did it well, Palace, are struggling massively so I think they will all continue to look abroad for value. But I don't see any PL club who is struggling looking to buy their way out of it by purchasing Vinni Souza from the Championship for £15-20m.

£25 million minimum. But with General Souza in the middle of that park it’ll take a lot to out run, out fight and out think us. No disrespect to peck (fabulous young player) but we don’t lose Middlesbrough with The general on the team sheet

He’s having a great season - certainly in comparison to last season where he was abysmal and embarrassing in terms of attitude.

Long may his form continue alongside his appetite to succeed.

Let’s wait a little longer before we start throwing palm leaves for him to walk on

IMO

He's been brilliant.
Easily our POTY so far, possibly even POTY in the Championship.

I don't remember us (this century) having a midfielder like him. He's so dominant in the middle of the park and technically good too.

I'm confident that he could step up to PL level on this showing.
However, I was watching Wolves v Palace last night. Two teams expected to struggle and the difference in standard between them and our level is absolutely massive.

Souza was brilliant again yesterday. It's becoming a turnaround of Paul Coutts proportions.

I don't think there's much danger we sell him in January, but he will be gone in the summer if we don't get promoted (he'd have been gone this summer if the right offer had come in). That goes for anyone who's half decent, so it's imperative (again) that we do get promoted.

Agree

he’s probably done this wrong way round - could have done with a season in championship before moving upto EPL

If/when we go up, he will be better equipped

Anyone comes calling Jan tell them to fuck off, not just losing him, but the message it sends to the squad would be shite.

Linesman had a clear view of the keepers handball. From our seats (front few rows at side of net) looked like a defo handball

We need him next Sunday without a doubt

I would leave him at home on Tuesday to watch the fireworks instead :)

Absolutely not. All points are equal and we need to play for as many as possible.

Souza has been our most consistent performer this season along with Souttar and Cooper. Resting him for a tough away trip to Bristol would be crazy. They’re no mugs at home and we’d be asking for a repeat of the Boro match.

I’d back us to beat Wednesday without Souza more than I would away at Bristol I reckon.

We need him for both. He’s not shown any signs of a a niggling injury he’s a fit lad. If we’re 2 up on Tuesday then by all means give Peck 30/40 mins

Vini was absolutely outstanding yesterday. For me it was his best performance of the season so far. He is calmness personified on the ball and his recovery work is second to none. What a difference. I remember being at Brighton away last season where I was glad he was substituted as he was so far off the game it was untrue. Long may it continue and if vini reads this.... He's welcome to join us in the boozer any time. 😂 😂

It's weird how the few seconds extra Vini gets in the Champ have turned him 180 degrees from being bang average in Prem , to now irreplaceable, he has transformed into calmness personified. Without doubt player of the season so far and such a joy to watch.

Best tackler
Always available
Never loses ball
Calm

There is nothing out there in Champ that I'd swap for. Hopefully us fans are the only ones watching him.

Hope a rumour I have been told that he’s doing a concussion protocol and is out of the next two is bollocks.. 😲
