I might get some pelters here but here goes. I hope the club retire his shirt number in honour of a good pro and a brilliant lad by all accounts

No problem mate was just something I thought off..I don't agree with retiring the shirt.
It's a better tribute to him to let it remain so future Blades can wear the same number 2 that Baldock wore.
A sea of Greece flags in his honor in the away end next Friday would be good start before something biggerI hear the sentiment, but would rather not do that due to the reasons already given above.
It's hard to work out what a decent tribute could be to GB but hopefully someone will come up with one.
Greecey Chip ButtieTribute from the fans could be instead of singing GCB song at kick-off against stoke. Sing the star man song instead
Imagine trying to pinch Alfies shirtWe can’t actually retire it till the end of the season cause of Alfie Gilchrist
I agree with you, although when you also put it like that it currently feels like no one would ever live up to the dedication and standards that George has set.I appreciate the sentiment but retiring shirts isn't something that feels right to me and isn't really a thing in football the way it has been in other sports. To me you pass the shirt on and have the next crop of players honour those who came before. Everyone who pulls on the number 2 (or any other number) should know the standards in attitude and dedication set for them by those who came before. Baldock is a part of that heritage.
An alternate tribute might be for the club to hang a giant red and white striped flag from a stand with BALDOCK 2 printed on it, as a permanent fixture inside the ground.
A bit like what they do when they retire jerseys in the NHL.
It wouldn't be retiring the shirt, but a fitting permanent tribute.

My view is that the numbers from 1-11 should never be retired, but these numbers should only be given out when a player has earned it For example the number ten shirt, Billy Sharp wore the number 10 shirt, not because he was a number 10, he was obviously a 9, but because of the heritage, this was the number of Brian Deane and Tony Currie, he chose the number 10, I don't want to see, for example, a loan player given the No.2 because this was the first free number, I would prefer that all new players have a number higher than 11, and when they have earned the right, they are given a number between 1 to 11
This makes a lot of sense. I like that Arblaster has got 4 this season and taken the number over from Fleck. It feels symbolic somehow. I think if he had worn it sooner it might have felt a bit premature. Similarly how Ndiaye was going to have 10. I think certainly numbers need to be earned.
