I’m not against Rushworth, Infact he’s a very impressive keeper.

But with Rak Sakyi and Cannon that would be our 5 loans done

Rushworth has 2yrs left on his deal, a year here then puts him into his final year...... if he wants to play and be first choice, thats put is in a good position to offer him a long term deal, depending on price.
That being said, Cooper is almost surely available now and wants to come..... is the quoted £3m correct, can we give them Grbic in part ex, so it only costs us £4m!??
One slight flaw in your plan is if he has a good season with us the price goes up and clubs with more money come after him.

You including Gilchrist and Souttar?

I'm all for a loan goalkeeper and by all accounts, Rushworth is meant to be pretty decent.
I'm just disappointed that our GK, CB & RB are all going to be loaned players. This doesn't feel like building back stronger, it feels more like we're treading water.

Our lack of depth is pretty astonishing. On paper, we will have a competitive first XI. Beyond that, it starts to look quite desperate.
At least with Cooper, for a modest outlay (£3m) we would have an asset on our books that can grow with us, fill a position we desperately need for seasons to come and / or be sold at a profit.

Sick of loans tbh have definitely played a part in me feeling less connected to the club over the last few years.

CaptainMorgans What I would say Captain is that for the c. 12 players we need this summer, we were always going to have 5 loans. I agree its important how we allocate those loans V permanents in terms of positions, and like you, I'd have preferred a permanent GK.

However, as long as we do bring in at least 2, preferably 3/4 permanents this window or January, it won't be too bad. Don't forget we had a mega rebuild to do this summer, knocking some of it back a year isn't completely unreasonable.

I agree 100%.

We will be paying big loan fees and big loan wages. That will eat a chunk of the parachute payments up to no LT gain.

You’re almost relying on bouncing back up and even then you’d need an entire new squad.

Or if you stay down again you have even less players and more holes to fill with less money.

We should be signing young players to set us up LT and supplementing them with a couple of loan players we have no shot at getting any other way. It all feels a bit feeble and without a LT vision.

Burrows should be the model we were aiming for IMO. And cooper would have fit that bill. Then the reliance on loans would have been easier to live with

I’d much rather sign a player permanently for 3/4m - using the osula money.

Rather than having to pay 750k/1m loan fee + wages to loan a player every year for the next 4 because we refuse to make any signings. It will would work out cheaper and you can actually create an asset. Rather than developing an asset for someone else’s benefit.

It’s another Penny wise - Pound stupid move. Like signing a broken Tom Davies who hadn’t seen a football for months instead of getting Doyle in. We may as well have set 2 years of Davies’s wages on fire .

That said if it means we don’t have the worst keeper in the league in either Davies or Grbic - I’m still all for it
What would we have signed Doyle with? Buttons? Wolves and City worked out a deal with a player swap. We had zero chance of ever signing Doyle.

Yeah

So that would be 5
I know these are big IF's
But if Souza is good at this level, Davies gets fit and Oné or Marsh make the step up, I think if might just be enough. Cannon can also play on the wing apparently.

One is miles away

Marsh maybe but I’d suspect he needs a League One loan too

It's part of the modern game sadly, you rarely get promoted these days without getting your loan signings spot on...

Don't single out just our club on something when every other championship club is trying hard to bring in top loans.

I think we need someone else.
But if we play 1 up top most of the season, Moore, Cannon, rak-sakyi, Brewster and Marsh/One should be enough cover.

I wanted to save a loan spot for a striker, 100%, and how we haven't got £3m for a keeper I've no idea, but we need a goalie more than anything else.

Agreed, for a rebuild of our size and nature it would be impossible to accomplish it all in 1 window therefore using all loan slots was going to be inevitable.

As I said in a different thread it will likely take 3 windows minimum.

All the reporting last year was he was keen to come back. The rumoured fee being talked about wasn’t exorbitant and it was mentioned we had had discussions with cuty5 - obviously I don’t know any of this for certain

My point was it was a a short sighted decision. We spend 8-10m on Doyle he was still going to have a value to us. How much is he worth now after a decent season with wolves 20m+??

We signed Davies and we may as well have just burned 3/4m in wages and we couldn’t give him away now if we tried.

It would have been significantly higher than £8-£10m

If we could swap Cooper for Grbic that would go down as the greatest pants down in football history. Surely someone as smart as Wayne Rooney wouldn't fall for that??? Well.......

They haven't got a scooby what's going on. In 45 minutes they have changed their story from us moving for Rushworth as the Cooper deal fades and that we have "angered" Plymouth to us again moving for Cooper and we have held talks with Plymouth.

Bunch of cocks.

Different news outlets but yup.... so many different sources saying so much different shit.

They're like that Bladesmen X account though aren't they, they just repost news they find on Twitter from Danny Hall, Nixon etc.
