You understand the increase in these publicised risks is what has led to the current concussion guidelines, right?

Is it always possible to know when it's a concussion? For what it's worth I've had quite heavy bangs on the head, similar to what players would be subbed for, continued on and felt fine, with no after effects

If you go beyond the 21 day bit in the guidelines, there's a couple more pages about the enhanced care pathway, which professional clubs use, 12 days is the standard return to play under that, with 7 possible if exceptional criteria met (which would be not displaying any signs of concussion at any point)

If you’d had a concussion you & the people around you would certainly have known. It’s absolutely not something to be fucked around with. Players are certainly not subbed off for every bang on the head. They are, rightly, subbed off if they show signs of concussion and following that the protocols are in place for a very good reason. I’ve never heard anyone in the professional game complain about it, and it isn’t there just to piss you off.

If they were subject to 21 day bans you might have heard complaints. But if the post above is right it seems 7 days will actually remain the usual maximum....
 
I remember the ashes a few years ago Jofra Archer hit Steve Smith on the head and sent him to the floor. Eventually he got up and was taken off. Passes all the tests and came back out to bat later on to applause but is quickly out. Wakes up the next day feeling like he had downed 12 pints and was obviously concussed and missed the next test.

There's another Aussie cricketer who has had dozens of concussions and gets them really easily because the initial ones weren't treated correctly.

You just need to look at the rates of dementia in football v the general older generation to know there is something in it. The fact so many of the 66 squad lost memory of it is enough to decide to play it safe!

The ball hit him from point blank, to the point I (and many others) heard the ball hit him from the opposite end of the ground.. if he’s not got concussion, he’s superman.
 

Grbic got taken off against Palace last season for concussion protocol and missed two games I think (1 was Luton, not sure on other one).

When England played Iran in 2022 World Cup the Iran goalkeeper got concussed and went off the pitch ten minutes after the initial contact.

Seem to recall the Iran keeper looked really unsteady on his feet because of it and Shearer saying something about how they should have taken him off straight away rather than letting him carry on.
 
Have a look at people like Ernie Moss, it’s players like him that the concussion protocols were introduced based on.

Probably a necessary sale at that price.
Not dissimilar to when we had to sell Ramsdale, Brooks and Che Adams to fund a promotion campaign.

He's got some great raw attributes and it'd be a shame to not see him develop here, but I wouldn't have him as a starter this season anyway.
 
It would be sad to see another prospect leave, but it might be necessary with our financial situation. If they are serious, bleed them for every penny because they can certainly afford it.

He's looked sharp in pre season but I am still not convinced he will score regularly for us at this level, not yet anyway, and we need players who are ready to step up and power a promotion campaign.
 
Not even remotely surprised about this. A particularly high ceiling this kid.

We should have been in a position to let him have a loan last year to really test his development and push on.

If he stays injury free, there is a regular PL player in there. Maybe a £50m one.

I’d prefer him to stop but money talks.

Seems an odd pond for Champions League aspirants to fish in. An unproven Danish kid who’ll be nowhere near their first team. It’s more of a Bournemouth or a Palace signing.

Kinell. Not undermining your opinion but I think that's the biggest call I've ever, ever seen on here. And when you think of some of the stuff posted on here that's pretty bloody big.

Anyway, I like Osula...nowt not to like, he seems to have the right attitude which hasn't always been the case with other young prospects. He's quick, strong and he can finish and only young so the rest can come.

Just now though, his decision making isn't there (as you'd expect at his age) but I'm not too convinced about his touch and he does look clumsy. GLTTL and obviously stick a sell on clause in there but for £10m you've got to snap their bloody hand off.
