Would you expect McBurnie to play for 95 minutes every Saturday and Tuesday?
No but I'd expect him and Moore to share the workload very successfully

Osula could feasibly stay in addition to those 2 but it would risk a lack of game time

Tricky decision with him if McBurnie signs

I’m not sure McBurnie will even be signing a new contract for us. Where actually is he? Where is he training? Has he done any preseason anywhere? Or is he injured?

Do you think we use him this season or he goes on loan? I’d love to see him in and around our first team but I’m worried he won’t get enough minutes.

That is my main worry, especially seeing how we're seemingly signing a squad clogger to satisfy the hoofball fetishists

Nicko said he was training with us when the Stoke rumour surfaced

Towards the end of the season he got a hat-trick in about 20 minutes for the U21s. The opposition manager said he was unplayable.
He then scored 2 in 20 minutes for Denmark U21s in the summer.
Today he scored once in 45 minutes and you think this proves he’s not improved?
Scoring at U21's level is irrelevant. It doesn't translate to 'men's football'. I've seen enough of Osula that I don't think this year will be his breakout season or that he will score consistently in the Championship this season.

If you mean Moore, I don’t think that’s a fair description of him.

If we sign another couple of senior forwards, however, I would worry that Osula falls too far down the pecking order to get the game time he needs.

I’ve not been his biggest fan for some time and I don’t like to judge too much on pre season.

But seeing him at left wing is something I’d love to see more a lot more. He has pace and power and that big switch / diagonal to his side would be very very effective.

So why do clubs bother with U21 teams?
Because that's the system the powers that be have in place. How junior football is organised is a red herring in a discussion regarding form in junior football translating into form in adult football. When the time comes and players are given the opportunity they either step up or they don't. I'm not saying Osula can't/won't. I'm saying I haven't seen anything that suggests that it is going to happen for him this season at SUFC in the Championship.

Do you think that clubs and countries should stop playing U21 games?

I think it's a week now, isn't it?
It’s now a staged approach to returning. 14 days after showing no signs of concussion you can do contact training and it’s 21 days until you can play a competitive match.

Daft innit, I want my players to get brain damage as long as they are on the bench for a friendly.
How often is a 'concussion' a concussion? How often is it a precautionary substitution with the team doctor not wanting to be responsible for anything bad? How often do the players clearly not want to go off? From their point of view it is madly frustrating because these 'concussions' are rarely bad enough to justify a prolonged absence. With Osula, presumably we're without him at Preston now, with Moore our only real CF. And I bet he's completely fine. 21 days is an excessive shitty alternative to trusting players/team doctors not to take serious risks. A few days I could accept, but not 3 weeks. And who's to say they'll even stop at 3 weeks....

You’re right mate. Get them back on, these doctors are just woke snowflakes these days. Players didn’t get concussed in my day, they just got on with it and died early with dementia.

No, actually you're right. Every player who gets a bump on the head will suffer premature death unless completely inactive for 21 days. Maybe 21 weeks, actually

Mate you and me know more about clinical neuropsychology than these leftist doctors with their fancy qualifications. Worlds gone mad.
Disagree there. I stand with the doctors/FA guidelines. It makes me look cleverer. Don't have to offer any of my own opinion that way either

Your opinion is worth more than the doctors mate.
Nope. But when the responsibility falls on them, they'll go on the safe side every time. My opinion, if I'm allowed one, is that the overwhelming majority of the time, the player will be fine to return much sooner than 21 bloody days, and if not, it wouldn't need a mandatory 21 day absence to prevent him from playing again too soon, especially now risks associated with concussion are more publicised

But what's the point in taking the risk when it comes to someones brain? Think I'd err on the side of caution with concussion, it's nasty business.
