We bought Anel 3 years ago for a couple of money to be spread out over years. Lots in loan fees (because you need players to play football) the premier league provide money that a club can spend in order to compete at that level not a prize or money to pay off debts then complain that you’ve no money.

Quite possibly one of the worst captains I've ever seen ,not just for United, not just for a football team... for anything. Captain blade is a better captain, captain caveman had more about him. Very good first season (when he didn't have to defend) awful last season and heart the size of a pea to boot. I'd be ecstatic for any fee over 1 million for him.

Having suffered from it myself as a young man, there might be something in the glandular fever episode. I took over a year to get back to something approaching normal. That affected my mental health quite badly. Ok, I wasn’t a highly tuned professional footballer by any means, but I was a fit & active 21 year old playing a lot of sport.

It affects different people differently and recovery times are not always the same. I’m not making excuses for him, but it is possible that it’s been a factor. He’s not been the same player since he had it.

Let’s face it, he only signed for us as a stepping stone to greater things but turns out he’s not as good as he seems to think he is.

He looked the part in the Championship and I did think he’d make the step up. However once Ndiaye and Berge abandoned us and the rot had set in, he clearly downed tools and his performances and attitude were embarrassing. He was a massive reason we conceded 100+ goals.

He should’ve been fined a month’s wages after that red card against Forest. It couldn’t have been more intentional so he could sit out the next game.

I can’t remember growing to dislike a United player as much for a long time. If we get any half decent fee for him I’d drive him off myself.

With nearly 6 weeks left in the transfer window anything can happen, offers can come in from anywhere.
If an offer had been made and there was 48hrs left of the transfer window and he had said this then it would mean more.

Long term contracts gives assurance of employment and a guarantee of a certain level of income for a set period.
Players get injured or lose form.
Rhian Brewster is a prime example of the benefits of that situation.
Running the contract down can reap large rewards, but carry's its risks that players have to bear in mind.

He was always a strange choice as captain, he doesn't really strike you as a leader in the traditional sense (although neither does Harry kane...)

Glandular fever is shit and this could have had a huge effect... I would hope that if he wasn't fit, the club just wouldn't have played him but there was clearly something up with him last season.

The perfect scenario really (and I include souza in this) they both realise they need to prove they are better than us, have a blinding first half of the season and we sell them in January for decent money.

No problem with players leaving if:
A) they are rubbish
B) they bring in good money and do it on the back of helping the club. That's why I didn't mind Ndaiye and Berge going.

Exactly. He was team of the season material in his first season. In a team expected to have more of the ball and attack more, with him in particular having licence to do so. When the style was reversed to us having about 25% possession and not having any clue of how we might leave our own half under Hecky, then in a flat back four under wilder he wasn’t the best.

If he stays and we don’t need the fee that we would get for leaving, then I welcome him to try and get back on track. So long as we don’t mess up his contract situation and he ends up leaving for less than what we paid after doing well.

Anel has been totally shit outside of his first dozen or so games. It was just a purple patch. Add on the fact that he's a sulky twat who gave up on several occasions last season, and I'm absolutely praying we can get rid of this total charlatan.

Getting rid of him and Souza would be getting rid of the toxic influences in the dressing room. Much needed after last season.
