Turning out to be exactly the same as last years close season, which sadly will deliver the same and inevitable depressing end, unless the present owner does one.
This current Chairman is taking us all for fools, and yet some on hear, mystifyingly still support him.
The definition of madness is to keep making the same mistakes over and over again.
Last year we lost Illy, Sander, and even Billy for the sake of one measly year’s contract, and spent millions on Traore, Slimane and others.Result a shit show of mammoth proportions
This year, Baldock, Egan, etc gone, without recouping a penny, and so far Shackleton, a bit part player, on a free from Leeds.Result, you know the rest…..

I'll bite....

Or maybe put like 5% of common sense thought into it.

Illy had said he was going to sign a contract, then did a U-turn at the very last minute and decided to sign for his boyhood club (as backed up by the fact he had filmed videos for the social media channel about him resigning)

Berge, a lot of the fanbase were very vocal about how he disappeared in matches anyway. He only became the godsend again when we started playing shite (also he still got relegated and was a bit part player at Burnley)

Billy was a bit part player in the promotion season, yes I would liked him to stay on for probably nostalgic/coaching purposes. But to say he would have an impact/difference in our relegation is laughable, he made 0% impact when he went to Hull and has now dropped down to league 2 (which I would assume he will destroy)

Anyone with a tad common sense, is seeing that the prince is actively trying to sell or get rid of a controlling stake. Unfortunately, we're just not an attractive buy as some fans seem to think we are.

To get us to a Crystal Palace mid-table Prem team is gonna cost us hundreds of millions of investment. The city itself is unattractive for foreign investors, it's not London/Manchester. The stadium is unfortunately very limited in terms of expansion, we're in a two club city where fanbase it's pretty much spilt 50/50. There's a lot more better lower league teams (eg Wrexham) where it makes a lot more sense to buy and grow.

I don’t disagree with your assessment of his time at the Blades and he was only good for a small proportion of his time at the club (notably in the promotion run in) but he played 37 games last season so wasn’t a ‘bit part’ player.

Fuck me

Some players who aren’t good enough despite been likeable lads leave - we all called for a clearout

We are in the process of selling so we ain’t signed anyone even though we’re only days into a 2+ month window

Yes this is another thread..

But the fact is we are completely rudderless right now while everybody else goes about thier business preparing for a new season..

We might know the whys and wherefores of why we are in this position, but its definitely fucking the pre season up now, and Wilders silence is deafening.

I can understand the frustration..

It is only the beginning of July, but it’ll be the middle of July before we know it. I recall we had similar debates last year about it only being early etc. and then it was quickly the opening game of the season and we were putting out a sub standard side with some players who had not had a pre-season with us.

Of course the takeover is the “issue” this year. But the other problem is the -2 points we have to contend with. If we don’t get off to a good start, it’ll get really toxic very quickly. We only need to go a few games without a win, bad luck or not, and the rot will set in, as it did last season.

Whilst we were always going to get relegated, I really think if we’d picked up a few more points in that first month, we’d have had a much better season. The confidence was well and truly shot after that Spurs game (the last string of results where we were unlucky to walk away with nothing) and we all know what happened then.

I’m not saying the same will happen again, but my point is that these things can quickly spiral and we need to be on the front foot as much as possible. The club has been very slow to act on anything, takeover or not, these last few years, which is why I’m currently concerned.

As Houston_Blade intimates above that’s just not true. He won Fans Player of the Year and Players Player of the Year.

Reminds me of Tonge. Only passed sideways. Or Quinn, hooks it over his head. Of Beattie, only scored penalties.

It’s hilarious the coping mechanisms some of our fans have when we obviously look worse when these players go.

Two weird things at the moment.

A) Fans telling people off for being negative;
B) Fans desperate for outgoing players to do shit in order to cope with our woes.

He was the outstanding player on the pitch when we played Burnley at home, he completely bossed it. There is undoubtedly a player in there, but is he consistent, injury free? I would answer no and that's why he is not at a top Premier league side.

You do know we haven't ACTUALLY signed Shackleton yet don't you. Someone's head must roll.

There was a lot of piss-taking at the expense of doom and gloom merchants last year, and the team went on to be battered from pillar to post nearly every bloody week, so, you know, maybe sometimes they're on to something.
Shhh, quiet
Anything else means they have to question there deluded opinions and what they are actually witnessing with their own eyes

Truth is, in around 57 years since knowing what football is we've had a team capable of playing a bit of decent football in 1971 which I can barely remember.

A tiny glimpse of a Howard Kendall team capable of playing a bit of decent football, and a short period of Chris Wilders team capable of playing a bit of football before he lost his marbles.

No trophies, no Europe, and barely any top flight status save for a token season or two during that entire time

The spectacular level of failure is due to shit planning at every level in the boardroom no matter who has been in the boardroom

And the reason this happens is a company has to give it's customers what they want, and football clubs are no different.

This football club gives the majority of it's customers exactly what they want, expect, and dream of......FUCK ALL

I've always hated the way she emphasises the word 'chairs', like she was surprised when she went into the chair showroom and it was full of chairs and not donkeys or summat. Did they not have fucking editors and assistant directors in the 1970's to spot shit like that?
Have you not tried a Shackletons High Seat Donkey?

It’s lovely, but so much donkey shit…..
