Like all good corporations money created by one subsidiary is moved around to support potentially more profitable ventures....

Years of selling our best players is why we have ended up with a midtable league 1 side. Brandy apart there was absolutely nothing to be optimistic about. First half was shockingly bad. Lots of pointless negative passing and rarely got enough players forward.

I said on the way home from the Play Off final 2009 it would be one slow painful slide ala the mid 70s, i take no pleasure in being proven right :(

Not wanting to be too reactionary after a poor result, but the qquestion remains, where has all the money gone? It must have been seriously mismanaged and one man is responsible for that.

Not sure the slide has quite ended yet. Feel a bit sorry for Weir to be honest. He HAS to be given the McD money to reinvest.

I didn't go today. I was on a boat trip.

The Statistics according to the BBC appear to show that we played them off the park:
Possession 54% Blades 46% Colchester
Shots on goal 12 - 3 t0 Blades
Shots on target 5 - 1
Corners 5 - 4
Fouls: Blades 14 - Colchester 20

All that's missing seems to be the goals.

Lying bulls hitting selfish fucking wanker

Yeah fucking wanker. I can't abide cruelty to animals. Having said that, maybe we should try him up front, seeing as the rest of em can't seem to hit a cows arse with a banjo....

I don't think so. I was there. The 1st half was absolutely shocking. A goalkeeping howler let us back in. We improved 2nd half and had a few attempts but rarely looked like scoring. Col U settled for a draw. We were far too negative. Continually passing it sideways and backwards and rarely getting forward in numbers. The only bright spark was Brandy. Col U will finish bottom half and, unless we strengthen, we will struggle to finish above midtable.

Today wasn't great, but I thought we played much better than just about all the games from last season. I found it funny how when the boo's starting as we didn't get it forward soon enough for some people, that same move ended up with us scoring the goal today.

All we really need to add is penetration in the oppositions box, which we haven't had since a certain person got sent to jail. We could also do with stopping gifting goals to the opposition too...

Yeah he had penetration in the box alright, that was both his strength and his weakness...

Best part was the kestrel flying in front of the kop.

I have a workmate who supports Burton - he was at that match and he said the Blades battered them so something wrong for sure

Never noticed the bird (well, I did, but it was the bird with the very nice arse sat about 6 or 7 seats to my left on the row in front). Did notice the black carrier bag blowing about all over the place though.

Was it a kestrel? Few round me thought it was too big fir a kestrel.

Regardless, a bird of prey landing on the pitch during the game can't happen very often.

Could have been something else, it was quite big. Afterwards it perched top of the family stand for ages. Attracted by the mice on the pitch wearing red and white striped shirts. The black bag was distracting as well

Kestrel or whatever bird of prey it was certainly the highlight of my match day experience!
They were around in triplicate at the U21 game on Tuesday too.

Agree with that. I can only recall one situation when we went backwards from a good position for no good reason. I think it was Murphy who had a chance to attack their fullback from inside 18 yards but inexplicably rolled it to McMahon who was far too deep to contribute (as usual).

Our problem isn't choosing possession football - it's having the cutting edge when we need it.

|I lost count of the number of times we went backwards or sideways unnecessarily. And I've never heard the word "boring" as many times as I did when leaving the ground.

Really? How many times did our players turn down a genuine attacking pass in favour of negative one? To my eyes the problem was a lack of options - they're certainly not under instruction to be boring and negative. We just don't have the established pattern or the quality of players to cut teams to pieces.

Yup, it was boring. But let's not be thinking this is the tactic.

Febian Brandy is as nippy as a mouse!
