Carl Baker, Coventry

Apparently Weir & Carsley were at Coventry, well Northampton yesterday to watch Carl Baker. Got ~15 goals from midfield last term. He's been told to find another club to get him off the books.

As it happens Baker didn't play but others are meant to be available due to the circumstances and obviously Carsley knows the squad well.

Leon Clarke would be nice if he was as it's been reported available for next to nothing,

Another player i reckon we ought to look at is Leeds' Ryan Hall. Right now he's wasted at Leeds he's nowhere near a first team spot or even the subs bench and they have publicly said they need to sell before they buy. I'd be tempted to sign him and put him on the left wing resulting in us having himself and Brandy, two tricky, skillful wingers out wide with Murphy roaming freely from the middle as he did (and rather well) at Motherwell.

Leon Clarke is a funny one. I saw him a few times for Wendy and thought he was appalling. He then scored a good goal in their relegation game v Palace only to break his foot celebrating - which I must say made me laugh out loud for ages.

However, at this juncture, I think he would be a good player for us.

Weren't Swindon paying him over £10k a week a short time ago? I hope his expectations have dropped from then.

Just read about him on the Coventry main site, he's described as a 'pacey wide man with exciting dribbling skills', tbh i cant recall seeing him play. Going off that though he sounds promising despite his age. probably as good as we can get atm though.

A mate of mine from Liverpool's sister is Baxters girlfriend, he would be affordable as hes on no more than 5 grand a week, but he's no interest in moving from Oldham. I doubt Weird would go in for him anyway.

When did being 30 in Football become past it / old? Players play into their late 30's and according to most in the game don't hit their peak until they're 28/29.

I added the 'but' into my sentence because if he joins then maybe he could only have a good couple of years left or maybe even less, he turns 31 in December.
