He would also be well in tune to the fans way of thinking. He wouldnt put up with players not giving there all ,he is a strong character doesnt suffer fools and plays entertaining football. Given the tools I think it could work.

Told you so, he has sold his Oxfordshire house, and his girls are set to start local sheffield schools in September. He will, apparently be unveiled on Friday, at a press conference.

I for one hope that you are right.

He would have been my choice when we appointed Micky Adams and when we appointed Danny Wilson.

In my view he has done very well at both Halifax and Oxford with bugger all back up and resources

I saw Wilder hanging out of the back of this behind the burger van on Bramall Lane on Friday night.

Why did he sign a new contract at Oxford less than 2 weeks ago ?

I don't understand why he'd do that. McCabe must have spoken to him for this to be a go-er, so why sign a contract ?

If this turns out to be true after all, there's gonna be some eggy faces around these here parts...

Yes, McCabe's if he appoints such an obvious non-achiever. There's a reason he's spent his 12 years in management at Halifax and Oxford.

Another Micky Adams disaster is looming. Can't say am excited about the prospects of CW. Why doesn't McCabe take his time, interview candidates and get the best man for the post. He has sacked his own selections - Wilson, Adams, Blackwell; he is not a good judge of managers. This will go the same way....

Did well with Bradway Hotel in the Meadowhall League;) Mind you, Brian the Blade did well at that level too!

There is a school of thought that managing in the lower leagues can be just as much, if not more, difficult than managing in the higher leagues. Success is all relevant. I have no idea whether Oxford are well placed or not or what sort of football he's got them playing but I'd rather take a chance on a manager moving up than one moving sideways or down because they are usually only doing so because they were sacked.

Agreed - would rather have Morgan as manager than CW; gonna be another deja vu feeling if BillLeave is right...

Anything has got to be better than Morgan. The thought of Morgan getting the job, sticking with the current team and telling us what great pros they are and that they could not put any more effort in, doesn't bear thinking about. We definitely need someone new who won't accept the current shite.

Too true, but cannot see CW doing any of that...

Just praying for someone who WILL! (better pinch myself and wake up now) ;)

What Morgan means by great pros is they run around like headless chickens and can't play football.

so can headless chickens play football then ? because you really didnt need to add that bit otherwise

Someone who knows Wilder (definitely knows him, not just saying he does) has just tweeted that it's a done deal.

chris wilder was a good enough player for us, but as a manager hes an utter twonk.

if its between him and morgan, we may as well just give up now and resign from the league.

i saw chris wilder once in the crown on london road he was all over the place so i asked him if he was drunk
"fuck " it he replied
hell do for me , not quite smashing danni behrs back doors in but i felt a kinship ,a bond ,a moment of clarity if you will
it is our destiny

The fact is, there is not a single realistic candidate for the job that everyone would be happy with. I'd be happy to give CW a chance - but he would need to get rid of some of the current team and bring in some pace, power & quality.

There is a trend here

DW = Danny Wilson
CW = Chris Wilder - can you see where this is going?

So I presume the replacement for CW when he inevitably fails will be .....

BW = Billy Whitehurst !

Take no prisoners!

Might as well - there's fuck all football to witness

They need to have a Blades connection you duffers!

Andy Walker was the last one in the sequence I could think of
