If you were the manager, who would you pick for the semi and final?

Would you have different players for the final than the semi?

Or would you stay with the same?

What formation would you go for?

Who would be on the bench?

Who would be the captain?

GK Long- Him or Howard, but I would go for him

RB McMahon - Like the way he doesn't go past the halfway line
CB Maguire
CB Collins (C)
LB Hill

RM Flynn - wouldn't go with Chapell
CM MacDonald
CM Doyle - I know you would go with someone else, but who?
LM McFadzean

CAM Robson - PLAYMAKER
ST Murphy - PACE

SUBS
Westlake
Barry
Chapell
Whitehouse
forte
Kitson
Porter

hard question to answer really. i think the defence and keeper pick itself, i also think yeovil arent great in the air and at setplays, so i would go for kitson uptop with murphy and save mcfadzean for the bench. i'd probably go with ur formation for the away leg tho but a big lad up top either kitson or porter depending on the first leg and then robson in a free role

No target man, which given our complete inability to play passing football is a bit of an oversight...

I hate passing football and it does say if you were the manager.

I'm no Chris Morgan or Wilson or Pep or Rodgers.

Surely all football requires passing? Even hoof is passing, it's just very optimistic passing.

I'd stick the same side out as today with the exception of swapping Kitson for Porter. Now, Porter doesn't fill me brim-full of confidence but Kitson has been poor of late.

No I meant tic tac football, I like pace. Thats why I liked the team with Naughton/Walker, ward, webber and quinn.

And that's also why I want Blackwell back because he knew talent such as Ward and Walker

He's still more likely to score or create a goal than Ironside! Kids for kids' sake?

Back to basics. Pick the team that played very well against and beat Swindon.

Seriously, comedy Gold fella.

I want Syphilis.

UTB

Which, incidentally, was a clear winner of my recent S24SU STD of the Year poll. Congratulations Syph and an honourable mention for runner-up Wally Downes.

No I like blackwell.
I liked the team.
I liked his way of football.
And I remember the games I saw when he was managing us, the fans were always upbeat.
And they always won by big scores such as 5-2 vs Charlton

You didn't see enough games. First 1/2 season in charge with nothing to lose was fantastic. Given time to influence things, the football was dire, and just as boring as this season under Wilson. Different philosophy, same very boring outcome.

did better than any other manager recently:p

I'd play Kitson up front for sure - that guy is dynamite and you won't fail with him leading the line.....

Oh, sorry, you did didn't you.....

Good luck in the play-offs!

Whatever type of football that you play it has to be effective, but to be effective you have to make the best use of the players at your disposal AND has to realistically suit you against the team you are playing.

Yeovil beat us at the lane earlier this season, apparently through decent passing football. So whilst we need to set ourselves up to win, we also need to be aware of their threat.

So lets go 3-4-3

Long

McMahon - Harry - Colin's

Flynn-Doyle-KMac-McFadzean

Murphy-Kitson-Forte

How come flynn wasn't included in the squad yesterday. Injured? Rested? does anyone know. and I would like to see this...
Long

Mchmahon Maguire Collins Hill

Westlake/flynn doyle Mcdonald Mcfadzean

Porter Murphy

We looked better when Robson came on in central midfield. He should start in place of Mrs. Doyle. Kitson and Porter up front. It's no time for starry-eyed delusions about "kids".

You are starry-eyed about Robson and Kitson. Robson took over the the set pieces when he came on yesterday and they were shite and when he had the ball in open play he wasted it. Kitson just needs to try and play football and we know what he can be. Unfortunately he's become too lazy to do that. I do think however with this being a Friday night TV game we might see the best of him. After all when this season finishes I don't see many teams giving him a contract. They were not even queuing last summer when we signed him with seconds to go.

My team

Long
McMahon Maguire Collins Hill
Flynn McDonald Doyle McFadzean
Murphy Kitson

The only thing our team needs is intensity and passion.

Is it really? Perhaps Morgan should unfold his arms; that should do the trick.

Have you given any thought to qualities such as ability?

Upanatem! You know it makes sense.

We saw their ability against Swindon, when they did fancy it. Not sure what Morgan's folded arms or hands in pocket have to do with my point. Have you retired this year Pinchy? You don't seem to be able to have a conversation anymore and a tendency to put yourself on a pedestal above the rest of us.

Is it too much for our guys to put a real shift in for 90 minutes? Are we just unfit as a team?

Yes. Next!

:)

This seems to be more the case, I came out of the game wondering what was missing and you're right, I think we aren't fit enough to put a 90 minute shift in. Maybe it's as simple as that. We always seem to play within ourselves.

It's true. Our central midfield has no energy. Our central defence are too slow to push up. Our strikers almost all want to play with their back to goal. It's dire.

Whoever is in charge next year needs to take the risk of replacing most of our supposed key men. And do so without paying fees.

So we need an expert in the lower divisions, someone whose expertise isn't borne out of his own failure. I have no suggestions. Over to Kev....
