Question for those who still have faith in the management team somehow. Looks like he’s keeping it for the weekend at least as our rudderless shit… sorry ship… continues to sail into obscurity.

Some genuine questions:
What do you believe our style of play to be?
How are we going to create chances moving forward?
What’s the plan for us to start competing at this level?
Do you think Hecky is completely blameless in all this?

Cos despite what anyone thinks of the Prince, and I think he’s a bit of a tosser these days, he’s built a side that can do better than 1 point from 30, and barely competing in games.

We have a clear style of play.

Low block, on the chance we win it back, punt it to the strikers......

Stuck after that.
Hope for the best. And vibes.

In the rare scenario we get possession. hoof it at their corner flags.

How are we going to create chances moving forward?
My mate in Haiti says if I send him some herbs he can bring Harry Johnson back to life

What’s the plan for us to start competing at this level? Get relegated rebuild and come back

Does he have enough resources? No. Has he made use of what he's got/had? No

Pass and move (upfield preferably) Retain the passes. It isn't as hard as United make it look. They need some better plyometric training. Even I could do better... no really I could. 😅 Where do I sign? It is just football basics is it not? So should be a cake walk for "professionals".

But realistically... it's gonna be hoofball and into corners and long throws.

Agree that's the style this season. The other way we create chances are
we encourage Norwood to try glory long passes, the problem is we don't have enough runners so without loads of options
every time he tries his trademark long pass, it fails and gives possession straight back to the opposition, so our defence is under pressure again
but our main weapon of creating chances is probably the Jack Robinson long throw.

It should be no surprise because this was the situation last season too.
However we could rely on the brilliance of N'Diaye and McAtee produced bits of magic too.
Suppose this season we look to Hamer to produce some magic.

It needs to revolve around getting the best out of Hamer and McAtee
And Archer.. I still don’t feel were playing go his strengths, especially when McB is not on the pitch.

we also need an identity and some sort of style of play at the moment we have no clue, its like statues hedging hit with a football, or should I say like table football players stationary and spinning around, with no clue whatvpr where to go.

I couldn’t tell you, because we don’t have one.

It’s getting to the point where it’s that bad, opposition goalkeepers might aswell bring a deckchair & flask out with them before every game. We never give them any work to do.

Very unfair to say we haven't got a plan. Piss about trying to give it to the opposition as close as possible to our goal followed by absolutely twatting it high and long to a pair of dwarves is a very clear and well defined plan.
I forgot about that

Why have we even got players like Hamer and McAtee in the squad? We’d have been better off with 10 outfield defenders in the team.

It's not something that just happened this season. Last season we had no real discernible style of play. We didn't dominate the ball, we weren't particularly good on the counter, we weren't amazing from set pieces. We won most matches because we had better players than the other team, and one of them (usually Ndiaye) was bound to do something eventually.

Strange that we sold Ndiaye and now struggle to create chances. Whoever could have predicted that?

Our plan is take the money and run!

Alongside that last years plan of give to to Ndiaye needs updating to give it to McAtee.

I refuse to believe we've even had 9 big chances.

And what were the other 6 goals we scored that weren't big chances?

What is this shit?
Goal at forest, goal at spurs, goal against Everton were all shots from the edge of the area or further out so guessing those. 2 own goals so they are all correct, the goal against city must not be classed as a big chance which is debatable. Guessing the penalty is the only "big chance" we've scored.

I was wondering about this.

According to the PL stats, the big chances missed are as follows:

.Oliver McBurnieSheffield United

Scotland

2.Anel AhmedhodzicSheffield United

Bosnia & Herzegovina

2.Chris BashamSheffield United

2.Luke ThomasSheffield United

2.Bénie TraoréSheffield United

McBurnie will be the Everton header, the Fulham header, the Man Utd shot, and one other. Any ideas anyone?

Anel, Thomas and Basham were all against Newcastle I think.

Traore was at Forest.

McBurnie's xg is 1.8. He's the biggest under performer. Hamer has 2 goals against 0.7 xg, the biggest over performer.

The board don’t care otherwise they would act.

Don’t see why the players should either.

So maybe we don’t have a theory to score goals.

What do you believe our style of play to be?

I genuinely don't know. Injuries are dictating a shift to a back 4, and to be fair, I'm all for that. The reasons for the 5 at the back - with the overlapping centre backs and advancing wing backs are long gone.

We're reliant on McBurnie, but he isn't fit consistently. We have very little ball carrying midfielders (Berge), very few capable of a high press (Illy), very few capable of retaining possession (Doyle). Hecky was very clear at the start of the season, he had had his best two players sold, and with that, our game plan had gone. You can't lose Berge, N'Diaye, and fail to replace Doyle and McAtee, and at that point not have Archer, Hamer, Souza in the building (without a pre-season with us) and expect to compete. We've been effectively trying to make up for lost time ever since, in the most competitive league in the world. Playing people when not fully fit, due to being low on numbers, and hey presto, the injuries have added up as well.

How are we going to create chances moving forward?

McBurnie and Archer or McBurnie and Brewster are your only glimmer of hope. Hamer and McAtee behind, with licence to create. Simplify their game. Conserve their energy for final third running. How we miss Berge for this.

What’s the plan for us to start competing at this level?

We need certain key players back from injury. McBurnie, Baldock, Egan. Then we need a settled back 4. We need 5 in midfield. Souza and one other instructed to sit. An extra man in there (Slimane?) to try and ensure we get over run less often, as we simply don't have the high end athletes to use a 3, and a 5 at the back. It's just inviting pressure. The one we glaringly miss for this system is a Doyle type. The Prince went for the cheap and less reliable option in Davies, and it shows. Norwood can't be this man, he hasn't got the legs. And I like him, saying that.

Do you think Hecky is completely blameless in all this?

Not entirely, in terms of certain selections and tactics along the way. But what more do we have expect the bloke to put up with? And how do we expect any one else to do any better, when we have been so poorly backed, so poorly organised in our preparation, and now we're so far off the pace. It's the easy option to advocate for a change of manager, ignoring that he will know the club best, should we go down - and that stability will be essential (Slav, Robson anyone?).
Is he blameless, no? Does the responsibility sit at his door? No. He's had to put up with:
A transfer embargo and nearly not making it over the line.
The sale of his best two players. No like for like replacements, in terms of quality or contribution.
Loss of playing style.
No recruitment in earnest until the season was 3 games old, and even then, we weaker than before the departures.
No pre-season with his now full squad, to build a playing style.
No consistent communication from the board to the fans. Communicating via the Prince's lawyer pal on Twitter. Seriously? A Premier League club? Really?!
No progress with key players and contracts, and future planning for the club.
No movement on the sale of the club. My only saving grace for this debacle of a season, was that it bought us time, funded by PL money, to plan for next year in the Championship. That time is running out, and fast.

The vast percentage of responsibility for this whole mess, like 98%+ sits with the Prince and the board. It's as simple as that, IMO.

Reassuring to know that our big chances have come from players most of whom are now injured.

Thomas's maybe the shot against Everton? It's a sad state of affairs regardless.
