This isn't a moan or a slagging off of the team. It is what it is and I can't see anything other than us ultimately falling short. Our performances at home have prevented us from being at at the top of a very poor league. Perhaps we don't have the quality to open defensive away sides up by playing the way we do. The teams that have consistent success in this league generally seem to be the ones that ram the ball down your throat. Whatever the reason we ought to be moving into 5th gear by now if we're serious about going up and we're not doing that.

I'm not even going to contemplate the possibility of playoff success. We know its top two or nothing, that's how it works at SUFC. Whatever happens, we've had opportunities to take the initiative and haven't done it. I honestly think we've got one more chance to do that this season. If we don't take that chance the team has no one to blame but themselves. Failure this season must be met with a change of manager. Sorry Danny, you're a good bloke but if you can't take them up this season you never will. The standard is garbage.

That's three games running now where I've left thinking that we honestly might not win at home again this season. It's not that it's not dropping for us or we're missing chance after chance, it's that we're really struggling to break anyone down or apply any constant pressure. What did we have after the red card today, one tame header from Murphy on target?

The coaching staff have proven, beyond all reasonable doubt, that they cannot compete at this level !!
Whatever happens at the end of the season, the coaching staff MUST be replaced, that includes Danny boy.
UTB & FTP

we're not going up.. sorry lads.. if three of the games had been away then we might have a chance but we are diabolical at home and have been all season

its got to change at home , or it could scupper us
we are at the business end now

I dont understand how they can come out from the start and be lifeless
It was like a pre season friendly

I know I always say this to this sort of comment, but who exactly would you replace Danny with ?

Where have you been all season, it's not changed at all. There are no excuses this year so Danny will have to leave

sorry but its the players , who comes out with 5 home games left and a great chance of automatic , and show zero passion , once they cross the white line players should switch into fully motivated mode , today we got to half time and I thought our players had group sleep apnoea syndrome,
I was buzzing coming in the ground, by half time theyd sent me to sleep

The manager is responsible for setting the mood of the players before they go on the pitch.
The manager is responsible for rotating his squad better.
The manager is responsible for better Subs.
The manager is responsible for changing tactics when things are not working out.

These are all things that he fails with week after week and now the injuries are coming, Kitson has a hammy, Hill was also injured and Poleon looked like he had played twice today before 3pm today as he was blowing out of his backside after 5 minutes. McMahon got a stupid booking so I think he is out now too

We are now going to rely on youth who have not seen much game time this year and guess who is responsible for that?

But the manager isnt responsible for his resources.
Miss out on promo this season and i fear for us,even darker days may lay ahead.

sorry but he has a tremendous record away , so he can motivate them , its just a mental block when they are at home, its home form thats costing us being top by a street , and thats down to the players

if they can perform away its in their heads when they fall short at home

yes hes a one off
and gets 100s of millions to spend on the best

wilson has to juggle shit, not an easy task
you're missing the point (deliberately i think).. mourinho's teams would die for the guy.. i wouldn't follow Wilson over the top

Watching us stumble towards a play off place is almost as painful as the inevitability of the Pigs overtaking us last year. Seeing us go tit for tat, with SWFC playing their games before us and knowing that eventually we would crack. Though it came by bizarre and unfortunate circumstances, we all had that feeling that those horrible fuckers would pip us. In a way, this horrendous drawn out experience is worse. The old familiar ‘it is in our hands’, means nowt with SUFC. I feel a bit like when Adams was in charge and the inevitability of us failing. We all knew in February we were getting relegated under ale house Micky and we’ve probably known for a while we are not going up. It is a thoroughly painful experience seeing us take a step forward and then fail to capitalise.

I agree with Pat that this home form will cost us. With a very tricky away fixture on Saturday we stand to lose more ground and then we go into 3 home fixtures that will make, though probably break us. The only hope I could see is that Swindon and Brentford are put in a position where they need to win and come to BDTBL and attack us. If the game is open and more like an away game, then we could possibly open them up. Our defence is good, so I am not worried about that. I can see us fluffing games against Crawley and Preston (get your money on 0-0’s now) and whilst I think we’ll pick up wins away at Pompey and Crewe, then this would probably just leave us short. Unless we beat Swindon and Brentford. But then you look at our record against the best teams under Wilson and all hope disappears.

I really hope that the players prove me wrong and we can get out of this godforsaken division, but I am starting to resign myself to trips to Gillingham and Bristol next term.

Thats a bit of a myth this season. We are actually doing quite well against the top teams. If you take the teams in 1-9 (i.e. those realistically in with a chance of at least a play off place) our record is P13 W6 D5 L2 pts 23

Perhaps I should have been more specific: against the top 6. Our record was terrible, only winning 2 of 10 (or 3 of 13 if you count the play offs). This season it is ever so slightly better, with us winning 3. We have a chance to change that (and our biggest chance of going up is through these - imo) with 2 more home games against the top 6, but is anyone expecting us to win those?!

That could be the key, we are better away because it's not down to us to force the pace. As you say, hopefully, Brentford and Swindon will need to win rather than be happy with a point which let's face it, they could achieve with ease at the moment. Having said that, Swindon looked as clueless as us against Donny and Brentford put up nothing at MK by all accounts.

This season, against the top 6, we have P8 W3 D3 L2 pts 12, which is 1.5 points a game.

I haven't checked, but would hazard a guess that the other 5 in the top 6 have either similar or worse records.

Edit: last season our record against the other 5 in the top 6 was P10 W2 D2 L6 pts 8. So we actually doing 50% better this season, with 2 games left to play.

Top 6 v Top 6 this season is really tight:

Doncaster P9 W3 D4 L2 F10 A9 Pts 13
Yeovil P10 W4 D1 L5 F12 A15 Pts 13
Swindon P9 W3 D3 L3 F13 A7 Pts 12
Sheff U P8 W3 D3 L2 F10 A9 Pts 12
Bournemouth P10 W3 D3 L4 F12 A14 Pts 12
Brentford P8 W3 D2 L3 F9 A11 Pts 11

Or on a points per game basis:

SUFC 1.5
Doncaster 1.44
Brentford 1.38
Swindon 1.33
Yeovil 1.30
Bournemouth 1.20

As I thought, we do have the best record in the "top 6 playing each other tournament" :-)
