SUFC Women - worth a watch?

Is there any reason why we don't use Hallam or FC for youth fixtures?
Hallam is completely unsuitable (and I'm a season ticket holder there) and wouldn't meet required standards. The slope, only three sides. And it gets fucking muddy enough up there, I'm sure Hallam wouldn't want a tenant.

I suspect much the same applies to Needy & Pleady In Dronfield FC. Although, as we know, they'll do ANYTHING for a Pound Note.

I'm no expert on the rules. But, I believe the Women are allowed to play on plastic. One medium term option would be for United to fund the required stands & seats at Handsworth. We already have strong ties up there. The Community Foundation teams study, train and play there. The McCabe stadium on the 'cliffe would have been perfect of course.

I have no issue with sharing a pitch but playing 2-3 games on a pitch during the same week did it no good last season.

I see no reason for a team which attracts such low attendances to play most of their games at the Lane. Sure, pick a few to play there every year, but what's the benefit for the club as a whole? There would be a much better atmosphere in a smaller stadium.
There would be a better atmosphere in a smaller stadium if the fans could actually get there. I was a season ticket holder last season, and will be again this season, for both men’s and women’s. I don’t drive, so getting out to Chesterfield or even up to the academy is shit and would mean I wouldn’t be able to go and support the team, and neither would loads of my mates who come to games with me.

Yes, I’d rather there was a more vocal atmosphere, but I’m pleased I can walk to the ground and have my normal match day routine for both the teams I support. Better than not being able to go at all.

Are they mothballing the women's team until a new owner appears or just outright killing it?

She was top scorer, also letting the 2nd top goalscorer go

Enderby will be off to WSL, Liverpool were linked with her other week. United had similar with Lucy Watson last summer: top scorer who was playing for England at youth level and she left for Chelsea at the end of her contract.

Sweetman-Kirk might well be off to do punditry full time for Sky which I’m assuming will pay her a proper wage vs part-time women’s football.

I’m expecting there’ll be a lot of new faces this summer with new(ish) full-time manager and the transition to full-time playing staff. Could be an exciting one.

They’re going full time

Where's money coming from? Skint arnt we? 😂

Apparently. I don't know details of how what why but wouldn't surprise me if there was some financial incentive to go full time so this is pure guesswork, and whilst im guessing if some of the best players are leaving id say it could be due to their higher PT wages being reallocated to full time cheaper wages? again all guess work. hope its successful though

Liverpool have signed England youth international Mia Enderby from Championship side Sheffield United.

Details including the length of contract and transfer fee paid for the 18-year-old forward, who spent two seasons with the Blades, have not been disclosed.

I hope we're able to command a decent fee but suspect we've been rodded.

I’ve seen the woman play a few times now, more of a ‘nothing to do that day’ than actually following the team, so not worth a season ticket.

I’ve got nothing to do on the 3rd so thought I may as well go and have a watch of the Sunderland match. The tickets are 10 quid.

This might sound a bit brutal but its just not worth 10 quid, a fiver yes, but no way am I paying a tenner.

I can jump on the X17 and watch Matlock Town for 10 quid and its better quaiity football, the same in bus fair and a nice walk afterwards.

Lets not forget the womens game is more family focused, Mum, Dad and a couple of kids, 30 quid, nobody’s paying that.

Be interestig to see if attendances drop this year.

By no means a regular watcher of the women but from the highlights the standard looks incredibly poor. I had thought of going to watch this season (despite what I've said previously) but I think I'll wait to see if they make it up another level.

Also, how do you tell people you missed from here?

or here? (for anyone wondering that's the keeper bottom left of the shot!)

Looks like the women's team have got off to as good a start as the men...

Regardless, going to give it a go on Sunday with the little 'un. Anyone know if you can part at the lane on the day? Either south stand or behind the kop?

The women did themselves proud yesterday after what must have been an horrific few weeks. Tributes to Maddy Cusak were well paid. And a deserved win after falling behind.

Seeing a number 10 with real height, pace and skill dismantle a visiting defence was a treat. Like watching a certain men’s player when I was a kid.

Watched a load of Blades women playing Fulham yesterday!

At home to Birmingham City today. Losing 2 0 afe time naa.
United are being bossed by stronger, fitter, more athletic players..hmmmmm. No plan A, no plan B....hmmmm....
Defending resolutely v a much better team.

Not trying to link the images shown are they?

No idea about any of it, but we were looking for our manager on Sunday, looking over to South Stand, no one could see him
Performance was dreadful against a way better team. Maybe everyone is understandably really upset currently.

Striking ability of Connor Sammon. Girls, the standard is slipping.
