An embarrassment

Let’s not forget that the club has, to some extent, had its heart broken this week with the sad news about Maddy Cusack. From the sounds of it she wasn’t just a player or a staff member; she was so much more and part of the Blades family.

I know that if a member of my team had passed away suddenly last week our productivity would have hit the floor. Let’s have a bit of empathy.
Let’s not play that one shall we

You can only piss with the cock you’ve got. We’re skint. We’ve got a decent first XI - probably mid bottom half - but we can’t afford strength in depth, so as soon as we lose a player we rely on (McBurnie in this case) we’re going to get fucked. Nothing we can do about it. We haven’t got the coin to compete.

Granted today’s capitulation is annoying and embarrassing, but let’s not forget we nearly got a point against the European champions.
I disagree totally, our 'first X1' is still relegation level. When we bring on the 2nd string, then OMG.

Take the point, but presumably you'd want to play well in her honour wouldn't you. Not give up.

Fair enough if you don’t think it will have had an effect on the team
Our latest club legend played the day after the death of his son and scored the most memorable goal of his career.

I’m not having losing a colleague as an excuse for THAT. It should have been the complete opposite performance.

Disagree.

Wes - decent
Bakdock - good
Anel - good
Egan - good
Robinson/Trusty - decent
Thomas - good
Hamer - very good
McAtee - very good
Bono - very good
McBurnie - good
Archer - good

Hecky is to blame for that second half performance. The tactical change made us look so open.

We were 3-0 & absolutely no chance we were going to come back from it, just be defensively strong and move on to West Ham.

Instead he went 4 at the back. Neither McAtee or Hamer were tracking their wingbacks so they just doubled up on us. Absolutely bizarre

Agree the change made things worse. If we'd stayed with 3 centre backs and shut up shop we possibly could have stayed at 0-3.

Hecky's big mistake was thinking that we had the players to push them back and maybe nick 1 to make it 1-3 and then maybe it's game on.

Should he have accepted defeat at half-time and closed up space to keep the score down??

That was... woeful.

No excuse but it did feel that the first couple of goals were gifted by refereeing decisions.

JLTs yellow card which resulted jn 3rd goal was (in my opinion) someone jumping into him.

Heads went down and we simply don't have any serious quality to introduce off the bench.

No rash decisions needed now, it will show a lot about the team how they collectively respond away to West ham.

I want Slimane to get a chance, when we aren't 5 nil down, I actually thought benie looked a bit stronger than previous games... maybe I was really looking for positives though.

Mcburnie is our game plan, just have to hope he doesn't get injured or banned.

Just seen the goals again and Fodderingham could and should have saved a LOT of those goals.

Defense, literally non existent. Egan, Anel looked like they couldn't give a crap.

Midfield, what's that then?

I have never seen a team give another team that much time and space with the ball. It was beyond ridiculous. You could see it later in added time at the end the look on Newcastle players faces taking the piss out of our players. Close them down ffs!!! Other teams do that to us. As soon as we get the ball in midfield they are pressured. We should do the fucking same no!?

It truly was the worst United match I can recall in living memory and I've seen a fair few bad matches.

Most of the players get a 1 or 2 out of 10 for me today. But, I am giving Bash a 10/10, he really did show the rest of our team up today and was up for it and showed that passion to actually bust a gut and play football, create, get involved and not go through the motions as the rest of the team were.

Think Hecky maybe should stay, I'm really on the fence now though. Can't see anyone doing any better with what we have got to be honest. But I would not be surprised if he was gone soon.

Can't use "it was a sad week" as an excuse. They should have used that energy to do Sheffield United proud in her name.

See above. Not really. I’m as sick as anyone about Maddy but that performance today was the complete opposite to honouring her.
Doesn’t matter what you or I think though. What matters is how it might have affected the players individually & we don’t know that. We also have no right to dictate how anyone else should react.

Oh please shut up that makes no excuse for that display!

Yep. Excuse them all. Fuck it. We can make excuses for every single game then by that method.

How do you know that’s the reasoning anyway? We looked pretty good up to 0-3 down.

I’m not making excuses - we should never be losing by that margin - but if anyone thinks we weren’t affected by what’s happened then they’ve never experienced unexpected bereavement.

Souza job is to sit infront if the back 3 he didnt.

Norwood job is to be a midfielder he didnt.

Our fullbacks were weak and gun-ho at times leaving space in the wide areas.

CBS didn’t deal with routine crosses.

And that front 3 did not work at all. In fact Archer has never feted nothing in the last 2 games.
