Andre Ayew

What other options are available? If Ayew comes in it will be to play a limited role giving us some much needed experience at the top end of the pitch late in games. Not sure why Sharp couldn't have done this, but that's water under the bridge.
He'd be next man up when McBurnie gets injured, likely to play some part in every game.

I'm all for experience but there has to be a real attacking threat attached to it.

He came on and worked hard, there is no doubt about that and I think was trusted as a character by cooper who had him before but we probably only got him late in the window as a bit of a last resort. Never got enough time to show much class

Wouldn't see it as a progressive signing obviously but of you had space in the squad he could bring something to the group.

Don't think he'll be on a wedge to be honest

I'd sooner give any minutes he'd get to a combination of Osula, Traore and Jebbison.

If we want an actual striker then we should've either signed one when we had chance or sign one on a free that has the attributes to help us - Ayew isn't that man, for me.

What is clear is if McBurnie is out we are screwed. We've seen the difference he makes since he came back. We definitely need back up for McBurnie whether this bloke can do it I have no idea.

However what I do know is anyone on here who thinks that at this present time Osula or Traore are an adequate replacement for him are living in cloud cuckoo land.

You could cover them both in superglue and the ball wouldn't stick to them.

We obviously wanted another attacker on loan after McAtee came in but used that spot up on Thomas after we discovered Larouci wasn't either footed.
I wanted Jordan Ayew earlier on but Andre seems a weird compromise.

Some of the comments on here crack me up.

The transfer window is shut, and we still need an attacking reinforcement, so our options are naturally going to be somewhat limited

Our scouting team does have a very good track record in recent years. Surely they have done their research and feel that Ayew is worth a punt for a relatively cheap outlay.

Or alternatively we just don't fucking bother, and then everyone is moaning when we inevitably pick up another big injury and we have no fucker to carry the ball forward again.

Moussa Marega would have been the guy to sign I think but he has opted to stay in Saudi Arabia. Stevan Jovetic is another but collects an injury every other game and has signed for Olympiacos now.

I think all things considered Ayew who seemed to do OK at Forest could do OK for us. He is left footed and can play about 3 different positions up front.

Like someone said, he could be our Mcgoldrick signing?

He's not going to start 34 games but coming off the bench he's a goal threat and has more experience than anyone.

I'd rather sign someone like Ayew than NOBODY, don't forget most of our strikers are always injured..........

I'd take him. Goes without saying that it needs to be heavily in our favour. Incentive based deal until January/end of season would see us have some cover without breaking the bank and could make the difference when it comes to picking up points.

Like lots have said above it's a long season and injuries happen. I'd rather he plays that see us go back to Traore/Osula starting games.

If decent wages whats not to like about him. Should have kept Billy for 1 year in hindsight

Good pub quiz question on him and his brother, played against each other in a PL game and both scored. Which two teams?

Palace and Swansea?

Jordan for Palace?

This 100%. Is he an ideal striker I would have signed in June? Absolutely not! Is he worth a punt if we can get him on a short contract with sensible wages considering the window is shut and we can’t get anyone else in until January? I’d say so.

Ok let’s stick with Traore running about like an absolute sausage doing fuck all then! He’ll save us from relegation when Mcburnie is crocked in 4 games time I’m sure. At least Ayew would be on a free. We paid millions for Traore.
Give the lad a chance FFS he's 20 years old moving to a new country

Panto time!
Or is that more for Laroucci?? "Hes behind yo..........to late."

Whose word was that? I don’t remember seeing anyone saying that.

Happy to be wrong, as always.
Not one that I’d heard before. Could be that Thomas having to be signed killed a forward coming in.

Always risks in leaving it late in the search of ‘value’
