Doyle (if he comes) in to midfield with hamer & souza, McBurnie Archer up front, Traore in behind
McAtee in behind (if he comes), think Davies,Norwood,Osborn, Coubaily, & Slimane are cover imo
We won’t get both Doyle and McAtee

I find it fascinating that there are constantly reports of the likes of Southampton and Leicester awaiting news on McAtee. Even if City don't want him in a relegation struggle with us, there will be other Premier League sides more than happy to give him a place in their side. What would be the point for his development in another Championship season?

More game time in a side who will dominate possession and do a lot of attacking.

Most clubs who will want McAtee in the PL will be lower end teams with little prospect of ball retention or attacking threat.

Is that not why they would want a player like McAtee? Improve ball retention etc

We need McAtee, we don't "need" but would very much like to have Doyle. But it would be the end to a succesful window if we got both (a loan and a permanent). All up to the Pepster.
wonder if pa has got 1 more suprise for us and finds 10m for tommy doyle as well as getting mcatee back on loan

It depends how effective he is. I think we'd do him some good because he's an outlet and suits counter attacking football, but Man City might want him to be like Silva, who has a lot of the ball and prods and pokes until he unlocks the opposition. It would benefit them more long term if he's playing for Leicester, who teams will just come and sit in against, like they do against Man City, than a relegation scrapper in the PL who will have less than 40% of the ball in most games.

I commented on Saturday that our team has had to relearn how to play football in the PL because we've gone from possession heavy in the Championship and trying to turn dominance into goals, to counter attacking, pinch a goal and defend well.

I don’t think we get McAtee on perm and I don’t think, myself personally, we need to buy Doyle, he is too unproven at prem level unless it’s really cheap considering what we already have here right now

We'll yes, that's pretty much what I said 😂

We could true but would anyone better than Doyle what to play for us?

My post was obviously tongue in cheek anyway :)

There’s 0 chance Palmer ends up here, so just hope they choose to loan McAtee instead

Pep suggested they might sell Palmer recently.
I think he's desperate to get out and play and City can't offer him that (having said that, neither can Chelsea).

I've mentioned a few times we'd be a bit buggered if City decide to do something with Palmer and it looks to be the case.

I think if we were allowed 2 loans from the same team that would have helped us land both by now. Think being able to send both to one club worked well for Man City, us and the players last year.

What has also probably counted against us is;

  • Saudi money trimming squad players from the EPL
  • Big financial clubs towards the top of the Champ.
  • Poor start to our campaign pointswise.
  • Injuries to the primary players we are after (Dialo, Chuckwuemeka) or secondary (Man Utd attackers) etc.

Hopefully as the deadline draws closer there is a Lewis O'Brien situation of a really good player that can't be registered. The problem is, is that the bottom 10 teams in the league don't want to lend to us and the top 6 don't want to lend us attacking players if they can lend higher up the food chain for a more possession dominant team. It feels like last minute rushed deadline day flights from Europe could happen like the Slav transfer window. Not long to keep eyes peeled now.. 👀

Not sure why palmer would really want to go to Chelsea. They will just sign another 15 players in January again with no thought to who is already there.

Another expensive toy to be picked up then forgotten about by the next transfer window.
Chelsea are like the missus on Temu, impulse buy everything and see if anything is actually decent.

Oi oi

Article doesn't really have much substance to why we are leading the race though. For us to be leading the race at this stage you would think it should just evolve into it happening. They don't want to sell him so why not just sort it out..

You'd expect Nicko (who has run Macca stories all summer) to jump in soon with something more substantional to take the Limelight of the FI tweet
