Yeh my scenario is more a what do we do if this is all we have etcPossibly so but similar to Doyle, Hamer's more natural position is deeper, although he can play further forward if necessary
We won’t get both Doyle and McAteeDoyle (if he comes) in to midfield with hamer & souza, McBurnie Archer up front, Traore in behind
McAtee in behind (if he comes), think Davies,Norwood,Osborn, Coubaily, & Slimane are cover imo
We need McAtee, we don't "need" but would very much like to have Doyle. But it would be the end to a succesful window if we got both (a loan and a permanent). All up to the Pepster. We won’t get both Doyle and McAtee
More game time in a side who will dominate possession and do a lot of attacking.I find it fascinating that there are constantly reports of the likes of Southampton and Leicester awaiting news on McAtee. Even if City don't want him in a relegation struggle with us, there will be other Premier League sides more than happy to give him a place in their side. What would be the point for his development in another Championship season?
Is that not why they would want a player like McAtee? Improve ball retention etcMore game time in a side who will dominate possession and do a lot of attacking.
Most clubs who will want McAtee in the PL will be lower end teams with little prospect of ball retention or attacking threat.
wonder if pa has got 1 more suprise for us and finds 10m for tommy doyle as well as getting mcatee back on loanWe need McAtee, we don't "need" but would very much like to have Doyle. But it would be the end to a succesful window if we got both (a loan and a permanent). All up to the Pepster.
It depends how effective he is. I think we'd do him some good because he's an outlet and suits counter attacking football, but Man City might want him to be like Silva, who has a lot of the ball and prods and pokes until he unlocks the opposition. It would benefit them more long term if he's playing for Leicester, who teams will just come and sit in against, like they do against Man City, than a relegation scrapper in the PL who will have less than 40% of the ball in most games. Is that not why they would want a player like McAtee? Improve ball retention etc
I don’t think we get McAtee on perm and I don’t think, myself personally, we need to buy Doyle, he is too unproven at prem level unless it’s really cheap considering what we already have here right nowWe need McAtee, we don't "need" but would very much like to have Doyle. But it would be the end to a succesful window if we got both (a loan and a permanent). All up to the Pepster.

We'll yes, that's pretty much what I saidMore game time in a side who will dominate possession and do a lot of attacking.

If you can afford that you can afford better than Doyle tbfIt's simple really.
Doyle on permanent
McAtee on permanent
Palmer on loan to buy
The rest of the squad have to fit in and around them![]()
Lol sorry slow morning for me I thinkWe could true but would anyone better than Doyle what to play for us?
My post was obviously tongue in cheek anyway![]()
There’s 0 chance Palmer ends up here, so just hope they choose to loan McAtee instead
Surely if we can't get Mcatee on loan we'll go for Doyle as one of the loans?
Chelsea are like the missus on Temu, impulse buy everything and see if anything is actually decent. Not sure why palmer would really want to go to Chelsea. They will just sign another 15 players in January again with no thought to who is already there.
Another expensive toy to be picked up then forgotten about by the next transfer window.
I agree Capt I meant more as in if we couldn't get anyone else. Better than no one.I don't think he solves any of our major problems.
We need someone to connect the midfield and attack and provide a goal threat. Doyle's not that type of player.
