Talk of him being off to Leeds is picking up again. And since it’s been mentioned, Keinan Davis apparently off to Hull for a mere £1m - bargain in todays market.

If Davis hadn’t played that 1 decent game against us no one would be mentioning him.

There’s a reason he’s only costing £1m and going to Hull

He obviously had more than just that one game that was good that season. Anyway, good signing for Hull in my opinion for that price, they’ll do well this season.

Hamer is a £15m player. We need more of those to survive.
Not another 3 x £5m players.

I get that gems can be found for £5m (Traore looks encouraging for example) but they usually need time to be developed.
We don't have that time on our side.

We need 2/3 guys to come in and instantly lift the level of our first XI.
Maybe 1 is a permanent and 2 are loans? But they do need to be found.
i think your about right there 1 permanent signing and 2 loans and think were done then should all unravel after weve begged pep to let us have doyle for 7m and mcatee back on loan 😉

I wouldn't mind Sheraldo Becker at Union Berlin. 28. Last year of contract. £15m - £20m. Currently on around £20k week.

The scattergun approach ;)
With our budget you could argue it has to be, although calculated risk rather than scattergun.

Even high profile transfers in football don't work out, players you think cannot possibly fail, do. Gambling on 4 x £5m transfers is a better percentage than 1x £20m. Look at Brewster, completely overpriced (not his fault), but constantly injured or out of form. He should be our talisman this season and the reason we shouldn't be having these debates on who to bring in, but he's injured again. If we'd brought in 4 strikers instead, and used the Warnock approach (You can't have too many strikers), we might have a bit more confidence on who we have got up top going into this season with someone coming into/ going out of form

Your argument has merit, but falls down when we consider that:

1. 4 wages to pay instead of 1

2. We are limited to a 25 man squad

Are we in any danger of getting close to a 25 man squad? Not counted but feels like we're ten short!

We've currently got 23 seniors (3x GK, 10x defenders, 8 x midfield, 2x strikers, plus Osula, Jebbo and Traore who are under 21). This includes a few crocked ones though: Fleck, Brewster, RND and Coulibaly.

As much as i would like to see him at the Lane i think we should move on from him . Villa want our pants down anyway we dont have 20 mill so lets concentrate on another one and stop kidding our selves. .Up to 15 mill yes but 20 mill no.

Here's the situation.

Villa are like the ticket tout outside a stadium with a handful of tickets 15 minutes before the match.
It's a Leonel Messi match and the tout knows there are people desperate to watch, so the 40 dollar tickets are being sold at 300 dollars.
Sheffield United are really desperate....will we pay the asking price with the added "desperation tax"?

We're realised that we can turn the tables on Villa.
Imagine a ticket tout 5 minute before kick-off with a few spare unsold tickets, the price now reduced to 150 dollars.
At kick off the price of the tickets reduces again to 80 dollars.

Basically as we near the end of the transfer window.....it's suddenly Villa who become desperate to sell.
They don't have any plans to use Archer.....so need to loan him out or sell him this window.
.....otherwise they'll have an unhappy stagnant player on their books losing value.

So United are waiting in the wings.....if Villa receive bids from other clubs we'll probably lose him.
If they don't receive any interest from PL clubs for 20 million...then they'll return to us asking if we're still interested.
United will be lining up alternative strikers....just incase Archer goes elsewhere.

All this talk of Archer, hope we don't pay over the odds for him just to get someone in by the end of the transfer window

It's the blades way to Pani I raised a point with el accounto why are we slow he says better deals are at the end of the window . The counter argument is wait till the end more chance to miss out and not being anyone or panic buy

If they want £20 million for Archer I would suggest this deal moves to the back of the line and we work on other deals.

If we are desperate at the end we can revisit or if vial need the cash for another deal then they might soften.

Or…….. 5 mins to KO and tout drops price then there 20 people willing to buy his 10 tickets

Wages

I think it’s got to be pretty evident to Villa now that they aren’t going to get 20 million, it’s possible they might get a loan with obligation if promoted though
