So most people seem to be split into two camps at the moment.

1. We are awful and have been well and truly found out. The 14 match unbeaten run and being top at Christmas was just good fortune and down to everybody else being crap. The sale of Blackman and the clueless management means a slow and steady slump to a mid table finish awaits.

2. We have a decent team and are still well capable of promotion. The run of results since the Hartlepool match is just a blip and we will return to winning/drawing ways soon.

I voted for bad run. Every team has them, every team loses to teams they would otherwise beat, and beat teams they thought they'd have no chance against, it makes the game interesting. I think we will still be in the play-offs at the end.

So, an unbiassed, unloaded question then.:D

I voted "found out", but I don't believe we're anything like as bad as we seem right now, just not very good either.

Not beaten anyone in the top 6, apart from Bournemouth when they were crap.

What's the question again?

Not a great selection as polls go.

I have seen us play about 4 decent games all season. The rest have been average to poor. I've argued several times after matches that we aren't playing well (against those who look only at the result/league table) and so I have put "found out".
I don't think "found out" is a particularly good description of where I think we are and a better one would be "finding the level our performances have deserved".
We need to improve, we are capable of improving, we need to do it damn quickly. January has not helped the cause, in my view.

weve been shit all season. i said that when we went top, and loads of times before that. when people said "we'll run away with it now were top" i thought theyd been at marijuana gin.

fact is we have a real ordinary squad. losing miller certainly was a blow, and then we decided to replace miller by selling blackman. shrewd!

Definitely 'found out'. Definitely not as good as DW thinks we are. Apart from few exceptions, scrapped results this season. Now been 'found-out'. Can see no reason to believe this won't continue. We are not a very good side.

Controversial stuff, Grecian.

:)

Given the form of late I would suggest we just are not as good as people think we are/were. The teams that are probably better than us at the moment are those above us and Coventry, MK and Yeovil.

What is dispiriting is that:
a) Wilson is having difficulty motivating his players to deliver
b) We so nearly made it last year
c) We keep selling our better players
d) The fans are fed up being 'misled' by the owner
e) We have sort of been there before and United do have a habit of not learning fromtheir mistakes.

Apart from that the future is rosy ;)

Found out for sure. I don't think the team is as bad as people are making out but I do believe the coaching staff are severely lacking when it comes to getting the best out of them and/or getting them to play to the player's strengths.

I reckon that most folk on here would be able to effectively prepare a comparatively equipped team to play against us and get a result at the moment. Those results against lowly Hartlepool and Yeovil were no flukes and now the word is out, expect more of the same unless Danny can find some inspiration from somewhere to change the ethos. Not holding my breath though...

3rd option = We were an average team to begin with in this division but after a relatively stable start we have got progressively worse since the season entered the Winter months - also losing some key players through injury at critical times BUT not replaced or covered them effectively enough.

Teams have worked out how to play us, for sure - press up the pitch - no need to watch for any counter attack because we break with the pace of a snail with a lob on.

The current team has been found out, but I think it's possible to make adjustments that will see us challenge again.

Based on the fact that the last 3 teams that have come to the lane have looked more hungry, stronger and faster than us, I would have to say found out. I believe without injuries and sales we were auto promotion, not anymore. Yeovil in particular showed us up for what we are no, a mid table league one side.

like most clubs we are running with a squad on a money in , pay what we can these days staff
Top , better sides in this division have between 5 -8 decent players , not superstars but decent enough for purpose the strugglers have 2 or 3
We clobbered Scunthorpe as we looked set to forge ahead , but the curse of playing the Iron struck in a different way , we lost Collins and Miller 2 of our decent 6, its left us with 4 above average for this league and took its toll on our results We havent been found out , just had 20% of our first choice quality taken away , so getting 10% back where small margins matter should steady the ship

Simple for me. Early in the season the results were better than the performances. Now the results are matching the performances.

I think we can win our next four games, ever the optimist, this is just a bad run.

I noticed on betfair we are now 16/1 to win the league. "Dip yer bread boys"

Part of the problem is that the players think they are far better than they actually are ! subsequently they don't think they have to put in the effort they think they just have to go out onto the pitch and the other team will give up!
Add that to a manager who doesn't appear to have a clue of what to do when the going gets tough - same owd same owd - ask Hartlepool, Swindon, Bristol City and MK Dons!!
The icing on the cake is that when we are in a position to challenge for automatic promotion and having lost through injury for the rest of the season the only bright light in attack , Miller,McCabe sells our top scorer Blackman.
The club is riddled with backsliders, big time charlies and has beens - managed by a man out of his depth and the club owner/ chairman couldn't give a sh!t and wants to recoup all his money by either pocketing transfer money, Tevez money, Hotels, Ground........................the list goes on Found out - you bet weve been found out!

HH - for your info we haven't won a league game since 27th December 2012 - we have not won four on the bounce all season - we are playing dire football - our defence is like a sieve, our attack is as potent as a blancmange and our midfield is non existant - our manager is on another planet!

As for Betfairs' 16/1 offer do yourself a favour keep your wallet firmly closed - not a hope in hell!

Forget your Blackman related issues and tactical analysis of wingers. It's all about the de-fence baby.
At the start of the season with a relatively settled defence and keeper we kept in games and snatched quite a few by being very solid.

A few key players out of the rearguard and its all fallen apart. Not surprising.

Tighten up at the back and we will start to win games again.

We should have bought a new keeper, a centre back and new full backs.

i like the confidence. youre completely and utterly hilariously wrong. but who cares. im fed up with this shit, lets go out there and muller them creepy crawleys! :D

sneaky & fortunate 1-0 wins at the start of the season masked the under-lieing fact that we arnt very good.

Now we dont win 1-0 every game weve been found out.

I think that found out is a good description of the problem. Opposing teams have found out that we can't keep the ball or win it back by pressing our players all over the pitch. Earlier on in the season, other teams paid us too much respect (for their own good) and hung back and defended deep. Now they put us under pressure all over the pitch. One example of this was how they "robbed" Kitson and then caught us on the hop as too many of our players were positioned towards attacking.

Bit of both :)

We are easier to play against this season and don't have the 'game changers' to break down solid teams. Having said that, and despite how bad we've been in spells, we haven't had the run of the ball in the last few games either.

Jury's still out for me, not sure how good / bad we are really.

I hesitated between the options as I think it is really a bit of both. Earlier in the season we were grinding results out and getting points when we probably did not deserve them. However we were rock solid defensively, which made a big difference. Losing Collins was a massive blow for us. I naively thought we would be ok, but to lose Hill as well was shocking. Anyone else notice Maguire's form dip when Higginbottom came in? (or when he did not have Collins marshalling him).

We started to get a bit more expansive at some point, think it was when Miller came in and Blackman went out wide. We started to lose a bit of solidity, but it was fine because we had enough quality to beat teams. But then we lost Collins and Miller. Things went wrong from there.

I definately think there is an element of teams finding us out. It is not rocket science to see if you play with a high tempo from the 1st minute, press us high, give us little space in the middle of the park etc then we struggle. The last 3 teams that have come to the Lane have done that. In all 3 of the games we have given teams a head start though and we could have easily beaten 2 of them (Hartlepool had Flynn's goal stood and we missed chances at 1-1 with Coventry).

The key for me is getting back to being solid. Having a back four of McMahon, Maguire, Collins and Higginbottom (or Hill) is solid and has a lot of experience. We have to stop giving teams a goal head start and I think we will. I think we will go back to grinding results out and that is why I voted for 'bad run'. I think yesterday was a turning point and that we will go back to winning (when we might not necessarily deserve to) and will challenge for the top 2.

Glad I dipped my bread when I did. Although, there is still a lot of work to do.

The big game coming up, is Bournemouth away. A six pointer for sure.
