It's rare any manager has 100% success with a transfer window. Even when Wilder shaped a side from 11th in league one to getting 100 points he signed a few like a Chris Hussey who didn't work out.

He signed more than "a few" who didn't work out, Wilders eye for a player was pretty shocking overall.

His hits were far better than his misses which is all you can ask of any manager. Hecky had only had one permanent, before recently, and he was a decent signing but I am not expecting him to have an 100% success rate

I suppose the biggest failing was the misses once we’d reached the Premier League. You can argue that his hands were a little tied because of the funds (fee + wages) we had available but to not sign a single player who particularly improved our squad despite some of the money paid over multiple transfer windows was very poor and ultimately his and our downfall.

His misses were a lot more costly, were they also more damaging to the club?

Dont know figures compared to the £’s spent on Brewster, McB and Berge alone. At least we got 75% back on Berge from pants darn Vini
His hits got us into a position where we could spend even more than 5 million on a single player... So no. I don't think even the flops wipe out the good ones. It was essentially the core of his side that got us back up. In total that core has brought in over 500 million in guaranteed TV money and that's if we go straight down this year!

It was his narrow focus when it came to signing players that was the main problem. He wanted players who were already playing and England and wouldn't even entertain the thought of signing a player who couldn't speak English.

We had the chance to bring in Soucek and Trossard, but Wilder didn't want to know.

Brewster at £20m, McBurnie at £20m, Berge at £26m Freeman at £6m say hold my beer....plus the waste of space signings like Holmes, Leonard, Evans....need I go on....Wilder spunked millions on poor signings, (on the whole) that we are still paying for now.

Best get on with this if we are actually interested. Others also linked.IMG_4062.jpeg

Pretty sure Trossard spoke english.

Nixon reporting c.£12m.
Do you know if it will include a buy-back clause?
We are working on it not including one. As of now though it could still however be any of these three types of deal (perm buy without buyback / perm buy with buyback / LTB with heavy fee for loan reducing end payment).
