Or we could just have bought fucking Akpom…..
We've got the cash for only ONE transfer fee for a MF or striker to go straight into first eleven.
Club is having to watch a lot of spinning plates to see which of about 4 more signings makes most sense as loans and on which ONE we need to invest a transfer fee.
It is a tricky task , especially when the clubs from whom we might loan a player refuse to commit until late in the window.
You really need to know who you can get on loan before you blow your transfer fee.
Add in the fact that for each player who arrives , Hecky needs to reconsider the compatability of his other targets , it is incredibly difficult.

Akpom played deeper with Archer playing further up. If anything, Akpom played off Archer.
The two together were a great combo. We will need someone close to Archer, he won't be able to do it all by himself in the PL.

Agree....the Boro fans wonder whether Akpom just found his perfect position and partner.
Akpom up front wasn't so good but coming deeper into midfielder, making forward runs and having Archer along side him turned Akpom into a good goal scorer.

Was really surprised how good Archer's hold up play was at BL. He had great movement and strength. Really gave our lads the run around and stretched the play.

Would be delighted with him on a permanent signing.

Seems United and Leeds are the most interested, I can't imagine he'd rather join them over us, I reckon we'll be in the bo
Middlesbrough also in the race.
Guessing using the money from the Akpom sale. Can't see Archer wanting to join Boro now though after they're clearly weaker than last season and still in the Championship. We're weaker at present but getting stronger by the end of the window I would hope!

Tbh , if a reasonable buyback (giving us a decent profit on success) will reduce the initial fee to something we can afford to risk on a young player (unproven in the Pl , just like Brewster) , then I don't see the problem with it.
I suppose if there's a buyback clause and Villa want to activate it, it means we and Archer have probably been successful. If that's the case, and let's say the buyback is double what we paid, then we make a profit, we're still in the Prem (with Prem money), so we could probably attract and buy a replacement at that point if needed

And they've just dropped 6-7m on a different striker.

Looking at their incomings they're struggling to replace the players they've lost more than we are.

A loan with obligation to buy is surely just a waste of one of our two domestic loans?

Wouldn't say it's a waste if you want said player permanently but can't afford the fee right now, and waiting til next summer means a higher likelihood of missing out, especially in the event of relegation

When we’re as short as we are though (players and £) the two loans are invaluable.

I see your point. Do you see mine?

Of course, but there's so many factors to consider e.g., the loan market player pool, the gamble of waiting til the deadline etc. I'd also only really consider it a waste of a loan if it was for a player who wasn't immediately strengthening the starting XI.

I agree with you but Hecky signing a LWB is Hecky admitting he's fucked up with Larouci so that ain't happening
Hope you are wrong mate . The threats coming down our left not just in the palace game but in our warm up matches was there for all to see . I am sure Hecky would realize it even if he might not say it . Not often he gets it wrong ,probably the Brighton lad was another and he allowed him to go back even if he did not admit it . I am not getting at him he has done a great job when you think what he has had to put up with but we have all dropped a clanger now and then . Except me of course ha ha .

Evening Chris

We seem to be getting a bit giddy about Archer .Has not been proven in the prem but he did look good at the Lane last year and God we do need something pretty quick after that showing at the weekend but reserving judgement on the guy .As someone said early we got giddy over Brewster and he has been a disappointment .
Who else is there
Have some patience.
🤣 You said its accelerating rapidly, now you want patience.. I aint a doctor. Have patience.. Been after him since January, embargo haulted that. So seems we have been very patient since promotion was confirmed, almost static.
Just my opinion pal. You'll know better obviously 🙄

Trusty is gonna make a big difference there. I like Robbo but Trusty is an upgrade and will add solidity there
