Having to settle for one of Hamer or Akpom doesn't really sit right

Is there any reason we shouldn't be able to do this;

Hamer - 13m
Smallbone - 8m
OBrien - 7m
Akpom - 10m
(and 2 loans)
(plus Trusty, Traore & Slimane - 11m)

- Total of 49m

Having sold

Ndiaye - 17m
Berge - 12m
And hopefully Jebbison for at least 3m

Net spend of 17m in this case. Is that really unreasonable to expect?
You forgot Souza

It makes absolutely no sense considering we've spent about £8m so far and supposedly have our biggest budget ever.

Forgot Souza. Edited to 26m net spend - which by absolutely no means should be too much to expect. Especially when it results in such a high quality, crucial rebuild. But it probably will be

I agree but that's just going on El Accountos tweets. It might purely be financial, I.e. we can afford Hamer or Akpom and the funds for the other type of player then becomes less. Or Hamer pairs better with a player who isn't Akpom. Just speculating.
Given the sales of Ndiaye and Berge we're pretty much net spend across this window with all our deals done to date plus Hamer, Smallbone and Souza.
Therefore there should still at least £10m left in the kitty given the Simane, Traore and Trusty spend, which was all before they knew about the exits, which would be enough for Akpom (unfortunately).

Loan fees will mean not enough Akpom is my guess

In terms of money available for transfers, I think the only thing to take from PA and PH public statements, is that they aren’t ever going to tell anyone the actual true figure. 😉

My lasses mum has just mentioned she's seen on Sky Sports News that Hamer is set for a medical at Leeds tomorrow. Anyone confirm hearing this?

They've just posted a Brazilian flag on twitter....

Ahh... Just seen: he's representing the Netherhlands. Oops. It must be Souza then.

It'll be a shame if we try to cheapskate it and end up without at least 3 of these midfielders

Souza, Hamer, Smallbone and OBrien would all be extremely popular with our fans, I feel. Doyle too if that's still on

It's a great opportunity to build something very good

Smallbone & O'Brien give us a foundation for a possible promotion push in 24/25.
Palmer and Hamer give us a bit of a chance in PL games.

Yep. It seems we're in a position to make ourselves very competitive in midfield/attacking midfield

My worry now is the striker with Akpom looking less likely

Oh, and LWB still.... obviously

We've not made a bid then (yet). They surely wouldn't risk him otherwise

Or we’ve made a bid and it’s a negotiation tactic? A case of Coventry showing us they are happy to keep him unless we meet their valuation.

also a direct rival Coventry aren't playing us for atleast a season and could be more if they go up and we go down

Our biggest budget ever was three seasons ago and most of that Chris Wilder spaffed up the wall.
