The Kop is shit. Shit view. Posts in view. People stand when we get a throw in. It's full of nobheads.

I only sit there because its a damn sight cheaper than the South Stand where I was previously housed.

I also have to say that the concourses on the away end are much better as stated... That surely doesn't warrant charging away fans more though surely!?

I have a good view from my seat. There are no posts in view and I don't think I've ever seen anybody stand up for a throwing.

Where the hell are you sat?

I’m on the Kop because I basically still sit where we stood when my Dad took me.
However, I’m fully aware that it IS a crap stand, as the club has now confirmed.
There is no legroom, I do have a post in view and everybody does leap to their feet when there’s a goalscoring chance (corner, long throw, whatever).
Queing in the rain for a pie or a pint is crap. Not being to able to see the half-time scores on Sky Sports News is crap.

I do think it’s interesting how the Coventry fan is utterly incredulous that a club would provide better facilities for the away fans than their own loyal supporters.
Should United have spent money on rebuilding/improving the Kop rather than on improving the away end and building the now barely used corner stand?
On the other hand, would that have just resulted in a massive price hike on the Kop? Do they only charge a lot less because they know it’s crap?
How much are the extra facilities actually worth? £1 a match maybe?

The kop is by far the worst stand in the ground, the angle is all wrong and most people stand whenever there is a corner or a cross coming in. I bailed out and moved to the south stand in 2008 the view is cracking although the atmosphere isn't so good.
Never been on the Bramall Lane lower, would imagine most seats are too low to get a good view of the game.

The kop is ok if you are sat in front of the pillars, any further back and you start to do an impression of a jack in a box constantly up and down as the ball gets near the goal of which unless you are over 6ft tall you will only see the crossbar.
Facilities are crap too no cover at all to have your pie and pint, I don't know about improvements being needed more like a total demolition and rebuild ............................. lets hope McCabe never gets the money to do it or it could end up as another hotel. ;);)

The front of the kop can't be beaten for big games though for run of the mill league fixtures I'd tend to go south stand if I have the money.

You are either lying or sat in front of the posts.

Personal preference at the end of the day.

South Stand for view. Kop for singing.

"Our Kop which people always consider as the equivalent area (to the Away end) as it is behind the opposite goal has a high percentage of restricted view seats due to pillars and all concessions and toilets are uncovered and outside which can be affected by adverse weather. "

Had a season ticket on the lower BL from 1994-96 and the upper in 81-82 and both stands are much better than the Kop stand. It was always a cheap and nasty build to start with (much in the image of the Chairman of the time... Mr Woolhouse) and now we can add dated to that list.

Had season tickets in every stand at the Lane and South Stand is the best of the lot. In the old days John Street east terrace was numero uno.

Basic problem is that all the stands face the pitch!

There were rumours that the Kop had structural problems.

Unless being a shithole counts as a structural problem I'm presuming they were unfounded?

The Kop used to be better when you could still watch the match through the fence in the corner when you had gone for a piss.

Yes it does have problems part of it has sunk an inch or two so they say, making a poor view even worse for some. Apparently if you look along the seat tops from one side you can see the dip, I would imagine it is on the latest bit high up on the SE corner.

There are no posts in view(of the pitch) from my seat either. I sometimes can't see Nick Blackmans run up before lofting a corner onto the first defenders head but other than that, all good.
The standing up is a chain reaction. Most people stand up because the person in front of them has and they would like to see. I used to have a bloke in front of me who stood up at every opportunity and most of the time all I could see was his arse. I kindly asked him to stop doing it but he continued. One match I got so pissed off with it, in a quiet moment I grabbed hold of 2 big handfuls of his coat and held it, rolled over the back of his seat. Next time he tried to shoot to his feet he couldn't and virtually garotted himself trying. We had a big argument after he asked me why I'd done it and I answered "Because I'd like to see the fucking game". He moved a while after that but I still see him and he always shakes my hand and has a chat.
The leg room on the Kop is shit. I have permanent imprints on my knees from the seat in front and if someone has to pass you, you have to virtually climb into the row behind to let them.

The problem with the Kop is that the pitch isn't steep enough. It was fine for a standing area but not for seated.

It's impossible to argue with the points on this thread about the atmosphere being best on the Kop but at 6'3" I can't even sit at an angle without losing feeling from my knees down as the seat in front digs into my legs. In terms of view, you can't beat the Bramall Lane upper tier or the corner between Bramall Lane and the South Stand.

The whole structure needs to be flattened and rebuilt but we don't have the money. I think the two-tier plans involve a complete rebuild...it's just a pity that we need to get settled in the Premier League first :)

Whilst not as tall as Balham I always have similar problems sitting down in the kop - I can't say it's down to idiots in the kop - they appear in any part of the ground I'm sitting - generally in the next seat!
Perhaps its me!!!

I don't like the Kop for that reason - same as when I'm at gigs; I'm very aware that I'm taller than most people and so if I stand up in front of someone, they're unlikely to be able to see what's going on. Unfortunately, on the Kop I've little choice.

I think that all these whinges and moans indicate delusions of grandeur - this is Sheffield United, shit happens.

I'm quite happy on the Kop, I've not changed my seat since I started going at 3 years old. I sit on row S, I can see every part of the pitch and it's a decent enough view. I can see everything when I stand up too, and I'm only 5'6!

I like the fact the whole stand gets up when we attack. To me, it wouldn't be right if you couldn't hear all the seats folding up when we get a chance. If it bothered me as much as it seems to bother some people on here, I'd rather pay the extra money to sit in one of the other 3 stands we have!

Maybe I'm just old fashioned even though I'm only 24.

I'm the same, though the Posts do my head in and the concourse is crap. But I don't go to the footy for the wonderful catering, I go for the shite football

Wouldn't sit anywhere else. Hate it in early Cup rounds when I'm forced to the sides of the pitch.

Moved around the kop when it really was a kop. Hung off the railings behind the goal as a nipper, graduated to the "white wall" in the 71 promotion season, moved to hang off the rafters at the back in the mid seventies, down to the barriers (John Street side of goal) just above the gangway and finally a little bit further back than that to the other side of the goal. When it came to sitting got a seat pretty much where we'd finished up standing and sat there from day 1 to Hoofy inspired giving up of the ST.

Always try and get as close to there as possible on a match by match basis and usually get pretty close. No problem with view, leg room or people standing when we attack. Part of the game.
Facilities are shit but I only use in emergencies anyway.
Can't think where I'd rather be than the Shoreham End at BDTBL even now!

As a shortish guy the KOP is no good for me.

At the back of the stand the posts get in the way and at the front everyone stands up at every half chance we get. The atmosphere is good but that is all. It needs to go and it probably should have been rebuilt well before we re did the away end and hotel.

Home fans are the bread and butter but McCabe chose to make everything more welcoming for the away fans. Which works I guess if your in the Premier League as you will fill the stand but below that we all know what sort of random turnouts there are at the lane from away fans in the Championship etc.

It needs to be done but not much point til we are on the verge of the Premier League.

In the year 2525.......

Can't understand the complaints, I'm 6'2" and cope with the limited leg room (which is no worse than I got at Old Trafford for the semi v Newcastle) my 10 year old daughter simply stands on the seat when everybody stands up for a corner etc. The fact the facilities are shit probably helps save me grief and/ormoney as if there was a roof over the pie stand she'd be wanting a drink and chips at the silly prices charged.
