Yeah we have a load of PL money and parachute payments for another 3 season atleast we should be in a far better position financially
With respect, I think you’re underestimating just how much it costs to run a football club at this level. How many clubs in the Premier League are exclusively financed by a billionaire? Almost all of them. We’re not owned by someone that can bankroll £100m transfer sprees for the fuck of it. I think when Hecky was announced, the chairman said our operating costs to date were in the region of £400m. The club won’t generate anything like that level of income (especially when playing in empty stadiums during COVID). Parachute payments are to cover SOME of that debt to stop clubs going pop. It’s just the harsh reality of it.

Very true. But there are ways to go about it. Like keeping players under contract so as to maximise returns. The club went into hibernation for months when the owner decided to sell to a nonsense bidder, and it’s very likely that this has cost us now.

I don’t begrudge him for not chucking more money at it, because I’d like us to continue to exist. But I’d very much like him to sell to a serious individual.
Yeah I agree, the club definitely took their eye off the ball. TBH though I’m not sure he would have ever signed. And I would have thought our offer a year ago would have been significantly worse.

How far into the Palace game are we having chants of "Sack the board" and "Sell the club" then?

Huge mistake this. We knew the score last season that he wasn’t going to sign a new contract. We’d be far better off letting him see this one out and having a year of him in the PL, now he’s going even our slim hopes of staying up are now extinguished.

Good to know the owner isn’t interested in trying to keep us up. The signings we’ve made are all just stabs in the dark at players who have shown no signs so far of being close to premier league level, they are just cheap gambles.

I think your probably right hence my comment above modern football is essentially waiting for takeover or treading water im gonna try and enjoy this season treat each game as a cup game

Thank him for helping us win promotion and it has been a joy to watch him grow and flourish but now it's all about us and trying our best to survive this league, as for Illi as soon as it confirmed I really couldn't give a shit what he does with his career from then on. This club means more than any player past or present.

To be honest if you goes, I don't think he would have been good enough in the premiership, he's not been tested, he looked poor against Man city at Wembley, since a lot of teams keep the ball. Has for being the best player in the blades history, Tony Currie, Alan Woodward, and Gil Reece, where better players and scored goals. It's creative midfield player we require for the premiership, with a decent goalscorer with pace
Sounds like a post a Wednesday fan makes when they get turned down for a better club. Saying that, you are right, not the best in our history but certainly one of the best.

made even worse when the owner mortgages the club to pay for it. Shame for him that we don't make profits for him to pull out of the club, otherwise we could have called him Prince Glazer.

Aye it’s all speculation. But this time last year the player was still a promising talent lacking stamina and consistency.

It worries me that Osula and Jebbison could be headed the same way.

I have never known a club sap all of the joy out of promotion like United the powers that be really are one of the most clueless set of imbeciles going.

If he was going he should have gone months ago this is an utter embarrassment especially after the way Marseille have acted.

The Prince and the board are an absolute disgrace.

This is even worse than selling Beattie and Blackman.

The owner/board really are thick as f*ck they have just destroyed all hope the fans had for this season.

We won't even sign a replacement and anyone that comes in will be a complete waste of time.

As for Illiman he can go and rot on Marseilles bench now. 👍

Actually saw Stephen Bettis going into J.P Morgan this afternoon at Canary Wharf. Laughed to myself wondering if something was moving with the takeover.

Kinda wish I’d rugby tackled him now to stop him going in..
Why would he be going in there to speak with Marseille?

Just take each game as it comes this season and hope to get past Derby and pray for a takeover 🙏🫡
What kind of backwards attitude is this? We should be buzzing… like every other team that gets promoted. But no not us, let’s just hope we don't set a new record low! Absolute shambles!

It’s a real shame. And on the face of it, selling your best player for about half of what he’s actually worth on the eve of your first season back in the Premier League is crazy. But the reality is we were stuck because his contract was up at the end of this season. We can’t let this kind of thing happen to our other players as we currently seem intent on doing.
