Either Marseille stumps up what we want or Iliman has a season in the Prem with us. Simple. And that's our choice, not Marseille's or even Iliman's. I doubt very much he'd get mardy and down tools when he'd at least have one season to show what he can do in the best league in the world then sign a bumper contract with whoever he wants, be it Marseille, Barca or Man City

Noted. Now can you get back to just posting the most negative possible take on our situation and ignoring any possibly positive takes?
I know where I am with that, cos this is getting weird.

Edit:

Cheers, it’s appreciated!

Think you've misunderstood my take on this.

There's media at our end saying he's settled, he's staying.
There's media at theirs saying the opposite.

Calling people "fannies" for believing theirs over ours is juvenile and nonsensical.

I haven't declared any position on it, nor am I ignoring any possible positive outcomes.
I don't know what's happening, the same way you don't but I'm also not being insulting to anyone with a view either way ...

I still think he signs or leaves, I don’t see him running his contract down. For me the sticking point will be the release clause and the balance between wages now and signing on fee to his new club if we’re relegated. Lots of negotiating to come but as long as he doesn’t leave for free and as long as we get plenty of time to sign a replacement if he does leave this window, I’m cool with it 😎

Think weve pinpointed your problem.

I'm not sure you've pinpointed anything given I didn't offer any sort of opinion.

I just asked a question which you've conveniently avoided answering..

Why is the media saying "he's signing a new deal" any more reliable than the media saying "he wants to go to Marseille and has agreed personal terms." ?

And you think I didn’t pick the word exactly because it’s juvenile? Also can you really be that insulted by something so deliberately juvenile? I mean you obviously can, but that would just make you an even bigger fanny wouldn’t it?

The general behaviour on this thread is juvenile, reading into every little thing that could be negative is hardly a bastion of grown up, sensible and well considered discussion. Fanny felt like a pretty appropriate description.

I didnt say the media this end have said hes signing a new deal
I said they have stated there has been no contact

Guess its down to who you want to believe and you might not think you have offered an opinion but constantly offering up a doomsday scenario interpretation of events is exactly tgat but with out the responsibility of owning it

Why would I own an opinion I haven't given, Frank?
I don't have an opinion on it, to be honest.

I have thoughts on what is probably going off but that's just my interpretation of what the media has put out there.

There hasn't been anything "official" from either club. The closest you'd have to that is the Marseille president saying the "deal smells good" but I also take that with a pinch of salt given his motives.

Everything else has just been noise.

It's about time United employed our own unsavoury tactics.

Up the minimum price to £30m so they can disappear back under the rock that they came from 👍
It should be at least that anyway and another 10 for each year remaining.

You're being disingenuous now
You have pointed out throughout this thread reasons he would sign for forest
Reasons he would move to Olympic marseilles
Interpreted every twitter post to mean he is leaving

they are not facts but opinions

Have also pointed out reasons he might stay but you've selectively ignored that.

I've offered up theories for discussion.
Not an opinion.

I didn't see them I have to admit

Fair enough.
Elsewhere, I have mentioned that it would provide him with financial guarantees and securities, that he's seemingly settled in the area and he'd be the main man in a PL team which is a great way of marketing yourself to the biggest clubs in the world.

I went on to say, for balance, that the above doesn't negate all other considerations - for example, Forest tick a lot of the above boxes (and more in some ways).
Marseille can provide Champions League football, a return to his boyhood club etc.

Just because I point something out for discussion, it doesn't mean I'm expressing a particular view.
I can be contrary, but often it's intentional to further conversations.

I'm aware you don't always appreciate that style and that's fine.

Well to actually answer your question, on Marseilles side they're likely to leak anything they want to in order to unsettle the player and try and gain the upper hand in convincing him to leave.

It doesn't benefit our club in the slightest to leak positive information around the situation if it isn't true because we're left with egg on our face and look shambolic if nothing comes of it. It's more likely anyone involved with our club would keep shtum until a contract was officially signed, or they were at least 99.99% certain it was happening.

Marseilles side can say what they want, and if it happens they're quids in, if it doesn't they just say it fell apart at the eleventh hour, or he changed his mind for his family, or whatever other excuses.

All the more recent blurb on twitter stems from a single journalist who says the Ndiaye has been persuaded to change his mind. This same journalist apparently first reported Ndiaye had told them he wanted to stay with the blades and is regarded, by Marseilles at least, as being pretty reliable. This (and some insta post from his dad) is all they're getting excited about.

However the same journalist (who also seems to be Marseilles pet somewhat) also admits the negotiations between the clubs "won't be easy" and implies they've not even met yet. Well from Marseilles perspective, negotiations should be piss easy. An amount has supposedly been stated and all things considered, it's not really that high. If they're still making noises to journalists about "difficult negotiations", it suggests they won't (or can't) up their offer by much. That or none of this is serious and is merely posturing to appease fans or dissuade Illi from signing an extension so they pick him up on the cheap later on.

You'd hope all that adds to the hope that nothing has changed. Posturing and snide tactics.

It is about time some one pointed out to the frogs that he is OUR player and has a contract . Either pay what WE want or fuck off and leave him alone . They seem to think they are above the rules of tapping up contracted players . Pity they were not as persistant in the bloody trenchers.

Think we're all pretty passionate about Iliman. It's natural some will be pessimistic and some optimistic, on any given situation, but tension is understandably high regarding our best ever player

Let's all just agree we want to hammer Forest next season.

The 217,000 that lost their lives fighting at our sides might think what a fucking brainless thing to say, and even more unbelievable you got some likes from some more brainless arseholes.
