Average PL wage is about 60k per week isn’t it? That surely sets the floor if you’re wanting to keep him.

The median wage (i.e. so it is not distorted by anyone on the GDP of a small country a week) is probably a bit lower, but I believe you're right on the mean. You could try that, but I'd have no problems going up to 80-100k a week. It sounds a lot on paper but 4-5 million for a year of Iliman is not a gamble in my eyes

Not in next 48 hours Traore will be done next week just loads of extra stuff to do for his work permit with these new rules. Hopefully a breakthrough with the other 2 targets next week too which we are getting closer on 🤞🏼

One of them a French defender?

I think I must be the only fan who thinks this is the right thing to do.
1. To lose him for free would be stupid in the extreme.
2. He’s a OM fan so it doesn’t look like we’ll be able to talk him out of it.
3. We got promoted last time and finished 9th without him.
4. We can’t sign one player that will be as good as him but with the money we could sign a couple of players to go straight into the team that could make us stronger.
5. Replacements on 3/4 year contracts provide long term stability whatever division we’re in.
6. We had some average performances as a team last season and so did he.

Since the end of last season our fan base seem to have elevated him to be almost Diego Maradonna reincarnated.
Don’t get me wrong I love Illy and would like nothing more than for him to sign a new contract but when you realise that’s not happening then we have to be sensible and sell asap !

According to News now Sheffield United,Illy has agreed to a17 million move to Marseille.Maybe a rumour.

Might be clutching at straws but I’m not sure the club would post him returning to pre-season all smiles for the camera, several pictures and tag him in a clip of the first game if they thought his departure was imminent.

The market place pictures could have easily been faked. Nick someone else’s advert and stick Illimans mrs name and picture on it.
I had a sneaky look and couldn’t see any of them on there

I genuinely don't think we'll sell Berge or Ndiaye. We turned down offers last summer and in January on the basis that our best chance of getting promoted meant not selling them. Well if that's the case then the best chance we have of staying up is not selling them. We take the gamble and see what happens next summer. Every month that goes by now means their value is getting lower.
Tony, you been away, not seen you post in ages? Maybe just missed your posts.

Hi Stegosaurus here

The he should leave at end of the season. Keep us up. Rather than force us to rely on McBurnie and Brewster.

Greedy. Motivated by the dollar. If a different team offered a few extra shekels he'd turn his back on his "boyhood team" and join them instead
It’s up to us to accept the bid

Hi Stegosaurus here

Zero gratitude from NDiaye

Blades made him what he is and he turns coat when Marseille flash their knickers at him
Must admit I rattles my chains when a player we give a chance to jumps ship for the money like Che Adam’s did when we gave him a chance. Hate to see Ndiaye go that way for more than one reason like I’ve just mastered spelling his name.

Could be argued SUFC should have tied him down much sooner.

Biggest question I have. If the OM stuff is true, why is Illy taking a step away from what is overwhelmingly regarded as the best league in the world? I just don't see it. Moving to your hometown club, that isn't amongst the worlds elite clubs, in a romance move, is something you do on the downward side of your career, not when it's just getting started.

Maybe clutching at straws but I can't see a situation where Illy values his best years in Ligue 1 over the PL. He's shown his intentions are to play on the biggest stage, week in week out, not having bit parts in the annual 'have a go too' round of the Champions League.

Maybe he wants to live nearer home earning a packet with regular champions league and maybe a cup win or two at a biggish club.

South of France or South Yorkshire factor too!

Nope. Doesn't cut it. The PL is THE prize for players. It's consistently referred to as the dream. Those things you mention will still be there in 5 years time. Can the same be said for a ready made opportunity to play in THE competition?

If he wants to go then it’s better we get a fee for him we can use. No point having a player here who is going to be unhappy and not giving 100% we have been down that route with Lunny.
I raise you Jim Bone

Fair enough, thought about doing that myself but couldn’t be fucked.

Whatever happens happens… the fact he’s in training and involved with the clubs media still suggests it isn’t happening within the next few days to me. The fact we’re openly in contract negotiations with him also suggests nothing is set in stone.

All just stinks like OM playing games to unsettle him or his agent trying to to generate the largest cut for himself.
A quick zoom on the console table shows some sort of musical instrument with Senegalese decor. 🎻🇸🇳 🕵️‍♂️

Plenty of top players never step foot in England so that's not true whatsoever. He's been in the UK a while now. Maybe he just wants to go home?

Smells like OM and agent shit stirring to me. They know how dear he holds OM to his heart, and are brazenly trying to unsettle the lad.

Nothing is ever a gamble when it's not your money

It's Marseille. It's Champions League. It's his dream move. It's hardly a transfer to the Fiji Sunday Super League.

Believe or not, there are a handful of the world's best players in France (granted, they're all at PSG but still 🤣)
