McBurnie

I think he has proven he isn't useless this season. If he can carry on and perform like he did in his first season in the Premier League (joint 3rd MOTM votes on here) then we only need 1 or 2 strikers signed this summer. Definitely worth keeping.

Great summary.

That is till you get to the fans MOTM votes on ere 😂.

I know I haven't been as supportive as I can of McBurnie over the years mainly due to his off field antics however he is the Championships joint 12th goal scorer 1 behind 10th and 2 behind 8th which includes Ndiaye. He has had a decent season

Needs to be moved on if we want to progress as a club. Jury's been out for me over Jebbison but I saw glimpses yesterday that he could be the future. Pacey, strong and young enough to improve. Great strike from Mcburnie yesterday tbf but we need better than his agricultural style of huff and puff.

I'd love it if we could improve on all of our players but we won't. McBurnie is currently our 2nd best with the 1st possibly going. Certainly won't be here if we are relagated. If we had the money I would be on board with you. However I imagine we are going to be quite tight on money and best case similar to last time so we really could do with holding on to him.

I know most of the fans love him and sing fantasy songs about him scoring goals but has anything he has done this season convinced you he will do well in the Premier League.
If this is the best we can do we will be straight back down in record time.
I just want us to have a fighting chance next season and this isn’t it.

Every dog has its day...... And next season will be McWoof day

Glad he got his much needed goal.

You can't help but like the lad, fabulous attitude and appears to bring on the kids with bladeness - but he needs to regain the physical strength he had pre surgery and stop regularly dropping to the grass with his arms waving about.

You are probably right.
Worth every penny of the £20 million.
The fact that no other clubs are interested in him tells us something but what do I know.
Which clubs were interested in Basham, Norwood, Fleck, Egan and Baldock after we went up in 2019?

Thought the goal he scored yesterday was well taken, he has the potential to go on to a well established top 6 side.
This extended contract has almost guaranteed our survival.
Negativity breeds negativity, let's be positive about the upcoming season Dean. He's our striker he's our number 9.

Big part in us staying up that first season, prem money and a bit of extra parachute money due to this and a big part in us going up this year to more prem money and parachute payments. Even with those two seasons plagued with injuries and poor form (like the rest) he is turning out funnily enough good value.

Egan and Baldock had plenty of interest and still have at the minute.

🤯

He has value and should subsequently be signed up beyond 12 months or be free to go for nothing at the end of his contract

I'm aware they attracted interest after playing in the PL. Pretty much every player does. Wolves and Burnley looked at McBurnie.

But you're saying McBurnie hasn't done enough to deserve a chance to play in the PL for us.

Show me one article that says a club was looking at Egan or Baldock in the summer after we won promotion.

If this is the measure you're judging McBurnie on then let's see it.

You are right I’m wrong.
He will flourish in the Prem next season and we will sell him for a big profit.

See you here in 12 months and see how well it’s worked out.

its why Hecky is so good
McBurnie was being a full weight ass hole
Hes managed to give him some focus on making a really good living if he knuckled down and worked hard
And his work rate getting heads to balls up front and doubling up with his defensive roll has given us an asset

If you think we shouldn't be offering him a new contract, or at least activate the extra year, you're probably in for a shock with our transfer dealing this summer. (which one we do would depend on wages)

Strikers on the books if we don't offer extensions:

Brewster
Jebbo

He's 26. He cost well north of £10 million. He's scored 1 in 3 this season despite not playing that well a lot of the time. He needs to do better, but the injury has clearly had an impact on him and he hasn't been the same since.

Yes, he's from Leeds and dresses/acts like a tit, but from a footballing perspective in our financial state it's a no-brainer.

I'm a bit conflicted with McBurnie. I'm not a fan, but can't deny that a return of 12 goals in an injury hit season is reasonable. I don't think we have much of a choice in sticking with him though for next season and I just hope he can avoid further injury and achieve a level of consistency he's largely failed to show up til now.

Top 6 side.... explain why man.city arsenal man.u Newcastle spurs and Liverpool would consider signing him.

I think it's that price tag that makes people have a negative judgment against him. To me he has more than paid that back by helping to keep us up that first season and his contribution this. I've always thought he puts in the effort, even when playing crap, which is how most Blades get measured over the years and he is better than some of the cloggers we (rightly) consider legends. Had some important moments not only up front, but also in defense this season. Don't understand the negativity he gets and should be retained regardless of finances even if it is only a place ont bench.

When the alternative is let him go for free and replace him with a striker in the squad of similar ability you lose a 10 million chunk of your transfer budget after paying the signing fees and the parasitic agent fees it's an absolute no brainier. He was name checked by Guardiola just over a week ago as someone to be aware of which is a big compliment
