Yes I think if Howard returned to the club he would really fit in. The style, such as it was under Blackwell, was not conducive to his talents.

Brian's a top bloke. I had a really good chat with him after the PO final defeat (the 3rd one). It was very much a love hate relationship he had with Blackwell. He said he had to go in Blackie's office and ask him why he kept playing him as a second striker. Blackie said that's where he has always played and was the position he was signed for. Brian argued that this was bollocks and he has always played center mid.

The next day Blackie called him back with a pile of scout reports in front of him and said 'You're right, you're a central midfielder.'

Great new avatar .... what a day that was ! I'm not sure I'll ever experience a day as happy as that again football-wise. Deane and Agana are only equalled by Morris and Edwards in my lifetime watching the Blades and the performance at Filbert Street to seal promotion just typified the team in that era. Shame about what was happening at S6 eh! Happy days indeed !
