The 4-0 tonking was one of my worst away games, Roberts and Ellington ran us ragged

Watford have taken 11 from 18, we’ve taken 15 from 18, so technically, they’re further away! The picture is skewed because they’ve played a game more and it’s in our hands to get the gap back to what it was.Watford are now getting uncomfortably close. If this had been played before or at the same time as the rest of the weekend fixtures I think we win at a canter.
Pressure is now on a bit.

I was at that game, definitely sat down the side. Roberts and Ellington was as good a strike partnership as it gets at championship level and were the 2 top scorers in the league that year. I think they also had players like Bullard and Baines at the time. We had Paul Thirlwell in midfield and Ashley Ward up frontI was at that game in 2004. Remember we had the stand along the side, back then. It didn’t matter anyway as the day was dreadful. Think we lost 4-0?
You’re right! I had to look this up to remember. See the teams below.I was at that game, definitely sat down the side. I can’t imagine Wright playing as any kind of centre back. You’re right! I had to look this up to remember. See the teams below.

A very odd line up from us, with both Harley and Wright playing. Guessing we were playing a 5-3-2 this game? With either Harley or Wright at LCB?
I have a vague memory of him playing cb in the cup at home to Villa that same season?I can’t imagine Wright playing as any kind of centre back.
Was that the time Alan Wright (all 5ft 4 if him) played centre half? You’re right! I had to look this up to remember. See the teams below.

Not that night I didn’t!I used to fear going to Wigan when they had them two black lads upfront always used score against us.
Play to our strengths and we should win, just turn up and go thru the motions and Wigan will have a chance.
Can’t remember that, or even if I went. He really wasn’t very tall.I have a vague memory of him playing cb in the cup at home to Villa that same season?

He was long gone by then, wasn't he?Wright did play centre half on a couple of occasions. I remember Warnock saying it was his best position and if he had been taller he'd have been world class.
He wasn't world class for us at centre half unfortunately. Pretty sure he played centre half away at Arsenal in our Warnock Prem season
He was long gone by then, wasn't he?
As an aside, I think the 2004-05 season was the one when we had a disproportionate amount of bald players. Wright, Cullip, Parkinson, Shaw to name a few (might have also been the season Jags shaved his hair off?).
Wow! In my head he’d left the year before. I was at that game too. Shows how much attention I was paying. No, he was randomly selected for the match despite not being part of any match day squads before
The teams for that day are at the bottom here
“I remember when we panned Nigel Adkins’ Sheffield Utd at the Lane in February 2016, a manager appointed by Mal Brannigan coincidentally. I remember being shocked at just how shit they were and they ended up finishing mid-table that season and Adkins sacked. Chris Wilder took over that summer.
What he did to get that shower to the Premier League within the next three seasons (and have them mid-table before the pandemic hit) is probably one of the best jobs I’ve seen from a manager.”
I think some of our fans often forget this.
