Time's up Billy

Thought he played shite today, sorry. Yep he scored the goal, one on one with time to spare, and well taken. Aside from that he did nothing.
So Aside from scoring the only goal that won us a tight game to give us 3 vital points in our promotion race he did nothing? I hope he has many more sub par shite performances like that to come.

A good few years ago, some Blades fans would regularly moan about Keith Edwards doing nowt for 89 minutes, just before he would often pop up with a late winner for United.

Genuine goalscorers are like rocking horse shit. So when you have one in your team you should cherish it. Legends like King Keith and King Billy don't come along often.

Check Michael Owens career...wank for 89 minutes. Scores winner!

That's what a striker is suppose to do 🤷‍♂️ Score goals 🥴

Aside from scoring the only goal, or even looking for the next. Yeah, shite xxx

Oops, I forget that King Billy is free from criticism. I did say aside from the goal but I guess that’s irrelevant.

You all have such faith in our team that had he not scored we’d have finished 0-0, as no one else can score right?

He's not free from criticism at all. But a "Yep he
got the goal, one on one with time to spare, well taken. Aside from that he did nothing" is not constructive criticism whatsoever. And out of all our strikers, you'd be daft to not trust him the most in a one on one situation, because he has littlerly scored the most one on ones out of every striker we have.

It's just being negative as hell, putting our best goalscorer down this past 30 years, after the first ever Winter break where he's won us 3 points. Potentially 3 points which could be the difference to get us promoted.

Really do not get "fans" like you. Players like Sharp are in the team to score goals exactly like that. He's not played a lot this season due to not having a full pre season, injuries plus Ndiaye's and Mcburnie's form. Which is exactly the way it should be, he's 36.

Moan moan moan.

Don't think he played that well either tbh, besides the well taken goal.

I do wonder if he'll ever recover his form from the start of last season again. For obvious reasons, I always back him and hope I'm right again!

Erm yeah, he is pretty fucking free from slagging off when there's nobody else doing the business actually.

Would you like further explanations as to how football works or should I stick around a bit longer 'til the penny drops?

My favourite crowd observation ever
“Edwards you idle bastard, all tha ever does is score”

Constructive criticism would imply there’s something to build upon, in this game (which I was referring to) he did nothing ASIDE from the goal.

I’ve not criticised / reviewed his contribution for every single game he’s played for us in that review, but because my opinion is not a happy clapper Billy can do no wrong review, I’m a negative moan moan moan fan.

The reality is with some fans Billy can do no wrong, yet if you took his performance and put it on someone else, a Brewster or Berge or Khadra say, you would be ripping them to pieces.

Billy plays poorly = It’s fine
Someone else plays poorly = They’re shit / worst signing ever / get rid etc

Considering the statements of the crowd around me when Billy got outpaced or lost the ball or didn’t pass implies that I’m not alone in my review (to reiterate - in yesterday’s game for context).

he could have made that goal look better tbh, a boring dink over the keeper with ample time to spare.

Billy is still a useful member of the squad as his goal showed.
Yes he's not the player he was! Injuries recently have been a problem for him and getting full fitness back will see him kick onAt his age injuries do impact him more.
Still will get us vital goals as yesterday showed! Great finish to a great bit of football from Illiman ,great technic from him with the finish to match.
Looking at the table it looked easy ! It wasn't and Udders won't go down without a fight and showed plenty of that in the 2nd half.

Oft heard on the kop in the 80s.

"Keith Edwards** is shit, he does nowt...

....but score goals"

** or replace with Mr W Sharp.

Good finish .But 1st goal since March
his experience will aid him in goal scoring but his age. is getting the upper hand. Might score a few more this season but the end is nigh as the bloke with the signs used to say

Scored the goal that made the difference and still has a part to play but if we're relying on Sharp we'd not go up. Simple as. He's no longer got the legs to do all the other bit of the game we need. And doesn't have the attributes (pace or height) to provide an outball when we're struggling. Still has a role to play but likely to be limited.

He made the difference yesterday, by scoring the winning (and only) goal. At his age, we shouldn't be relying on him, but with our crazy injury crisis, we are.

Watch his movement off the ball. It’s very good.

Watch the way he starts our press. It’s not this that typically leads to a turnover but it starts the chain of events that leads to it. Without the first press it doesn’t happen. Our pressing at the top of the pitch 1st half was textbook yesterday.

Watch the way he gets the ball to stick and then bring others into play in an attacking phase. Even when this is up in the air when he has almost no chance of winning the aerial dual, watch how he makes the CBS life difficult to control the direction of his header, which then often leads to our lads picking up the bits higher up the pitch.

Watch the way he works the channels.

Watch his delivery (crossing) which is usually to a high standard.

And finally. Watch the highlights reel of a career that demonstrates an honest hardworking player that is, without a shadow, a master of his craft.

Billy Sharp Scores Goals. Period.

UTB

Great finish, looked a mile offside! But still. Unreal assist from Ndiaye though, not many players could create that goal

Close, but probably onside. Linesman well placed. Quite funny when the Huddersfield lad took out his own teammate. Caught him so bad the referee had to signal advantage play.

Which current United player would you most prefer with a one on one with the goal keeper I am going with yesterdays goal scorer

Billy will always score goals its what he does, he wont start that many games now as we have other players who are ahead of him but to write him off would be a huge mistake. My only slight criticism of him this season is i dont think he has taken the new referee directive into consideration. Hes always got free kicks by getting infront of a defender waiting for contact and going down this year that does not equate to a free kick so all it does is lose possesion, once he realises this normal service will resume.
We need to appreciate him whilst hes still here and scoring as the next striker of his ilk will be about 30 years away
